¹And it came to pass when Jesus had finished these words, he departed from Galilee, and came into the borders of Judaea beyond the Jordan;

¹Lorsque Jésus eut achevé ces discours, il quitta la Galilée, et alla dans le territoire de la Judée, au delà du Jourdain.

¹ויהי ככלות ישוע לדבר את הדברים האלה ויסע מן הגליל ויבא אל גבול יהודה בעבר הירדן׃

²and great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.

²Une grande foule le suivit, et là il guérit les malades.

²וילכו אחריו המון עם רב וירפאם שם׃

³And there came unto him Pharisees, trying him, and saying, Is it lawful [for a man] to put away his wife for every cause?

³Les pharisiens l'abordèrent, et dirent, pour l'éprouver: Est-il permis à un homme de répudier sa femme pour un motif quelconque?

³ויגשו אליו הפרושים לנסותו לאמר היוכל איש לשלח את אשתו על כל דבר׃

⁴And he answered and said, Have ye not read, that he who made [them] from the beginning made them male and female,

⁴Il répondit: N'avez-vous pas lu que le créateur, au commencement, fit l'homme et la femme

⁴ויען ויאמר אליהם הלא קראתם כי עשה בראשית זכר ונקבה עשה אתם׃

⁵and said, For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh?

⁵et qu'il dit: C'est pourquoi l'homme quittera son père et sa mère, et s'attachera à sa femme, et les deux deviendront une seule chair?

⁵ואמר על כן יעזב איש את אביו ואת אמו ודבק באשתו והיו שניהם לבשר אחד׃

⁶So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

⁶Ainsi ils ne sont plus deux, mais ils sont une seule chair. Que l'homme donc ne sépare pas ce que Dieu a joint.

⁶אם כן אינם עוד שנים כי אם בשר אחד לכן את אשר חבר האלהים אל יפרידנו האדם׃

⁷They say unto him, Why then did Moses command to give a bill of divorcement, and to put [her] away?

⁷Pourquoi donc, lui dirent-ils, Moïse a-t-il prescrit de donner à la femme une lettre de divorce et de la répudier?

⁷ויאמרו אליו ולמה זה צוה משה לתת לה ספר כריתת ולשלחה׃

⁸He saith unto them, Moses for your hardness of heart suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it hath not been so.

⁸Il leur répondit: C'est à cause de la dureté de votre coeur que Moïse vous a permis de répudier vos femmes; au commencement, il n'en était pas ainsi.

⁸ויאמר אליהם בעבור קשי לבבכם הניח לכם משה לשלח את נשיכם אך מראש לא היתה ככה׃

⁹And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and he that marrieth her when she is put away committeth adultery.

⁹Mais je vous dis que celui qui répudie sa femme, sauf pour infidélité, et qui en épouse une autre, commet un adultère.

⁹ואני אמר לכם המשלח את אשתו בלתי על דבר זנות ולקח לו אחרת נאף הוא והלקח את הגרושה נאף הוא׃

¹⁰The disciples say unto him, If the case of the man is so with his wife, it is not expedient to marry.

¹⁰Ses disciples lui dirent: Si telle est la condition de l'homme à l'égard de la femme, il n'est pas avantageux de se marier.

¹⁰ויאמרו אליו התלמידים אם ככה הוא ענין איש ואשתו לא טוב לקחת אשה׃

¹¹But he said unto them, Not all men can receive this saying, but they to whom it is given.

¹¹Il leur répondit: Tous ne comprennent pas cette parole, mais seulement ceux à qui cela est donné.

¹¹ויאמר אליהם לא יוכל כל אדם קבל את הדבר הזה כי אם אלה אשר נתן להם להבין׃

¹²For there are eunuchs, that were so born from their mother's womb: and there are eunuchs, that were made eunuchs by men: and there are eunuchs, that made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

¹²Car il y a des eunuques qui le sont dès le ventre de leur mère; il y en a qui le sont devenus par les hommes; et il y en a qui se sont rendus tels eux-mêmes, à cause du royaume des cieux. Que celui qui peut comprendre comprenne.

¹²יש סריסים אשר נולדו כן מבטן אמם ויש סריסים המסרסים על ידי אדם ויש סריסים אשר סרסו את עצמם למען מלכות השמים מי שיוכל לקבל יקבל׃

¹³Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should lay his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.

¹³Alors on lui amena des petits enfants, afin qu'il leur imposât les mains et priât pour eux. Mais les disciples les repoussèrent.

¹³אז יביאו אליו ילדים למען ישים עליהם את ידיו ויתפלל עליהם ויגערו בם התלמידים׃

¹⁴But Jesus said, Suffer the little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for to such belongeth the kingdom of heaven.

¹⁴Et Jésus dit: Laissez les petits enfants, et ne les empêchez pas de venir à moi; car le royaume des cieux est pour ceux qui leur ressemblent.

¹⁴והוא ישוע אמר הניחו לילדים ואל תמנעום מבוא אלי כי לאלה מלכות השמים׃

¹⁵And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.

¹⁵Il leur imposa les mains, et il partit de là.

¹⁵וישם את ידיו עליהם ויעבר משם׃

¹⁶And behold, one came to him and said, Teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

¹⁶Et voici, un homme s'approcha, et dit à Jésus: Maître, que dois-je faire de bon pour avoir la vie éternelle?

