¹The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father; But a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.

¹Притчи Соломона. Сын мудрый радует отца, а сын глупый – огорчение для его матери.

²Treasures of wickedness profit nothing; But righteousness delivereth from death.

²Не доставляют пользы сокровища неправедные, правдаже избавляет от смерти.

³Jehovah will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish; But he thrusteth away the desire of the wicked.

³Не допустит Господь терпеть голод душе праведного, стяжание же нечестивых исторгнет.

⁴He becometh poor that worketh with a slack hand; But the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

⁴Ленивая рука делает бедным, а рука прилежных обогащает.

⁵He that gathereth in summer is a wise son; [But] he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

⁵Собирающий во время лета – сын разумный, спящий же во время жатвы – сын беспутный.

⁶Blessings are upon the head of the righteous; But violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

⁶Благословения – на голове праведника, уста же беззаконных заградит насилие.

⁷The memory of the righteous is blessed; But the name of the wicked shall rot.

⁷Память праведника пребудет благословенна, а имя нечестивых омерзеет.

⁸The wise in heart will receive commandments; But a prating fool shall fall.

⁸Мудрый сердцем принимает заповеди, а глупый устами преткнется.

⁹He that walketh uprightly walketh surely; But he that perverteth his ways shall be known.

⁹Кто ходит в непорочности, тот ходит безопасно; а кто превращает пути свои, тот будет наказан.

¹⁰He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow; But a prating fool shall fall.

¹⁰Кто мигает глазами, тот причиняет досаду, а глупый устами преткнется.

¹¹The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life; But violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

¹¹Уста праведника – источник жизни, уста же беззаконных заградитнасилие.

¹²Hatred stirreth up strifes; But love covereth all transgressions.

¹²Ненависть возбуждает раздоры, но любовь покрывает все грехи.

¹³In the lips of him that hath discernment wisdom is found; But a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.

¹³В устах разумного находится мудрость, но на теле глупого – розга.

¹⁴Wise men lay up knowledge; But the mouth of the foolish is a present destruction.

¹⁴Мудрые сберегают знание, но уста глупого – близкая погибель.

¹⁵The rich man's wealth is his strong city: The destruction of the poor is their poverty.

¹⁵Имущество богатого – крепкий город его, беда для бедных – скудость их.

¹⁶The labor of the righteous [tendeth] to life; The increase of the wicked, to sin.

¹⁶Труды праведного – к жизни, успех нечестивого – ко греху.

¹⁷He is in the way of life that heedeth correction; But he that forsaketh reproof erreth.

¹⁷Кто хранит наставление, тот на пути к жизни; а отвергающий обличение – блуждает.

¹⁸He that hideth hatred is of lying lips; And he that uttereth a slander is a fool.

¹⁸Кто скрывает ненависть, у того уста лживые; и кто разглашает клевету, тот глуп.

¹⁹In the multitude of words there wanteth not transgression; But he that refraineth his lips doeth wisely.

¹⁹При многословии не миновать греха, а сдерживающий уста свои –разумен.

²⁰The tongue of the righteous is [as] choice silver: The heart of the wicked is little worth.

²⁰Отборное серебро – язык праведного, сердце же нечестивых – ничтожество.

²¹The lips of the righteous feed many; But the foolish die for lack of understanding.

²¹Уста праведного пасут многих, а глупые умирают от недостатка разума.

²²The blessing of Jehovah, it maketh rich; And he addeth no sorrow therewith.

²²Благословение Господне – оно обогащает и печали с собою не приносит.

²³It is as sport to a fool to do wickedness; And [so is] wisdom to a man of understanding.

²³Для глупого преступное деяние как бы забава, а человеку разумному свойственна мудрость.

²⁴The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him; And the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

²⁴Чего страшится нечестивый, то и постигнет его, а желание праведников исполнится.

²⁵When the whirlwind passeth, the wicked is no more; But the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

²⁵Как проносится вихрь, так нет более нечестивого; а праведник – на вечном основании.

²⁶As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, So is the sluggard to them that send him.

²⁶Что уксус для зубов и дым для глаз, то ленивый для посылающих его.

²⁷The fear of Jehovah prolongeth days; But the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

²⁷Страх Господень прибавляет дней, лета же нечестивых сократятся.

²⁸The hope of the righteous [shall be] gladness; But the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

²⁸Ожидание праведников – радость, а надежда нечестивых погибнет.

²⁹The way of Jehovah is a stronghold to the upright; But it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.

²⁹Путь Господень – твердыня для непорочного и страх для делающих беззаконие.

³⁰The righteous shall never be removed; But the wicked shall not dwell in the land.

³⁰Праведник во веки не поколеблется, нечестивые же не поживут на земле.

³¹The mouth of the righteous bringeth forth wisdom; But the perverse tongue shall be cut off.

³¹Уста праведника источают мудрость, а язык зловредный отсечется.

³²The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable; But the mouth of the wicked [speaketh] perverseness.

³²Уста праведного знают благоприятное, а уста нечестивых – развращенное.
