¹And there came one of the seven angels that had the seven bowls, and spake with me, saying, Come hither, I will show thee the judgment of the great harlot that sitteth upon many waters;

¹Puis un des sept anges qui tenaient les sept coupes vint, et il m'adressa la parole, en disant: Viens, je te montrerai le jugement de la grande prostituée qui est assise sur les grandes eaux.

¹ויבא אחד מן שבעה המלאכים הנשאים שבע הקערות וידבר אלי לאמר בא ואראך את משפט הזונה הגדולה הישבת על מים רבים׃

²with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and they that dwell in the earth were made drunken with the wine of her fornication.

²C'est avec elle que les rois de la terre se sont livrés à l'impudicité, et c'est du vin de son impudicité que les habitants de la terre se sont enivrés.

²אשר זנו אתה מלכי האדמה וישכרו שכני תבל מיין תזנותה׃

³And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness: and I saw a woman sitting upon a scarlet-colored beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

³Il me transporta en esprit dans un désert. Et je vis une femme assise sur une bête écarlate, pleine de noms de blasphème, ayant sept têtes et dix cornes.

³ויוליכני ברוח המדברה וארא והנה אשה ישבת על חיה אדמה כתולע מלאת שמות גדופים ולה שבעה ראשים ועשר קרנים׃

⁴And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stone and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations, even the unclean things of her fornication,

⁴Cette femme était vêtue de pourpre et d'écarlate, et parée d'or, de pierres précieuses et de perles. Elle tenait dans sa main une coupe d'or, remplie d'abominations et des impuretés de sa prostitution.

⁴והאשה לבושה ארגמן ושני והיא מכללה בזהב ואבן יקרה ופנינים ובידה כוס זהב מלאה תועבות וטמאת תזנותה׃

⁵and upon her forehead a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF THE HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

⁵Sur son front était écrit un nom, un mystère: Babylone la grande, la mère des impudiques et des abominations de la terre.

⁵ועל מצחה כתוב שם סוד בבל הגדולה אם הזנות ותועבות האדמה׃

⁶And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I wondered with a great wonder.

⁶Et je vis cette femme ivre du sang des saints et du sang des témoins de Jésus. Et, en la voyant, je fus saisi d'un grand étonnement.

⁶וארא את האשה שכורה מדם הקדשים ומדם עדי ישוע ואשתומם על המראה שמה גדולה׃

⁷And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou wonder? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and the ten horns.

⁷Et l'ange me dit: Pourquoi t'étonnes-tu? Je te dirai le mystère de la femme et de la bête qui la porte, qui a les sept têtes et les dix cornes.

⁷ויאמר אלי המלאך למה זה השתוממת אני אמר לך את סוד האשה והחיה הנשאת אתה בעלת שבעת הראשים ועשרת הקרנים׃

⁸The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and is about to come up out of the abyss, and to go into perdition. And they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, [they] whose name hath not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast, how that he was, and is not, and shall come.

⁸La bête que tu as vue était, et elle n'est plus. Elle doit monter de l'abîme, et aller à la perdition. Et les habitants de la terre, ceux dont le nom n'a pas été écrit dès la fondation du monde dans le livre de vie, s'étonneront en voyant la bête, parce qu'elle était, et qu'elle n'est plus, et qu'elle reparaîtra. -

⁸החיה אשר ראיתה היתה ואיננה ועתידה לעלות מן התהום וללכת לאבדון וישבי הארץ אשר שמם איננו נכתב בספר החיים מיום הוסד תבל ישתוממו בראתם את החיה אשר היתה ואיננה ותבוא׃

⁹Here is the mind that hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth:

⁹C'est ici l'intelligence qui a de la sagesse. -Les sept têtes sont sept montagnes, sur lesquelles la femme est assise.

⁹בזה להבין לאשר לו חכמה שבעת הראשים שבעת הרים המה אשר האשה ישבת עליהם׃

¹⁰and they are seven kings; the five are fallen, the one is, the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a little while.

¹⁰Ce sont aussi sept rois: cinq sont tombés, un existe, l'autre n'est pas encore venu, et quand il sera venu, il doit rester peu de temps.

¹⁰ושבעה מלכים המה חמשה מהם נפלו והאחד ישנו והאחר עוד לא בא והיה כי יבוא עמד יעמד לעת מעט׃

¹¹And the beast that was, and is not, is himself also an eighth, and is of the seven; and he goeth into perdition.

¹¹Et la bête qui était, et qui n'est plus, est elle-même un huitième roi, et elle est du nombre des sept, et elle va à la perdition.

¹¹והחיה אשר היתה ואיננה הוא השמיני והוא מן השבעה וילך לאבדון׃

¹²And the ten horns that thou sawest are ten kings, who have received no kingdom as yet; but they receive authority as kings, with the beast, for one hour.

¹²Les dix cornes que tu as vues sont dix rois, qui n'ont pas encore reçu de royaume, mais qui reçoivent autorité comme rois pendant une heure avec la bête.

¹²ועשר הקרנים אשר ראית עשרה מלכים הם אשר לא קבלו מלכות עד הנה רק לשעה אחת ממשלה כמלכים יקבלו עם החיה׃

¹³These have one mind, and they give their power and authority unto the beast.

¹³Ils ont un même dessein, et ils donnent leur puissance et leur autorité à la bête.

¹³ולאלה עצה אחת ואת כחם ואת ממשלתם יתנו לחיה׃

¹⁴These shall war against the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them, for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings; and they [also shall overcome] that are with him, called and chosen and faithful.

¹⁴Ils combattront contre l'agneau, et l'agneau les vaincra, parce qu'il est le Seigneur des seigneurs et le Roi des rois, et les appelés, les élus et les fidèles qui sont avec lui les vaincront aussi.

¹⁴המה ילחמו בשה והשה יכול יוכל להם כי הוא אדני האדנים ומלך המלכים ועמו הקרואים והבחירים והנאמנים׃

¹⁵And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the harlot sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

¹⁵Et il me dit: Les eaux que tu as vues, sur lesquelles la prostituée est assise, ce sont des peuples, des foules, des nations, et des langues.

¹⁵ויאמר אלי המים ההם אשר ראית אשר הזונה ישבת עליהם עמים והמנים המה וגוים ולשנות׃

¹⁶And the ten horns which thou sawest, and the beast, these shall hate the harlot, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and shall burn her utterly with fire.

¹⁶Les dix cornes que tu as vues et la bête haïront la prostituée, la dépouilleront et la mettront à nu, mangeront ses chairs, et la consumeront par le feu.

¹⁶ועשר הקרנים אשר ראית והחיה המה ישנאו את הזונה ועשוה גלמודה וערמה ואכלו את בשרה ואתה ישרפו באש׃

¹⁷For God did put in their hearts to do his mind, and to come to one mind, and to give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God should be accomplished.

¹⁷Car Dieu a mis dans leurs coeurs d'exécuter son dessein et d'exécuter un même dessein, et de donner leur royauté à la bête, jusqu'à ce que les paroles de Dieu soient accomplies.

¹⁷כי האלהים נתן בלבם לעשות את עצתו ולעשות עצה אחת ולתת את ממשלתם לחיה עד כי ישלמו דברי האלהים׃

¹⁸And the woman whom thou sawest is the great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

¹⁸Et la femme que tu as vue, c'est la grande ville qui a la royauté sur les rois de la terre.

¹⁸והאשה אשר ראית היא העיר הגדולה אשר היא נברת ממלכות הארץ׃
