¹For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. The king shall joy in thy strength, O Jehovah; And in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!

¹Au chef des chantres. Psaume de David. Eternel! le roi se réjouit de ta protection puissante. Oh! comme ton secours le remplit d'allégresse!

¹למנצח מזמור לדוד יהוה בעזך ישמח מלך ובישועתך מה יגיל מאד׃

²Thou hast given him his heart's desire, And hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah

²Tu lui as donné ce que désirait son coeur, Et tu n'as pas refusé ce que demandaient ses lèvres. -Pause.

²תאות לבו נתתה לו וארשת שפתיו בל מנעת סלה׃

³For thou meetest him with the blessings of goodness: Thou settest a crown of fine gold on his head.

³Car tu l'as prévenu par les bénédictions de ta grâce, Tu as mis sur sa tête une couronne d'or pur.

³כי תקדמנו ברכות טוב תשית לראשו עטרת פז׃

⁴He asked life of thee, thou gavest it him, Even length of days for ever and ever.

⁴Il te demandait la vie, tu la lui as donnée, Une vie longue pour toujours et à perpétuité.

⁴חיים שאל ממך נתתה לו ארך ימים עולם ועד׃

⁵His glory is great in thy salvation: Honor and majesty dost thou lay upon him.

⁵Sa gloire est grande à cause de ton secours; Tu places sur lui l'éclat et la magnificence.

⁵גדול כבודו בישועתך הוד והדר תשוה עליו׃

⁶For thou makest him most blessed for ever: Thou makest him glad with joy in thy presence.

⁶Tu le rends à jamais un objet de bénédictions, Tu le combles de joie devant ta face.

⁶כי תשיתהו ברכות לעד תחדהו בשמחה את פניך׃

⁷For the king trusteth in Jehovah; And through the lovingkindness of the Most High he shall not be moved.

⁷Le roi se confie en l'Eternel; Et, par la bonté du Très-Haut, il ne chancelle pas.

⁷כי המלך בטח ביהוה ובחסד עליון בל ימוט׃

⁸Thy hand will find out all thine enemies; Thy right hand will find out those that hate thee.

⁸Ta main trouvera tous tes ennemis, Ta droite trouvera ceux qui te haïssent.

⁸תמצא ידך לכל איביך ימינך תמצא שנאיך׃

⁹Thou wilt make them as a fiery furnace in the time of thine anger: Jehovah will swallow them up in his wrath, And the fire shall devour them.

⁹Tu les rendras tels qu'une fournaise ardente, Le jour où tu te montreras; L'Eternel les anéantira dans sa colère, Et le feu les dévorera.

⁹תשיתמו כתנור אש לעת פניך יהוה באפו יבלעם ותאכלם אש׃

¹⁰Their fruit wilt thou destroy from the earth, And their seed from among the children of men.

¹⁰Tu feras disparaître leur postérité de la terre, Et leur race du milieu des fils de l'homme.

¹⁰פרימו מארץ תאבד וזרעם מבני אדם׃

¹¹For they intended evil against thee; They conceived a device which they are not able to perform.

¹¹Ils ont projeté du mal contre toi, Ils ont conçu de mauvais desseins, mais ils seront impuissants.

¹¹כי נטו עליך רעה חשבו מזמה בל יוכלו׃

¹²For thou wilt make them turn their back; Thou wilt make ready with thy bowstrings against their face.

¹²Car tu leur feras tourner le dos, Et avec ton arc tu tireras sur eux.

¹²כי תשיתמו שכם במיתריך תכונן על פניהם׃

¹³Be thou exalted, O Jehovah, in thy strength: So will we sing and praise thy power.

¹³Lève-toi, Eternel, avec ta force! Nous voulons chanter, célébrer ta puissance.

¹³רומה יהוה בעזך נשירה ונזמרה גבורתך׃
