¹For the Chief Musician; on stringed instruments. Maschil of David. Give ear to my prayer, O God; And hide not thyself from my supplication.

¹Au chef des chantres. Avec instruments à cordes. Cantique de David. O Dieu! prête l'oreille à ma prière, Et ne te dérobe pas à mes supplications!

¹למנצח בנגינת משכיל לדוד האזינה אלהים תפלתי ואל תתעלם מתחנתי׃

²Attend unto me, and answer me: I am restless in my complaint, and moan,

²Ecoute-moi, et réponds-moi! J'erre çà et là dans mon chagrin et je m'agite,

²הקשיבה לי וענני אריד בשיחי ואהימה׃

³Because of the voice of the enemy, Because of the oppression of the wicked; For they cast iniquity upon me, And in anger they persecute me.

³A cause de la voix de l'ennemi et de l'oppression du méchant; Car ils font tomber sur moi le malheur, Et me poursuivent avec colère.

³מקול אויב מפני עקת רשע כי ימיטו עלי און ובאף ישטמוני׃

⁴My heart is sore pained within me: And the terrors of death are fallen upon me.

⁴Mon coeur tremble au dedans de moi, Et les terreurs de la mort me surprennent;

⁴לבי יחיל בקרבי ואימות מות נפלו עלי׃

⁵Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, And horror hath overwhelmed me.

⁵La crainte et l'épouvante m'assaillent, Et le frisson m'enveloppe.

⁵יראה ורעד יבא בי ותכסני פלצות׃

⁶And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! Then would I fly away, and be at rest.

⁶Je dis: Oh! si j'avais les ailes de la colombe, Je m'envolerais, et je trouverais le repos;

⁶ואמר מי יתן לי אבר כיונה אעופה ואשכנה׃

⁷Lo, then would I wander far off, I would lodge in the wilderness. Selah

⁷Voici, je fuirais bien loin, J'irais séjourner au désert; -Pause.

⁷הנה ארחיק נדד אלין במדבר סלה׃

⁸I would haste me to a shelter From the stormy wind and tempest.

⁸Je m'échapperais en toute hâte, Plus rapide que le vent impétueux, que la tempête.

⁸אחישה מפלט לי מרוח סעה מסער׃

⁹Destroy, O Lord, [and] divide their tongue; For I have seen violence and strife in the city.

⁹Réduis à néant, Seigneur, divise leurs langues! Car je vois dans la ville la violence et les querelles;

⁹בלע אדני פלג לשונם כי ראיתי חמס וריב בעיר׃

¹⁰Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: Iniquity also and mischief are in the midst of it.

¹⁰Elles en font jour et nuit le tour sur les murs; L'iniquité et la malice sont dans son sein;

¹⁰יומם ולילה יסובבה על חומתיה ואון ועמל בקרבה׃

¹¹Wickedness is in the midst thereof: Oppression and guile depart not from its streets.

¹¹La méchanceté est au milieu d'elle, Et la fraude et la tromperie ne quittent point ses places.

¹¹הוות בקרבה ולא ימיש מרחבה תך ומרמה׃

¹²For it was not an enemy that reproached me; Then I could have borne it: Neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; Then I would have hid myself from him:

¹²Ce n'est pas un ennemi qui m'outrage, je le supporterais; Ce n'est pas mon adversaire qui s'élève contre moi, Je me cacherais devant lui.

¹²כי לא אויב יחרפני ואשא לא משנאי עלי הגדיל ואסתר ממנו׃

¹³But it was thou, a man mine equal, My companion, and my familiar friend.

¹³C'est toi, que j'estimais mon égal, Toi, mon confident et mon ami!

¹³ואתה אנוש כערכי אלופי ומידעי׃

¹⁴We took sweet counsel together; We walked in the house of God with the throng.

¹⁴Ensemble nous vivions dans une douce intimité, Nous allions avec la foule à la maison de Dieu!

¹⁴אשר יחדו נמתיק סוד בבית אלהים נהלך ברגש׃

¹⁵Let death come suddenly upon them, Let them go down alive into Sheol; For wickedness is in their dwelling, in the midst of them.

¹⁵Que la mort les surprenne, Qu'ils descendent vivants au séjour des morts! Car la méchanceté est dans leur demeure, au milieu d'eux.

¹⁵ישימות עלימו ירדו שאול חיים כי רעות במגורם בקרבם׃

¹⁶As for me, I will call upon God; And Jehovah will save me.

¹⁶Et moi, je crie à Dieu, Et l'Eternel me sauvera.

¹⁶אני אל אלהים אקרא ויהוה יושיעני׃

¹⁷Evening, and morning, and at noonday, will I complain, and moan; And he will hear my voice.

¹⁷Le soir, le matin, et à midi, je soupire et je gémis, Et il entendra ma voix.

¹⁷ערב ובקר וצהרים אשיחה ואהמה וישמע קולי׃

¹⁸He hath redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me; For they were many [that strove] with me.

¹⁸Il me délivrera de leur approche et me rendra la paix, Car ils sont nombreux contre moi.

¹⁸פדה בשלום נפשי מקרב לי כי ברבים היו עמדי׃

¹⁹God will hear, and answer them, Even he that abideth of old, Selah [The men] who have no changes, And who fear not God.

¹⁹Dieu entendra, et il les humiliera, Lui qui de toute éternité est assis sur son trône; -Pause. Car il n'y a point en eux de changement, Et ils ne craignent point Dieu.

¹⁹ישמע אל ויענם וישב קדם סלה אשר אין חליפות למו ולא יראו אלהים׃

²⁰He hath put forth his hands against such as were at peace with him: He hath profaned his covenant.

²⁰Il porte la main sur ceux qui étaient en paix avec lui, Il viole son alliance;

²⁰שלח ידיו בשלמיו חלל בריתו׃

²¹His mouth was smooth as butter, But his heart was war: His words were softer than oil, Yet were they drawn swords.

²¹Sa bouche est plus douce que la crème, Mais la guerre est dans son coeur; Ses paroles sont plus onctueuses que l'huile, Mais ce sont des épées nues.

²¹חלקו מחמאת פיו וקרב לבו רכו דבריו משמן והמה פתחות׃

²²Cast thy burden upon Jehovah, and he will sustain thee: He will never suffer the righteous to be moved.

²²Remets ton sort à l'Eternel, et il te soutiendra, Il ne laissera jamais chanceler le juste.

²²השלך על יהוה יהבך והוא יכלכלך לא יתן לעולם מוט לצדיק׃

²³But thou, O God, wilt bring them down into the pit of destruction: Bloodthirsty and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; But I will trust in thee.

²³Et toi, ô Dieu! tu les feras descendre au fond de la fosse; Les hommes de sang et de fraude N'atteindront pas la moitié de leurs jours. C'est en toi que je me confie.

²³ואתה אלהים תורדם לבאר שחת אנשי דמים ומרמה לא יחצו ימיהם ואני אבטח בך׃
