²and to Apphia our sister, and to Archippus our fellow-soldier, and to the church in thy house:

²ואל אפיה האהובה ואל ארכפוס חבר מלחמתינו ואל הקהלה אשר בביתך׃

³Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

³que la grâce et la paix vous soient données de la part de Dieu notre Père et du Seigneur Jésus-Christ!

³חסד לכם ושלום מאת אלהים אבינו ואדנינו ישוע המשיח׃

⁴I thank my God always, making mention of thee in my prayers,

⁴Je rends continuellement grâces à mon Dieu, faisant mention de toi dans mes prières,

⁴מודה אני לאלהי בכל עת בהזכירי אתך בתפלותי׃

⁵hearing of thy love, and of the faith which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all the saints;

⁵parce que je suis informé de la foi que tu as au Seigneur Jésus et de ta charité pour tous les saints.

⁵אחרי שמעי אהבתך ואמונתך אשר בך לאדנינו ישוע ולכל הקדושים׃

⁶that the fellowship of thy faith may become effectual, in the knowledge of every good thing which is in you, unto Christ.

⁶Je lui demande que ta participation à la foi soit efficace pour la cause de Christ, en faisant reconnaître en nous toute espèce de bien.

⁶למען אשר תאמץ התחברות אמונתך בדעת כל טוב אשר בכם לשם המשיח׃

⁷For I had much joy and comfort in thy love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through thee, brother.

⁷J'ai, en effet, éprouvé beaucoup de joie et de consolation au sujet de ta charité; car par toi, frère, le coeur des saints a été tranquillisé.

⁷כי שמחה גדולה ונחמה יש לנו באהבתך באשר היתה רוחה למעי הקדושים אחי על ידיך׃

⁸Wherefore, though I have all boldness in Christ to enjoin thee that which is befitting,

⁸C'est pourquoi, bien que j'aie en Christ toute liberté de te prescrire ce qui est convenable,

⁸לכן אף כי יש לי בטחון רב במשיח לצותך את הראוי לך הנה בחרתי למען האהבה לחלות את פניך׃

⁹yet for love's sake I rather beseech, being such a one as Paul the aged, and now a prisoner also of Christ Jesus:

⁹c'est de préférence au nom de la charité que je t'adresse une prière, étant ce que je suis, Paul, vieillard, et de plus maintenant prisonnier de Jésus-Christ.

⁹כאשר הנה אנכי פולוס איש זקן ועתה גם אסיר ישוע המשיח׃

¹⁰I beseech thee for my child, whom I have begotten in my bonds, Onesimus,

¹⁰Je te prie pour mon enfant, que j'ai engendré étant dans les chaînes, Onésime,

¹⁰אבקשה ממך על בני אשר הוללתיו במוסרי על אניסימוס׃

¹¹who once was unprofitable to thee, but now is profitable to thee and to me:

¹¹qui autrefois t'a été inutile, mais qui maintenant est utile, et à toi et à moi.

¹¹אשר מלפנים לא הועיל לך ועתה הוא להועיל גם לך גם לי והשיבתיו אליך׃

¹²whom I have sent back to thee in his own person, that is, my very heart:

¹²Je te le renvoie lui, mes propres entrailles.

¹²ואתה קבל נא אתו שהוא מעי׃

¹³whom I would fain have kept with me, that in thy behalf he might minister unto me in the bonds of the gospel:

¹³J'aurais désiré le retenir auprès de moi, pour qu'il me servît à ta place, pendant que je suis dans les chaînes pour l'Evangile.

¹³חפצתי לעצר אתו אצלי שישרתני תחתיך במוסרות הבשורה׃

¹⁴but without thy mind I would do nothing; that thy goodness should not be as of necessity, but of free will.

¹⁴Toutefois, je n'ai rien voulu faire sans ton avis, afin que ton bienfait ne soit pas comme forcé, mais qu'il soit volontaire.

¹⁴אבל בלי רצונך לא אביתי לעשות דבר למען לא תהיה טובתך באנס כי אם בנדבה׃

¹⁵For perhaps he was therefore parted [from thee] for a season, that thou shouldest have him for ever;

¹⁵Peut-être a-t-il été séparé de toi pour un temps, afin que tu le recouvres pour l'éternité,

¹⁵כי אולי נפרד ממך לשעה בעבור אשר יהיה לך לעולם׃

¹⁶no longer as a servant, but more than a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much rather to thee, both in the flesh and in the Lord.

¹⁶non plus comme un esclave, mais comme supérieur à un esclave, comme un frère bien-aimé, de moi particulièrement, et de toi à plus forte raison, soit dans la chair, soit dans le Seigneur.

¹⁶ומעתה לא כעבד כי אם למעלה מעבד כאח אהוב שכן הוא לי ביותר ואף כי לך הן בבשר הן באדון׃

¹⁷If then thou countest me a partner, receive him as myself.

¹⁷Si donc tu me tiens pour ton ami, reçois-le comme moi-même.

¹⁷והנה אם תחשבני לחבר לך תקבלנו כמוני׃

¹⁸But if he hath wronged the at all, or oweth [thee] aught, put that to mine account;

¹⁸Et s'il t'a fait quelque tort, ou s'il te doit quelque chose, mets-le sur mon compte.

¹⁸ואם הרע לך בדבר או חיב הוא לך דבר חשבהו לי׃

¹⁹I Paul write it with mine own hand, I will repay it: that I say not unto thee that thou owest to me even thine own self besides.

¹⁹Moi Paul, je l'écris de ma propre main, -je paierai, pour ne pas te dire que tu te dois toi-même à moi.

¹⁹אני פולוס כתבתי בידי אני אשלם ולא אמר כי אתה חיב לי גם את נפשך׃

²⁰Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my heart in Christ.

²⁰Oui, frère, que j'obtienne de toi cet avantage, dans le Seigneur; tranquillise mon coeur en Christ.

²⁰כן אחי אהנה נא ממך באדון נחם נא את מעי באדון׃

²¹Having confidence in thine obedience I write unto thee, knowing that thou wilt do even beyond what I say.

²¹C'est en comptant sur ton obéissance que je t'écris, sachant que tu feras même au delà de ce que je dis.

²¹בבטחוני כי תשמע לי כתבתי אליך ויודע אני כי תעשה יותר ממה שאמרתי׃

²²But withal prepare me also a lodging: for I hope that through your prayers I shall be granted unto you.

²²En même temps, prépare-moi un logement, car j'espère vous être rendu, grâce à vos prières.

²²ועם זה גם תכין לי בית מלון כי אקוה אשר אנתן לכם על ידי תפלותיכם׃

²³Epaphras, my fellow-prisoner in Christ Jesus, saluteth thee;

²³Epaphras, mon compagnon de captivité en Jésus-Christ, te salue,

²³אפפרס האסור אתי במשיח ישוע׃

²⁴[and so do] Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, Luke, my fellow-workers.

²⁴ainsi que Marc, Aristarque, Démas, Luc, mes compagnons d'oeuvre.

²⁴ומרקוס וארסטרכוס ודימס ולוקס עזרי שאלים לשלומך׃

²⁵The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
