1Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
1Vy, deti, poslúchajte svojich rodičov v Pánovi, lebo to je spravedlivé.
2Honor thy father and mother (which is the first commandment with promise),
2Cti svojho otca a svoju mať - to je prvé prikázanie so zasľúbením -,
3that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
3aby ti bolo dobre, a aby si dlho žil na zemi.
4And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but nurture them in the chastening and admonition of the Lord.
4A vy, otcovia, nepopudzujte svojich detí k hnevu, ale ich vychovávajte v kázni a v napomínaní Pánovom.
5Servants, be obedient unto them that according to the flesh are your masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
5Vy, sluhovia, poslúchajte svojich telesných pánov s bázňou a s trasením v prostote svojho srdca jako Krista
6not in the way of eyeservice, as men-pleasers; but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
6neslúžiac verne iba na oko jako takí, ktorí sa chcú ľúbiť ľuďom, ale jako sluhovia Kristovi činiac vôľu Božiu z duše,
7with good will doing service, as unto the Lord, and not unto men:
7s dobrou mysľou, slúžiac ako Pánovi a nie ľuďom,
8knowing that whatsoever good thing each one doeth, the same shall he receive again from the Lord, whether [he be] bond or free.
8vediac, že čokoľvek by jeden každý učinil dobré, to si odnesie od Pána, buď sluha buď slobodný.
9And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, and forbear threatening: knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no respect of persons with him.
9A vy, pánovia, čiňte to isté naproti nim zanechajúc hrozbu v povedomí, že aj vy sami máte toho istého Pána v nebesiach, o on nehľadí na osobu.
10Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might.
10Ostatne, moji bratia, mocnejte v Pánovi a v sile jeho vlády.
11Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
11Oblečte si celú zbraň Božiu, aby ste mohli obstáť proti taktike a úskočnosti diablovej.
12For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual [hosts] of wickedness in the heavenly [places].
12Lebo nie je nám zápasiť s krvou a s telom, ale s kniežatstvami, mocnosťami, so svetovládcami temnosti tohoto veku, s duchovnými mocami zlosti v ponebeských oblastiach.
13Wherefore take up the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand.
13Preto vezmite na seba celú zbraň Božiu, aby ste mohli odolať v ten zlý deň a vykonajúc všetko stáť.
14Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
14Tedy stojte majúc svoje bedrá opásané pravdou a súc oblečení v pancier spravedlivosti
15and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
15a majúc nohy obuté v hotovosti evanjelia pokoja.
16withal taking up the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil [one].
16A pritom pri všetkom vezmite štít viery, ktorým budete môcť uhasiť všetky ohnivé šípy toho zlého.
17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
17A vezmite aj prilbu spasenia i meč Ducha, ktorým je slovo Božie,
18with all prayer and supplication praying at all seasons in the Spirit, and watching thereunto in all perseverance and supplication for all the saints,
18modliac sa každou modlitbou a prosbou každého času v Duchu a tým cieľom bdejúc s celou vytrvanlivosťou a prosbou za všetkých svätých,
19And on my behalf, that utterance may be given unto me in opening my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel,
19i za mňa, žeby mi bolo dané slovo, keď otvorím svoje ústa, aby som prosto a smele oznámil tajomstvo evanjelia,
20for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
20za ktoré posolstvujem v reťazi, žeby som ho zvestoval prosto a smele, jako mi náleží vravieť.
21But that ye also may know my affairs, how I do, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things:
21Ale aby ste aj vy vedeli, čo sa so mnou deje, a čo robím, to všetko vám oznámi Tychikus, milovaný brat a verný služobník v Pánovi,
22whom I have sent unto you for this very purpose, that ye may know our state, and that he may comfort your hearts.
22ktorého som k vám poslal práve preto, aby ste zvedeli, čo robíme a jako sa máme, a aby potešil vaše srdcia.
23Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
23Pokoj bratom a láska s vierou od Boha Otca a od Pána Ježiša Krista.
24Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ with [a love] incorruptible.
24Milosť so všetkými, ktorí milujú nášho Pána Ježiša Krista v neporušiteľnosti. Ameň.
