¹I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beseech you to walk worthily of the calling wherewith ye were called,

¹Prosím vás tedy ja väzeň v Pánovi, žeby ste chodili hodne povolania, ktorým ste povolaní,

²with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

²s celou pokorou a krotkosťou, so zhovievavosťou znášajúci sa navzájom v láske,

³giving diligence to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

³usilujúci sa zachovávať jednotu Ducha v sväzku pokoja.

⁴[There is] one body, and one Spirit, even as also ye were called in one hope of your calling;

⁴Jedno telo a jeden Duch, ako ste aj povolaní v jednej nádeji svojho povolania.

⁵one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

⁵Jeden Pán, jedna viera, jeden krst,

⁶one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in all.

⁶jeden Bôh a Otec všetkých, ktorý je nad všetkými, skrze všetkých a vo všetkých vás.

⁷But unto each one of us was the grace given according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

⁷Ale jednému každému z nás je daná milosť podľa miery daru Kristovho.

⁸Wherefore he saith, When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, And gave gifts unto men.

⁸Preto hovorí: Vystúpiac na výsosť zajal zajatie a dal ľuďom dary.

⁹(Now this, He ascended, what is it but that he also descended into the lower parts of the earth?

⁹Ale to, že vystúpil, čože je iné, ako že aj prv sostúpil do hlbších častí ako je zem?

¹⁰He that descended is the same also that ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.)

¹⁰Ten, ktorý to sostúpil, je ten istý, ktorý aj vystúpil nad všetky nebesia, aby naplnil všetko.

¹¹And he gave some [to be] apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

¹¹A on dal jedných za apoštolov, jedných za prorokov, jedných za evanjelistov, jedných za pastierov a za učiteľov

¹²for the perfecting of the saints, unto the work of ministering, unto the building up of the body of Christ:

¹²na zdokonaľovanie svätých ku dielu služby, na budovanie tela Kristovho,

¹³till we all attain unto the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a fullgrown man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

¹³až by sme všetci dospeli v jednotu viery a plného poznania Syna Božieho, v dokonalého muža, k miere dospelosti plnosti Kristovej,

¹⁴that we may be no longer children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error;

¹⁴aby sme už neboli viacej nedospelými, zmietaní vlnami a sem a ta nosení každým vetrom učenia, závratníctvom ľudí, schytralosťou mámiť do bludu,

¹⁵but speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, [even] Christ;

¹⁵ale aby sme hovoriac pravdu v láske rástli v neho v každej veci, v neho, ktorý je hlavou, Kristus,

¹⁶from whom all the body fitly framed and knit together through that which every joint supplieth, according to the working in [due] measure of each several part, maketh the increase of the body unto the building up of itself in love.

¹⁶z ktorého všetko telo, príslušne dovedna pojené a spolu viazané každým pojivom podávania výživy, podľa pôsobenia v miere jedného každého dielu vzrast tela si pôsobí na svoje budovanie sa v láske.

¹⁷This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye no longer walk as the Gentiles also walk, in the vanity of their mind,

¹⁷To teda hovorím a osvedčujem v Pánovi, aby ste vy už viac nechodili, jako aj ostatní pohania chodia, v márnosti svojej mysle,

¹⁸being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their heart;

¹⁸zatemnení v rozume súc odcudzení životu Božiemu pre nevedomosť, ktorá je v nich, pre zatvrdenie ich srdca,

¹⁹who being past feeling gave themselves up to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

¹⁹ktorí, keď otupeli do bezcitnosti, oddali sa nestudatosti páchať každú nečistotu nenasytnou žiadosťou.

²⁰But ye did not so learn Christ;

²⁰Ale vy ste sa tak nenaučili Krista,

²¹if so be that ye heard him, and were taught in him, even as truth is in Jesus:

²¹akže ste ho počuli a ste v ňom vyučení, jako je pravda v Ježišovi:

²²that ye put away, as concerning your former manner of life, the old man, that waxeth corrupt after the lusts of deceit;

²²aby ste složili podľa drievneho spôsobu žitia vo vás vládnuvšieho starého človeka, rušiaceho sa v klamných žiadostiach,

²³and that ye be renewed in the spirit of your mind,

²³a obnovili sa v duchu svojej mysle

²⁴and put on the new man, that after God hath been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.

²⁴a obliekli si nového človeka, stvoreného podľa Boha v spravedlivosti a svätosti pravdy.

²⁵Wherefore, putting away falsehood, speak ye truth each one with his neighbor: for we are members one of another.

²⁵Preto složiac lož hovorte jeden každý pravdu so svojím blížnym, lebo sme si navzájom údami.

²⁶Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

²⁶Hnevajte sa a nehrešte; slnko nech nezapáda nad vaším rozhnevaním sa,

²⁷neither give place to the devil.

²⁷ani nedávajte miesta diablovi.

²⁸Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing that is good, that he may have whereof to give to him that hath need.

²⁸Kto kradne, nech už viac nekradne, ale radšej nech pracuje robiac dobré vlastnými rukami, aby mal čo udieľať núdznemu.

²⁹Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for edifying as the need may be, that it may give grace to them that hear.

²⁹Nech nevychádza nijaké mrzké slovo z vašich úst, ale ak je nejaké dobré na vzdelanie, práve potrebné, aby dalo milosť tým, ktorí počúvajú.

³⁰And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, in whom ye were sealed unto the day of redemption.

³⁰A nezarmucujte Svätého Ducha Božieho, ktorým ste zapečatení ku dňu vykúpenia.

³¹Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and railing, be put away from you, with all malice:

³¹Každá horkosť a prchkosť a hnev a krik a rúhanie nech je odňaté od vás so všetkým, čo je nešľachetné a zlé.

³²and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, even as God also in Christ forgave you.

³²Ale si buďte navzájom naproti sebe dobrotiví, ľútostiví, odpúšťajúci si, jako aj Bôh v Kristu odpustil vám.
