¹My son, if thou art become surety for thy neighbor, If thou hast stricken thy hands for a stranger;

²Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, Thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.

²ты опутал себя словами уст твоих, пойман словами уст твоих.

³Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, Seeing thou art come into the hand of thy neighbor: Go, humble thyself, and importune thy neighbor;

³Сделай же, сын мой, вот что, и избавь себя, так как ты попался в руки ближнего твоего: пойди, пади к ногам и умоляй ближнего твоего;

⁴Give not sleep to thine eyes, Nor slumber to thine eyelids;

⁴не давай сна глазам твоим и дремания веждам твоим;

⁵Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand [of the hunter], And as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

⁵спасайся, как серна из руки и как птица из руки птицелова.

⁶Go to the ant, thou sluggard; Consider her ways, and be wise:

⁶Пойди к муравью, ленивец, посмотри на действия его, и будь мудрым.

⁷Which having no chief, Overseer, or ruler,

⁷Нет у него ни начальника, ни приставника, ни повелителя;

⁸Provideth her bread in the summer, And gathereth her food in the harvest.

⁸но он заготовляет летом хлеб свой, собирает во время жатвы пищусвою.

⁹How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

⁹Доколе ты, ленивец, будешь спать? когда ты встанешьот сна твоего?

¹⁰[Yet] a little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep:

¹⁰Немного поспишь, немного подремлешь, немного, сложив руки, полежишь:

¹¹So shall thy poverty come as a robber, And thy want as an armed man.

¹¹и придет, как прохожий, бедность твоя, и нужда твоя, как разбойник.

¹²A worthless person, a man of iniquity, Is he that walketh with a perverse mouth;

¹²Человек лукавый, человек нечестивый ходит со лживыми устами,

¹³That winketh with his eyes, that speaketh with his feet, That maketh signs with his fingers;

¹³мигает глазами своими, говорит ногами своими, дает знаки пальцами своими;

¹⁴In whose heart is perverseness, Who deviseth evil continually, Who soweth discord.

¹⁴коварство в сердце его: он умышляет зло во всякое время, сеетраздоры.

¹⁵Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; On a sudden shall he be broken, and that without remedy.

¹⁵Зато внезапно придет погибель его, вдруг будет разбит – без исцеления.

¹⁶There are six things which Jehovah hateth; Yea, seven which are an abomination unto him:

¹⁶Вот шесть, что ненавидит Господь, даже семь, что мерзость душе Его:

¹⁷Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood;

¹⁷глаза гордые, язык лживый и руки, проливающие кровь невинную,

¹⁸A heart that deviseth wicked purposes, Feet that are swift in running to mischief,

¹⁸сердце, кующее злые замыслы, ноги, быстро бегущие к злодейству,

¹⁹A false witness that uttereth lies, And he that soweth discord among brethren.

¹⁹лжесвидетель, наговаривающий ложь и сеющий раздор между братьями.

²⁰My son, keep the commandment of thy father, And forsake not the law of thy mother:

²⁰Сын мой! храни заповедь отца твоего и не отвергай наставления матери твоей;

²¹Bind them continually upon thy heart; Tie them about thy neck.

²¹навяжи их навсегда на сердце твое, обвяжи ими шею твою.

²²When thou walkest, it shall lead thee; When thou sleepest, it shall watch over thee; And when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

²²Когда ты пойдешь, они будут руководить тебя; когда ляжешь спать, будут охранять тебя; когда пробудишься, будут беседовать с тобою:

²³For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; And reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

²³ибо заповедь есть светильник, и наставление – свет, и назидательные поучения – путьк жизни,

²⁴To keep thee from the evil woman, From the flattery of the foreigner's tongue.

²⁴чтобы остерегать тебя от негодной женщины, от льстивого языка чужой.

²⁵Lust not after her beauty in thy heart; Neither let her take thee with her eyelids.

²⁵Не пожелай красоты ее в сердце твоем, и да не увлечет она тебя ресницами своими;

²⁶For on account of a harlot [a man is brought] to a piece of bread; And the adulteress hunteth for the precious life.

²⁶потому что из-за жены блудной обнищевают до куска хлеба, а замужняя жена уловляет дорогую душу.

²⁷Can a man take fire in his bosom, And his clothes not be burned?

²⁷Может ли кто взять себе огонь в пазуху, чтобы не прогорело платьеего?

²⁸Or can one walk upon hot coals, And his feet not be scorched?

²⁸Может ли кто ходить по горящим угольям, чтобы не обжечь ног своих?

²⁹So he that goeth in to his neighbor's wife; Whosoever toucheth her shall not be unpunished.

²⁹То же бывает и с тем, кто входит к жене ближнего своего: кто прикоснется к ней, не останется без вины.

³⁰Men do not despise a thief, if he steal To satisfy himself when he is hungry:

³⁰Не спускают вору, если он крадет, чтобы насытить душу свою, когдаон голоден;

³¹But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; He shall give all the substance of his house.

³¹но, будучи пойман, он заплатит всемеро, отдаст все имущество дома своего.

³²He that committeth adultery with a woman is void of understanding: He doeth it who would destroy his own soul.

³²Кто же прелюбодействует с женщиною, у того нет ума; тот губит душу свою, кто делает это:

³³Wounds and dishonor shall he get; And his reproach shall not be wiped away.

³³побои и позор найдет он, и бесчестие его не изгладится,

³⁴For jealousy is the rage of a man; And he will not spare in the day of vengeance.

³⁴потому что ревность – ярость мужа, и не пощадит он в день мщения,

³⁵He will not regard any ransom; Neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.

³⁵не примет никакого выкупа и не удовольствуется, сколько бы ты ни умножал даров.
