¹For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that was a householder, who went out early in the morning to hire laborers into his vineyard.

¹Car le royaume des cieux est semblable à un maître de maison qui sortit dès le matin, afin de louer des ouvriers pour sa vigne.

¹כי דומה מלכות השמים לאדם בעל בית אשר השכים לצאת בבקר לשכר פעלים לכרמו׃

²And when he had agreed with the laborers for a shilling a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

²Il convint avec eux d'un denier par jour, et il les envoya à sa vigne.

²והתנה עם הפעלים שכר דינר ליום וישלחם אל כרמו׃

³And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing in the marketplace idle;

³Il sortit vers la troisième heure, et il en vit d'autres qui étaient sur la place sans rien faire.

³ויצא בשעה השלישית וירא אחרים עמדים בטלים בשוק׃

⁴and to them he said, Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.

⁴Il leur dit: Allez aussi à ma vigne, et je vous donnerai ce qui sera raisonnable. Et ils y allèrent.

⁴ויאמר להם לכו גם אתם אל כרמי וכישר אתן לכם וילכו׃

⁵Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did likewise.

⁵Il sortit de nouveau vers la sixième heure et vers la neuvième, et il fit de même.

⁵ויצא גם בשעה הששית גם בתשיעית ויעש כדבר הזה׃

⁶And about the eleventh [hour] he went out, and found others standing; and he saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?

⁶Etant sorti vers la onzième heure, il en trouva d'autres qui étaient sur la place, et il leur dit: Pourquoi vous tenez-vous ici toute la journée sans rien faire?

⁶ויצא בשעת עשתי עשרה וימצא אחרים עמדים ויאמר אליהם למה אתם עמדים פה בטלים כל היום׃

⁷They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard.

⁷Ils lui répondirent: C'est que personne ne nous a loués. Allez aussi à ma vigne, leur dit-il.

⁷ויאמרו לו כי לא שכר אותנו איש ויאמר אליהם לכו גם אתם אל הכרם וכישר יתן לכם׃

⁸And when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the laborers, and pay them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.

⁸Quand le soir fut venu, le maître de la vigne dit à son intendant: Appelle les ouvriers, et paie-leur le salaire, en allant des derniers aux premiers.

⁸ויהי בערב ויאמר בעל הכרם אל פקידו קרא את הפעלים ושלם להם את שכרם החל באחרונים וכלה בראשונים׃

⁹And when they came that [were hired] about the eleventh hour, they received every man a shilling.

⁹Ceux de la onzième heure vinrent, et reçurent chacun un denier.

⁹ויבאו הנשכרים בשעת אחת עשרה ויקחו איש איש דינר אחד׃

¹⁰And when the first came, they supposed that they would receive more; and they likewise received every man a shilling.

¹⁰Les premiers vinrent ensuite, croyant recevoir davantage; mais ils reçurent aussi chacun un denier.

¹⁰ובבא הראשונים דמו בנפשם כי יקחו יותר ויקחו גם הם איש איש דינר אחד׃

¹¹And when they received it, they murmured against the householder,

¹¹En le recevant, ils murmurèrent contre le maître de la maison,

¹¹ויהי בקחתם וילונו על בעל הבית לאמר׃

¹²saying, These last have spent [but] one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat.

¹²et dirent: Ces derniers n'ont travaillé qu'une heure, et tu les traites à l'égal de nous, qui avons supporté la fatigue du jour et la chaleur.

¹²אלה האחרונים לא עשו כי אם שעה אחת ואתה השויתם אלינו אשר סבלנו את כבד היום ואת חמו׃

¹³But he answered and said to one of them, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a shilling?

¹³Il répondit à l'un d'eux: Mon ami, je ne te fais pas tort; n'es-tu pas convenu avec moi d'un denier?

¹³ויען ויאמר אל אחד מהם רעי לא עשקתיך הלא שכר דינר התנית עמי׃

¹⁴Take up that which is thine, and go thy way; it is my will to give unto this last, even as unto thee.

¹⁴Prends ce qui te revient, et va-t'en. Je veux donner à ce dernier autant qu'à toi.

¹⁴קח את שלך ולך ואני רצוני לתת גם לזה האחרון כמו לך׃

¹⁵Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? or is thine eye evil, because I am good?

¹⁵Ne m'est-il pas permis de faire de mon bien ce que je veux? Ou vois-tu de mauvais oeil que je sois bon? -

¹⁵הלא אוכל לעשות בשלי כרצוני האם תרע עינך על אשר טוב אנכי׃

¹⁶So the last shall be first, and the first last.

¹⁶Ainsi les derniers seront les premiers, et les premiers seront les derniers.

¹⁶ככה יהיו האחרונים ראשונים והראשונים יהיו אחרונים כי רבים הם הקרואים ומעטים הנבחרים׃

¹⁷And as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples apart, and on the way he said unto them,

¹⁷Pendant que Jésus montait à Jérusalem, il prit à part les douze disciples, et il leur dit en chemin:

¹⁷ויהי כעלות ישוע ירושלים ויקח אליו את שנים העשר לבדם ויאמר להם בדרך׃

¹⁸Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests and scribes; and they shall condemn him to death,

¹⁸Voici, nous montons à Jérusalem, et le Fils de l'homme sera livré aux principaux sacrificateurs et aux scribes. Ils le condamneront à mort,

¹⁸הננו עלים ירושלימה ובן האדם ימסר לראשי הכהנים ולסופרים והרשיעהו למות׃

¹⁹and shall deliver him unto the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify: and the third day he shall be raised up.

