¹And when he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.

¹Lorsque Jésus fut descendu de la montagne, une grande foule le suivit.

¹וירד מן ההר וילך אחריו המון עם רב׃

²And behold, there came to him a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

²Et voici, un lépreux s'étant approché se prosterna devant lui, et dit: Seigneur, si tu le veux, tu peux me rendre pur.

²והנה איש מצרע בא וישתחו לו ויאמר אדני אם תרצה תוכל לטהרני׃

³And he stretched forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou made clean. And straightway his leprosy was cleansed.

³Jésus étendit la main, le toucha, et dit: Je le veux, sois pur. Aussitôt il fut purifié de sa lèpre.

³וישלח ישוע את ידו ויגע בו ויאמר חפץ אנכי טהר ומיד נרפאה צרעתו׃

⁴And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go, show thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

⁴Puis Jésus lui dit: Garde-toi d'en parler à personne; mais va te montrer au sacrificateur, et présente l'offrande que Moïse a prescrite, afin que cela leur serve de témoignage.

⁴ויאמר אליו ישוע ראה פן תספר לאיש כי אם לך לך והראה אל הכהן והקרב את הקרבן אשר צוה משה לעדות להם׃

⁵And when he was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,

⁵Comme Jésus entrait dans Capernaüm, un centenier l'aborda, le priant

⁵ויהי כבאו אל כפר נחום ויגש אליו שר מאה אחד ויתחנן לו לאמר׃

⁶and saying, Lord, my servant lieth in the house sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.

⁶et disant: Seigneur, mon serviteur est couché à la maison, atteint de paralysie et souffrant beaucoup.

⁶אדני הנה נערי נפל למשכב בביתי והוא נכה אברים ומענה עד מאד׃

⁷And he saith unto him, I will come and heal him.

⁷Jésus lui dit: J'irai, et je le guérirai.

⁷ויאמר ישוע אליו אבא וארפאהו׃

⁸And the centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof; but only say the word, and my servant shall be healed.

⁸Le centenier répondit: Seigneur, je ne suis pas digne que tu entres sous mon toit; mais dis seulement un mot, et mon serviteur sera guéri.

⁸ויען שר המאה ויאמר אדני נקלתי מבאך בצל קורתי אך דבר נא רק דבר ונרפא נערי׃

⁹For I also am a man under authority, having under myself soldiers: and I say to this one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

⁹Car, moi qui suis soumis à des supérieurs, j'ai des soldats sous mes ordres; et je dis à l'un: Va! et il va; à l'autre: Viens! et il vient; et à mon serviteur: Fais cela! et il le fait.

⁹כי אנכי איש נתון תחת השלטון וגם יש תחת ידי אנשי צבא ואמרתי לזה לך והלך ולזה בוא ובא ולעבדי עשה זאת ועשה׃

¹⁰And when Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

¹⁰Après l'avoir entendu, Jésus fut dans l'étonnement, et il dit à ceux qui le suivaient: Je vous le dis en vérité, même en Israël je n'ai pas trouvé une aussi grande foi.

¹⁰וישמע ישוע ויתמה ויאמר אל ההלכים אחריו אמן אמר אני לכם גם בישראל לא מצאתי אמונה גדולה כזאת׃

¹¹And I say unto you, that many shall come from the east and the west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven:

¹¹Or, je vous déclare que plusieurs viendront de l'orient et de l'occident, et seront à table avec Abraham, Isaac et Jacob, dans le royaume des cieux.

¹¹ואני אמר לכם רבים יבאו ממזרח וממערב ויסבו עם אברהם ויצחק ויעקב במלכות השמים׃

¹²but the sons of the kingdom shall be cast forth into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.

¹²Mais les fils du royaume seront jetés dans les ténèbres du dehors, où il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents.

¹²אבל בני המלכות המה יגרשו אל החשך החיצון שם תהיה היללה וחרוק השנים׃

¹³And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; as thou hast believed, [so] be it done unto thee. And the servant was healed in that hour.

¹³Puis Jésus dit au centenier: Va, qu'il te soit fait selon ta foi. Et à l'heure même le serviteur fut guéri.

¹³ויאמר ישוע אל שר המאה לך וכאמונתך כן יהיה לך וירפא נערו בשעה ההיא׃

¹⁴And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother lying sick of a fever.

¹⁴Jésus se rendit ensuite à la maison de Pierre, dont il vit la belle-mère couchée et ayant la fièvre.

¹⁴ויבא ישוע ביתה פטרוס וירא את חמותו נפלת למשכב כי אחזתה הקדחת׃

¹⁵And he touched her hand, and the fever left her; and she arose, and ministered unto him.

¹⁵Il toucha sa main, et la fièvre la quitta; puis elle se leva, et le servit.

¹⁵ויגע בידה ותרף ממנה הקדחת ותקם ותשרתם׃

¹⁶And when even was come, they brought unto him many possessed with demons: and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all that were sick:

¹⁶Le soir, on amena auprès de Jésus plusieurs démoniaques. Il chassa les esprits par sa parole, et il guérit tous les malades,

¹⁶ויהי לעת ערב ויביאו אליו רבים אחוזי שדים ויגרש את הרוחות בדבר וירפא את כל החולים׃

¹⁷that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying: Himself took our infirmities, and bare our diseases.

¹⁷afin que s'accomplît ce qui avait été annoncé par Esaïe, le prophète: Il a pris nos infirmités, et il s'est chargé de nos maladies.

¹⁷למלאת את אשר דבר ישעיהו הנביא לאמר חלינו הוא נשא ומכאבינו סבלם׃

¹⁸Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandments to depart unto the other side.