¹⁶והנה איש נגש אליו ויאמר רבי הטוב אי זה הטוב אשר אעשנו לקנות חיי עולמים׃

¹⁷And he said unto him, Why askest thou me concerning that which is good? One there is who is good: but if thou wouldest enter into life, keep the commandments.

¹⁷Il lui répondit: Pourquoi m'interroges-tu sur ce qui est bon? Un seul est le bon. Si tu veux entrer dans la vie, observe les commandements.

¹⁷ויאמר אליו מה תקראני טוב אין טוב כי אם אחד האלהים ואם חפצך לבוא אל החיים שמר את המצות׃

¹⁸He saith unto him, Which? And Jesus said, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

¹⁸Lesquels? lui dit-il. Et Jésus répondit: Tu ne tueras point; tu ne commettras point d'adultère; tu ne déroberas point; tu ne diras point de faux témoignage;

¹⁸ויאמר אליו מה הנה ויאמר ישוע אלה הן לא תרצח לא תנאף לא תגנב לא תענה עד שקר׃

¹⁹Honor thy father and mother; and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

¹⁹honore ton père et ta mère; et: tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi-même.

¹⁹כבד את אביך ואת אמך ואהבת לרעך כמוך׃

²⁰The young man saith unto him, All these things have I observed: what lack I yet?

²⁰Le jeune homme lui dit: J'ai observé toutes ces choses; que me manque-t-il encore?

²⁰ויאמר אליו הבחור את כל אלה שמרתי מנעורי ומה חסרתי עוד׃

²¹Jesus said unto him, If thou wouldest be perfect, go, sell that which thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

²¹Jésus lui dit: Si tu veux être parfait, va, vends ce que tu possèdes, donne-le aux pauvres, et tu auras un trésor dans le ciel. Puis viens, et suis-moi.

²¹ויאמר ישוע אליו אם חפצך להיות שלם לך מכר את רכשך ותן לעניים והיה לך אוצר בשמים ושוב הלם ולך אחרי׃

²²But when the young man heard the saying, he went away sorrowful; for he was one that had great possessions.

²²Après avoir entendu ces paroles, le jeune homme s'en alla tout triste; car il avait de grands biens.

²²ויהי כשמע הבחור את הדבר הזה וילך משם נעצב כי היו לו נכסים רבים׃

²³And Jesus said unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, It is hard for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven.

²³Jésus dit à ses disciples: Je vous le dis en vérité, un riche entrera difficilement dans le royaume des cieux.

²³ויאמר ישוע אל תלמידיו אמן אמר אני לכם קשה לעשיר לבוא אל מלכות השמים׃

²⁴And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

²⁴Je vous le dis encore, il est plus facile à un chameau de passer par le trou d'une aiguille qu'à un riche d'entrer dans le royaume de Dieu.

²⁴ועוד אני אמר לכם כי נקל לגמל לעבר דרך נקב המחט מבא עשיר אל מלכות האלהים׃

²⁵And when the disciples heard it, they were astonished exceedingly, saying, Who then can be saved?

²⁵Les disciples, ayant entendu cela, furent très étonnés, et dirent: Qui peut donc être sauvé?

²⁵והתלמידים כשמעם זאת השתוממו מאד ויאמרו מי אפוא יוכל להושע׃

²⁶And Jesus looking upon [them] said to them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

²⁶Jésus les regarda, et leur dit: Aux hommes cela est impossible, mais à Dieu tout est possible.

²⁶ויבט בן ישוע ויאמר להם מבני אדם יפלא הדבר אבל מהאלהים לא יפלא כל דבר׃

²⁷Then answered Peter and said unto him, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee; what then shall we have?

²⁷Pierre, prenant alors la parole, lui dit: Voici, nous avons tout quitté, et nous t'avons suivi; qu'en sera-t-il pour nous?

²⁷ויען פטרוס ויאמר אליו הן אנחנו עזבנו את הכל ונלך אחריך מה יהיה לנו׃

²⁸And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, that ye who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit on the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

²⁸Jésus leur répondit: Je vous le dis en vérité, quand le Fils de l'homme, au renouvellement de toutes choses, sera assis sur le trône de sa gloire, vous qui m'avez suivi, vous serez de même assis sur douze trônes, et vous jugerez les douze tribus d'Israël.

²⁸ויאמר ישוע אליהם אמן אמר אני לכם אתם ההלכים אחרי בהתחדש הבריאה כאשר ישב בן האדם על כסא כבודו תשבו גם אתם על שנים עשר כסאות לשפט את שנים עשר שבטי ישראל׃

²⁹And every one that hath left houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit eternal life.

²⁹Et quiconque aura quitté, à cause de mon nom, ses frères, ou ses soeurs, ou son père, ou sa mère, ou sa femme, ou ses enfants, ou ses terres, ou ses maisons, recevra le centuple, et héritera la vie éternelle.

²⁹וכל איש אשר עזב את בתיו ואת אחיו ואת אחיותיו ואת אביו ואת אמו ואת אשתו ואת בניו ואת שדותיו למען שמי הוא יקח מאה שערים וחיי עולמים יירש׃

³⁰But many shall be last [that are] first; and first [that are] last.

³⁰Plusieurs des premiers seront les derniers, et plusieurs des derniers seront les premiers.

³⁰ואולם רבים מן הראשונים אשר יהיו אחרונים ומן האחרונים יהיו ראשונים׃