¹⁹et ils le livreront aux païens, pour qu'ils se moquent de lui, le battent de verges, et le crucifient; et le troisième jour il ressuscitera.

¹⁹ומסרו אותו לגוים להתל בו ולהכות אותו בשוטים ולצלב אותו וביום השלישי קום יקום׃

²⁰Then came to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee with her sons, worshipping [him], and asking a certain thing of him.

²⁰Alors la mère des fils de Zébédée s'approcha de Jésus avec ses fils, et se prosterna, pour lui faire une demande.

²⁰אז נגשה אליו אם בני זבדי עם בניה ותשתחו לו לבקש ממנו דבר׃

²¹And he said unto her, What wouldest thou? She saith unto him, Command that these my two sons may sit, one on thy right hand, and one on thy left hand, in thy kingdom.

²¹Il lui dit: Que veux-tu? Ordonne, lui dit-elle, que mes deux fils, que voici, soient assis, dans ton royaume, l'un à ta droite et l'autre à ta gauche.

²¹ויאמר אליה מה בקשתך ותאמר אליו אמר נא כי ישבו שני בני אלה אחד לימינך ואחד לשמאלך במלכותך׃

²²But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink the cup that I am about to drink? They say unto him, We are able.

²²Jésus répondit: Vous ne savez ce que vous demandez. Pouvez-vous boire la coupe que je dois boire? Nous le pouvons, dirent-ils.

²²ויען ישוע ויאמר לא ידעתם את אשר שאלתם היכל תוכלו שתות את הכוס אשר אני עתיד לשתותו והטבל בטבילה אשר אני נבטל בה ויאמרו אליו נוכל׃

²³He saith unto them, My cup indeed ye shall drink: but to sit on my right hand, and on [my] left hand, is not mine to give; but [it is for them] for whom it hath been prepared of my Father.

²³Et il leur répondit: Il est vrai que vous boirez ma coupe; mais pour ce qui est d'être assis à ma droite et à ma gauche, cela ne dépend pas de moi, et ne sera donné qu'à ceux à qui mon Père l'a réservé.

²³ויאמר אליהם הן את כוסי תשתו ובטבילה אשר אני נטבל בה תטבלו אך שבת לימימי ולשמאלי אין בידי לתתה בלתי לאשר הוכן להם מאת אבי׃

²⁴And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation concerning the two brethren.

²⁴Les dix, ayant entendu cela, furent indignés contre les deux frères.

²⁴ויהי כאשר שמעו זאת העשרה ויכעסו אל שני האחים׃

²⁵But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.

²⁵Jésus les appela, et dit: Vous savez que les chefs des nations les tyrannisent, et que les grands les asservissent.

²⁵וישוע קרא להם ויאמר אתם ידעתם כי שרי הגוים רדים בהם והגדולים שלטים עליהם׃

²⁶Not so shall it be among you: but whosoever would become great among you shall be your minister;

²⁶Il n'en sera pas de même au milieu de vous. Mais quiconque veut être grand parmi vous, qu'il soit votre serviteur;

²⁶ואתם אל יהי כן ביניכם כי אם החפז להיות גדול בכם יהי לכם למשרת׃

²⁷and whosoever would be first among you shall be your servant:

²⁷et quiconque veut être le premier parmi vous, qu'il soit votre esclave.

²⁷והחפץ להיות בכם לראש יהי לכם עבד׃

²⁸even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

²⁸C'est ainsi que le Fils de l'homme est venu, non pour être servi, mais pour servir et donner sa vie comme la rançon de plusieurs.

²⁸כאשר בן האדם לא בא למען ישרתוהו כי אם לשרת ולתת את נפשו כפר תחת רבים׃

²⁹And as they went out from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.

²⁹Lorsqu'ils sortirent de Jéricho, une grande foule suivit Jésus.

²⁹ויהי כצאתם מיריחו וילך אחריו המון עם רב׃

³⁰And behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, Lord, have mercy on us, thou son of David.

³⁰Et voici, deux aveugles, assis au bord du chemin, entendirent que Jésus passait, et crièrent: Aie pitié de nous, Seigneur, Fils de David!

³⁰והנה שני עורים ישבים על יד הדרך וישמעו כי ישוע עבר ויצעקו לאמר חננו נא אדנינו בן דוד׃

³¹And the multitude rebuked them, that they should hold their peace: but they cried out the more, saying, Lord, have mercy on us, thou son of David.

³¹La foule les reprenait, pour les faire taire; mais ils crièrent plus fort: Aie pitié de nous, Seigneur, Fils de David!

³¹ויגער בם העם להשתיקם והם הרבו לצעק ויאמרו אדנינו חננו נא בן דוד׃

³²And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I should do unto you?

³²Jésus s'arrêta, les appela, et dit: Que voulez-vous que je vous fasse?

³²ויעמד ישוע ויקרא להם ויאמר מה תחפצו ואעשה לכם׃

³³They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.

³³Ils lui dirent: Seigneur, que nos yeux s'ouvrent.

³³ויאמרו אליו אדנינו עשה שתפקחנה עינינו׃

³⁴And Jesus, being moved with compassion, touched their eyes; and straightway they received their sight, and followed him.

³⁴Emu de compassion, Jésus toucha leurs yeux; et aussitôt ils recouvrèrent la vue, et le suivirent.

³⁴ורחמי ישוע נכמרו ויגע בעיניהם ופתאם החלו עיניהם לראות וילכו אחריו׃
