¹My son, attend unto my wisdom; Incline thine ear to my understanding:

¹Сын мой! внимай мудрости моей, и приклони ухо твое к разуму моему,

²That thou mayest preserve discretion, And that thy lips may keep knowledge.

²чтобы соблюсти рассудительность, и чтобы уста твои сохранили знание.

³For the lips of a strange woman drop honey, And her mouth is smoother than oil:

³ибо мед источают уста чужой жены, и мягче елея речь ее;

⁴But in the end she is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a two-edged sword.

⁴но последствия от нее горьки, как полынь, остры, как меч обоюдоострый;

⁵Her feet go down to death; Her steps take hold on Sheol;

⁵ноги ее нисходят к смерти, стопы ее достигают преисподней.

⁶So that she findeth not the level path of life: Her ways are unstable, [and] she knoweth [it] not.

⁶Если бы ты захотел постигнуть стезю жизни ее, то пути ее непостоянны, и ты не узнаешь их.

⁷Now therefore, [my] sons, hearken unto me, And depart not from the words of my mouth.

⁷Итак, дети, слушайте меня и не отступайте от слов уст моих.

⁸Remove thy way far from her, And come not nigh the door of her house;

⁸Держи дальше от нее путь твой и не подходи близко к дверям дома ее,

⁹Lest thou give thine honor unto others, And thy years unto the cruel;

⁹чтобы здоровья твоего не отдать другим и лет твоих мучителю;

¹⁰Lest strangers be filled with thy strength, And thy labors [be] in the house of an alien,

¹⁰чтобы не насыщались силою твоею чужие, и труды твои не были для чужого дома.

¹¹And thou mourn at thy latter end, When thy flesh and thy body are consumed,

¹¹И ты будешь стонать после, когда плоть твоя и телотвое будут истощены, –

¹²And say, How have I hated instruction, And my heart despised reproof;

¹²и скажешь: „зачем я ненавидел наставление, и сердце мое пренебрегало обличением,

¹³Neither have I obeyed the voice of my teachers, Nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

¹³и я не слушал голоса учителей моих, не приклонял уха моего кнаставникам моим:

¹⁴I was well-nigh in all evil In the midst of the assembly and congregation.

¹⁴едва не впал я во всякое зло среди собрания и общества!"

¹⁵Drink waters out of thine own cistern, And running waters out of thine own well.

¹⁵Пей воду из твоего водоема и текущую из твоего колодезя.

¹⁶Should thy springs be dispersed abroad, And streams of water in the streets?

¹⁶Пусть не разливаются источники твои по улице, потоки вод – по площадям;

¹⁷Let them be for thyself alone, And not for strangers with thee.

¹⁷пусть они будут принадлежать тебе одному, а не чужим с тобою.

¹⁸Let thy fountain be blessed; And rejoice in the wife of thy youth.

¹⁸Источник твой да будет благословен; и утешайся женою юности твоей,

¹⁹[As] a loving hind and a pleasant doe, Let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; And be thou ravished always with her love.

¹⁹любезною ланью и прекрасною серною: груди ее да упоявают тебя во всякое время, любовью ее услаждайся постоянно.

²⁰For why shouldest thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, And embrace the bosom of a foreigner?

²⁰И для чего тебе, сын мой, увлекаться постороннею и обнимать грудичужой?

²¹For the ways of man are before the eyes of Jehovah; And he maketh level all his paths.

²¹Ибо пред очами Господа пути человека, и Он измеряет все стезиего.

²²His own iniquities shall take the wicked, And he shall be holden with the cords of his sin.

²²Беззаконного уловляют собственные беззакония его, и в узах греха своего он содержится:

²³He shall die for lack of instruction; And in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

²³он умирает без наставления, и от множества безумия своего теряется.
