1Hear, [my] sons, the instruction of a father, And attend to know understanding:

2For I give you good doctrine; Forsake ye not my law.
2потому что я преподал вам доброе учение. Не оставляйте заповеди моей.
3For I was a son unto my father, Tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
3Ибо и я был сын у отца моего, нежно любимый и единственный у матери моей,
4And he taught me, and said unto me: Let thy heart retain my words; Keep my commandments, and live;
4и он учил меня и говорил мне: да удержит сердце твое слова мои; храни заповеди мои, и живи.
5Get wisdom, get understanding; Forget not, neither decline from the words of my mouth;
5Приобретай мудрость, приобретай разум: не забывай этого и не уклоняйся от слов уст моих.
6Forsake her not, and she will preserve thee; Love her, and she will keep thee.
6Не оставляй ее, и она будет охранять тебя; люби ее, и она будет оберегать тебя.
7Wisdom [is] the principal thing; [therefore] get wisdom; Yea, with all thy getting get understanding.
7Главное – мудрость: приобретай мудрость, и всем имением твоим приобретай разум.
8Exalt her, and she will promote thee; She will bring thee to honor, when thou dost embrace her.
8Высоко цени ее, и она возвысит тебя; она прославит тебя, если ты прилепишься к ней;
9She will give to thy head a chaplet of grace; A crown of beauty will she deliver to thee.
9возложит на голову твою прекрасный венок, доставит тебе великолепный венец.
10Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; And the years of thy life shall be many.
10Слушай, сын мой, и прими слова мои, – и умножатся тебе лета жизни.
11I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in paths of uprightness.
11Я указываю тебе путь мудрости, веду тебя по стезям прямым.
12When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; And if thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
12Когда пойдешь, не будет стеснен ход твой, и когдапобежишь, не споткнешься.
13Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: Keep her; for she is thy life.
13Крепко держись наставления, не оставляй, храни его, потому что оно – жизнь твоя.
14Enter not into the path of the wicked, And walk not in the way of evil men.
14Не вступай на стезю нечестивых и не ходи по пути злых;
15Avoid it, pass not by it; Turn from it, and pass on.
15оставь его, не ходи по нему, уклонись от него и пройди мимо;
16For they sleep not, except they do evil; And their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
16потому что они не заснут, если не сделают зла; пропадает сон у них, если они не доведут кого до падения;
17For they eat the bread of wickedness, And drink the wine of violence.
17ибо они едят хлеб беззакония и пьют вино хищения.
18But the path of the righteous is as the dawning light, That shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
18Стезя праведных – как светило лучезарное, которое более и более светлеет до полного дня.
19The way of the wicked is as darkness: They know not at what they stumble.
19Путь же беззаконных – как тьма; они не знают, обо что споткнутся.
20My son, attend to my words; Incline thine ear unto my sayings.
20Сын мой! словам моим внимай, и к речам моим приклони ухо твое;
21Let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep them in the midst of thy heart.
21да не отходят они от глаз твоих; храни их внутри сердца твоего:
22For they are life unto those that find them, And health to all their flesh.
22потому что они жизнь для того, кто нашел их, и здравие для всего тела его.
23Keep thy heart with all diligence; For out of it are the issues of life.
23Больше всего хранимого храни сердце твое, потому что из него источники жизни.
24Put away from thee a wayward mouth, And perverse lips put far from thee.
24Отвергни от себя лживость уст, и лукавство языка удали от себя.
25Let thine eyes look right on, And let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
25Глаза твои пусть прямо смотрят, и ресницы твои да направлены будут прямо пред тобою.
26Make level the path of thy feet, And let all thy ways be established.
26Обдумай стезю для ноги твоей, и все пути твои да будут тверды.
27Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: Remove thy foot from evil.
27Не уклоняйся ни направо, ни налево; удали ногу твою от зла,
