¹Howbeit, Job, I pray thee, hear my speech, And hearken to all my words.

¹Итак слушай, Иов, речи мои и внимай всем словам моим.

²Behold now, I have opened my mouth; My tongue hath spoken in my mouth.

²Вот, я открываю уста мои, язык мой говорит в гортани моей.

³My words [shall utter] the uprightness of my heart; And that which my lips know they shall speak sincerely.

³Слова мои от искренности моего сердца, и уста мои произнесут знание чистое.

⁴The Spirit of God hath made me, And the breath of the Almighty giveth me life.

⁴Дух Божий создал меня, и дыхание Вседержителя дало мне жизнь.

⁵If thou canst, answer thou me; Set [thy words] in order before me, stand forth.

⁵Если можешь, отвечай мне и стань передо мною.

⁶Behold, I am toward God even as thou art: I also am formed out of the clay.

⁶Вот я, по желанию твоему, вместо Бога. Я образован также из брения;

⁷Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, Neither shall my pressure be heavy upon thee.

⁷поэтому страх передо мною не может смутить тебя, и рука моя не будет тяжела для тебя.

⁸Surely thou hast spoken in my hearing, And I have heard the voice of [thy] words, [saying],

⁸Ты говорил в уши мои, и я слышал звук слов:

⁹I am clean, without transgression; I am innocent, neither is there iniquity in me:

⁹чист я, без порока, невинен я, и нет во мне неправды;

¹⁰Behold, he findeth occasions against me, He counteth me for his enemy:

¹⁰а Он нашел обвинение против меня и считает меня Своим противником;

¹¹He putteth my feet in the stocks, He marketh all my paths.

¹¹поставил ноги мои в колоду, наблюдает за всеми путями моими.

¹²Behold, I will answer thee, in this thou art not just; For God is greater than man.

¹²Вот в этом ты неправ, отвечаю тебе, потому что Бог выше человека.

¹³Why dost thou strive against him, For that he giveth not account of any of his matters?

¹³Для чего тебе состязаться с Ним? Он не дает отчета ни в каких делах Своих.

¹⁴For God speaketh once, Yea twice, [though man] regardeth it not.

¹⁴Бог говорит однажды и, если того не заметят, в другой раз:

¹⁵In a dream, in a vision of the night, When deep sleep falleth upon men, In slumberings upon the bed;

¹⁵во сне, в ночном видении, когда сон находит на людей, во время дремоты на ложе.

¹⁶Then he openeth the ears of men, And sealeth their instruction,

¹⁶Тогда Он открывает у человека ухо и запечатлевает Свое наставление,

¹⁷That he may withdraw man [from his] purpose, And hide pride from man;

¹⁷чтобы отвести человека от какого-либо предприятия и удалить от него гордость,

¹⁸He keepeth back his soul from the pit, And his life from perishing by the sword.

¹⁸чтобы отвести душу его от пропасти и жизнь его от поражения мечом.

¹⁹He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, And with continual strife in his bones;

¹⁹Или он вразумляется болезнью на ложе своем и жестокою болью вовсех костях своих, –

²⁰So that his life abhorreth bread, And his soul dainty food.

²⁰и жизнь его отвращается от хлеба и душа его от любимой пищи.

²¹His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; And his bones that were not seen stick out.

²¹Плоть на нем пропадает, так что ее не видно, и показываются кости его, которых не было видно.

²²Yea, his soul draweth near unto the pit, And his life to the destroyers.

²²И душа его приближается к могиле и жизнь его – к смерти.

²³If there be with him an angel, An interpreter, one among a thousand, To show unto man what is right for him;

²³Если есть у него Ангел-наставник, один из тысячи, чтобы показатьчеловеку прямой путь его, –

²⁴Then [God] is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit, I have found a ransom.

²⁴Бог умилосердится над ним и скажет: освободи его от могилы; Я нашел умилостивление.

²⁵His flesh shall be fresher than a child's; He returneth to the days of his youth.

²⁵Тогда тело его сделается свежее, нежели в молодости; он возвратится к дням юности своей.

²⁶He prayeth unto God, and he is favorable unto him, So that he seeth his face with joy: And he restoreth unto man his righteousness.

²⁶Будет молиться Богу, и Он – милостив к нему; с радостью взирает налице его и возвращает человеку праведность его.

²⁷He singeth before men, and saith, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, And it profited me not:

²⁷Он будет смотреть на людей и говорить: грешил я и превращал правду, и не воздано мне;

²⁸He hath redeemed my soul from going into the pit, And my life shall behold the light.

²⁸Он освободил душу мою от могилы, и жизнь моя видит свет.

²⁹Lo, all these things doth God work, Twice, [yea] thrice, with a man,

²⁹Вот, все это делает Бог два-три раза с человеком,

³⁰To bring back his soul from the pit, That he may be enlightened with the light of the living.

³⁰чтобы отвести душу его от могилы и просветить его светом живых.

³¹Mark well, O Job, hearken unto me: Hold thy peace, and I will speak.

³¹Внимай, Иов, слушай меня, молчи, и я буду говорить.

³²If thou hast anything to say, answer me: Speak, for I desire to justify thee.

³²Если имеешь, что сказать, отвечай; говори, потому что я желал бытвоего оправдания;

³³If not, hearken thou unto me: Hold thy peace, and I will teach thee wisdom.

³³если же нет, то слушай меня: молчи, и я научу тебя мудрости.
