1For the Chief Musician. Maschil of David; when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Abimelech. Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? The lovingkindness of God [endureth] continually.
1Au chef des chantres. Cantique de David. A l'occasion du rapport que Doëg, l'Edomite, vint faire à Saül, en lui disant: David s'est rendu dans la maison d'Achimélec. Pourquoi te glorifies-tu de ta méchanceté, tyran? La bonté de Dieu subsiste toujours.
1למנצח משכיל לדוד בבוא דואג האדמי ויגד לשאול ויאמר לו בא דוד אל בית אחימלך מה תתהלל ברעה הגבור חסד אל כל היום׃
2Thy tongue deviseth very wickedness, Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
2Ta langue n'invente que malice, comme un rasoir affilé, fourbe que tu es!
2הוות תחשב לשונך כתער מלטש עשה רמיה׃
3Thou lovest evil more than good, And lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah
3Tu aimes le mal plutôt que le bien, Le mensonge plutôt que la droiture. -Pause.
3אהבת רע מטוב שקר מדבר צדק סלה׃
4Thou lovest all devouring words, thou deceitful tongue.
4Tu aimes toutes les paroles de destruction, Langue trompeuse!
4אהבת כל דברי בלע לשון מרמה׃
5God will likewise destroy thee for ever; He will take thee up, and pluck thee out of thy tent, And root thee out of the land of the living. Selah
5Aussi Dieu t'abattra pour toujours, Il te saisira et t'enlèvera de ta tente; Il te déracinera de la terre des vivants. -Pause.
5גם אל יתצך לנצח יחתך ויסחך מאהל ושרשך מארץ חיים סלה׃
6The righteous also shall see [it], and fear, And shall laugh at him, [saying],
6Les justes le verront, et auront de la crainte, Et ils feront de lui le sujet de leurs moqueries:
6ויראו צדיקים וייראו ועליו ישחקו׃
7Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength, But trusted in the abundance of his riches, And strengthened himself in his wickedness.
7Voilà l'homme qui ne prenait point Dieu pour protecteur, Mais qui se confiait en ses grandes richesses, Et qui triomphait dans sa malice!
7הנה הגבר לא ישים אלהים מעוזו ויבטח ברב עשרו יעז בהותו׃
8But as for me, I am like a green olive-tree in the house of God: I trust in the lovingkindness of God for ever and ever.
8Et moi, je suis dans la maison de Dieu comme un olivier verdoyant, Je me confie dans la bonté de Dieu, éternellement et à jamais.
8ואני כזית רענן בבית אלהים בטחתי בחסד אלהים עולם ועד׃
9I will give thee thanks for ever, because thou hast done it; And I will hope in thy name, for it is good, in the presence of thy saints.
9Je te louerai toujours, parce que tu as agi; Et je veux espérer en ton nom, parce qu'il est favorable, En présence de tes fidèles.
9אודך לעולם כי עשית ואקוה שמך כי טוב נגד חסידיך׃