¹⁸Jésus, voyant une grande foule autour de lui, donna l'ordre de passer à l'autre bord.

¹⁸ויהי כראות ישוע המון עם רב סביבתיו ויצו לעבר משם אל עבר הים׃

¹⁹And there came a scribe, and said unto him, Teacher, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

¹⁹Un scribe s'approcha, et lui dit: Maître, je te suivrai partout où tu iras.

¹⁹ויגש אליו אחד הסופרים ויאמר אליו רבי אלכה אחריך אל כל אשר תלך׃

²⁰And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the heaven [have] nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

²⁰Jésus lui répondit: Les renards ont des tanières, et les oiseaux du ciel ont des nids; mais le Fils de l'homme n'a pas où reposer sa tête.

²⁰ויאמר אליו ישוע לשועלים יש חורי עפר ולעוף השמים קנים ובן האדם אין לו מקום להניח שם את ראשו׃

²¹And another of the disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

²¹Un autre, d'entre les disciples, lui dit: Seigneur, permets-moi d'aller d'abord ensevelir mon père.

²¹ואחר מן התלמידים אמר אליו אדני הניחה לי בראשונה ללכת ולקבר את אבי׃

²²But Jesus saith unto him, Follow me; and leave the dead to bury their own dead.

²²Mais Jésus lui répondit: Suis-moi, et laisse les morts ensevelir leurs morts.

²²ויאמר אליו ישוע לך אחרי והנח למתים לקבר את מתיהם׃

²³And when he was entered into a boat, his disciples followed him.

²³Il monta dans la barque, et ses disciples le suivirent.

²³וירד אל האניה וירדו אתו תלמידיו׃

²⁴And behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the boat was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

²⁴Et voici, il s'éleva sur la mer une si grande tempête que la barque était couverte par les flots. Et lui, il dormait.

²⁴והנה סער גדול היה בים ותכסה האניה בגלים והוא ישן׃

²⁵And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Save, Lord; we perish.

²⁵Les disciples s'étant approchés le réveillèrent, et dirent: Seigneur, sauve-nous, nous périssons!

²⁵ויגשו אליו תלמידיו ויעירו אותו לאמר הושיענו אדנינו אבדנו׃

²⁶And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

²⁶Il leur dit: Pourquoi avez-vous peur, gens de peu de foi? Alors il se leva, menaça les vents et la mer, et il y eut un grand calme.

²⁶ויאמר אליהם קטני האמונה למה זה יראתם ויקם ויגער ברוחות ובים ותהי דממה גדולה׃

²⁷And the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?

²⁷Ces hommes furent saisis d'étonnement: Quel est celui-ci, disaient-ils, à qui obéissent même les vents et la mer?

²⁷ויתמהו האנשים ויאמרו מי אפוא הוא אמר גם הרוחות והים לו ישמעון׃

²⁸And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gadarenes, there met him two possessed with demons, coming forth out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man could pass by that way.

²⁸Lorsqu'il fut à l'autre bord, dans le pays des Gadaréniens, deux démoniaques, sortant des sépulcres, vinrent au-devant de lui. Ils étaient si furieux que personne n'osait passer par là.

²⁸ויהי כבאו אל עבר הים אל ארץ הגרגשים ויפגשוהו שני אנשים אחוזי שדים יצאים מבתי הקברות והמה רגונים מאד עד אשר לא יכל איש לעבר בדרך ההוא׃

²⁹And behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

²⁹Et voici, ils s'écrièrent: Qu'y a-t-il entre nous et toi, Fils de Dieu? Es-tu venu ici pour nous tourmenter avant le temps?

²⁹והנה הם צעקים לאמר מה לנו ולך ישוע בן האלהים הבאת הלם לענותנו בלא עתנו׃

³⁰Now there was afar off from them a herd of many swine feeding.

³⁰Il y avait loin d'eux un grand troupeau de pourceaux qui paissaient.

³⁰ועדר חזירים רבים היה שם במרעה הרחק מהם׃

³¹And the demons besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, send us away into the herd of swine.

³¹Les démons priaient Jésus, disant: Si tu nous chasses, envoie-nous dans ce troupeau de pourceaux.

³¹ויתחננו אליו השדים לאמר אם תגרשנו שלחנו בעדר החזירים׃

³²And he said unto them, Go. And they came out, and went into the swine: and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep into the sea, and perished in the waters.

³²Il leur dit: Allez! Ils sortirent, et entrèrent dans les pourceaux. Et voici, tout le troupeau se précipita des pentes escarpées dans la mer, et ils périrent dans les eaux.

³²ויאמר אליהם לכו לכם ויצאו ויבאו בעדר החזירים והנה השתער כל עדר החזירים מן המורד על הים וימותו במים׃

³³And they that fed them fled, and went away into the city, and told everything, and what was befallen to them that were possessed with demons.

³³Ceux qui les faisaient paître s'enfuirent, et allèrent dans la ville raconter tout ce qui s'était passé et ce qui était arrivé aux démoniaques.

³³וינוסו הרעים ויבאו העירה ויגידו את הכל ואת אשר נעשה לאחוזי השדים׃

³⁴And behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought [him] that he would depart from their borders.

³⁴Alors toute la ville sortit à la rencontre de Jésus; et, dès qu'ils le virent, ils le supplièrent de quitter leur territoire.

³⁴והנה כל העיר יצאה לקראת ישוע וכראותם אתו ויבקשו ממנו לעבר מגבולם׃
