¹If there is therefore any exhortation in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any tender mercies and compassions,

¹Ak je tedy nejaké potešenie v Kristovi, ak nejaké povzbudenie lásky, ak nejaké účastenstvo Ducha, ak nejaká srdečná sústrasť a zľutovanie, to robte

²make full my joy, that ye be of the same mind, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind;

²a tak naplňte moju radosť, aby ste jedno a to isté mysleli, jednu a tú istú lásku mali a boli sťa jedna duša, aby ste jedno mysleli

³[doing] nothing through faction or through vainglory, but in lowliness of mind each counting other better than himself;

³nerobiac ničoho zo sváru ani z márnej chvály, ale v pokore majte jedni druhých za vyšších od seba

⁴not looking each of you to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others.

⁴nehľadiac každý len na svoje, ale každý aj na to, čo je iných.

⁵Have this mind in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

⁵Lebo nech je také smýšľanie vo vás, aké bolo aj v Kristu Ježišovi,

⁶who, existing in the form of God, counted not the being on an equality with God a thing to be grasped,

⁶ktorý súc v podobe Boha nepovažoval toho za lúpež byť rovný Bohu,

⁷but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men;

⁷ale sám seba zmaril prijmúc podobu sluhu a stal sa podobný ľuďom

⁸and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, becoming obedient [even] unto death, yea, the death of the cross.

⁸a súc v spôsobe najdený jako človek ponížil sa stanúc sa poslušným až po smrť, a to po smrť kríža.

⁹Wherefore also God highly exalted him, and gave unto him the name which is above every name;

⁹Preto aj Bôh jeho povýšil nad všetko a dal mu z ľúbosti meno, ktoré je nad každé meno,

¹⁰that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven and [things] on earth and [things] under the earth,

¹⁰aby sa v mene Ježiša sklonilo každé koleno bytostí ponebeských a pozemských i podzemských,

¹¹and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

¹¹a každý jazyk aby vyznal, že Ježiš Kristus je Pánom, na slávu Boha Otca.

¹²So then, my beloved, even as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;

¹²A tak, moji milovaní, jako ste vždycky poslúchli, nie len ako v mojej prítomnosti, ale tým väčšmi teraz v mojej neprítomnosti, s bázňou a s trasením pracujte na svojom spasení;

¹³for it is God who worketh in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure.

¹³lebo je to Bôh, ktorý vo vás pôsobí i chcenie i činenie pre záľubu.

¹⁴Do all things without murmurings and questionings:

¹⁴Všetko čiňte bez reptania a bez pohybovania,

¹⁵that ye may become blameless and harmless, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom ye are seen as lights in the world,

¹⁵aby ste boli bezúhonní a rýdzi, deti Božie bezvadné prostred pokolenia krivého a prevráteného, medzi ktorými svieťte jako svetlá na svete

¹⁶holding forth the word of life; that I may have whereof to glory in the day of Christ, that I did not run in vain neither labor in vain.

¹⁶majúc u seba slovo života mne na chválu v deň Kristov, že som nebežal nadarmo ani nadarmo nepracoval.

¹⁷Yea, and if I am offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all:

¹⁷Ale jestli aj budem vyliaty sťa liata obeť pri bitnej obeti a svätoslužbe vašej viery, radujem sa a spolu sa radujem so všetkými vami,

¹⁸and in the same manner do ye also joy, and rejoice with me.

¹⁸a takiste sa aj vy radujte a spolu sa radujte so mnou.

¹⁹But I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.

¹⁹Ale nadejem sa v Pánu Ježišovi, že vám skoro pošlem Timotea, aby som i ja okrial zvediac, ako sa máte a čo robíte.

²⁰For I have no man likeminded, who will care truly for your state.

²⁰Lebo nemám nikoho rovnosmýšľajúceho, ktorý by sa verne a úprimne staral o vaše.

²¹For they all seek their own, not the things of Jesus Christ.

²¹Lebo tí všetci hľadajú svoje a nie Krista Ježišovo.

²²But ye know the proof of him, that, as a child [serveth] a father, [so] he served with me in furtherance of the gospel.

²²Ale jeho dokázanosť znáte, a že jako dieťa otcovi, tak slúžil so mnou vo veci evanjelia.

²³Him therefore I hope to send forthwith, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me:

²³Nadejem sa teda, že toho pošlem hneď, ako uvidím, čo bude so mnou.

²⁴but I trust in the Lord that I myself also shall come shortly.

²⁴Ale dúfam v Pána, že aj sám skoro prijdem.

²⁵But I counted it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fellow-worker and fellow-soldier, and your messenger and minister to my need;

²⁵Ale som uznal za potrebné poslať k vám brata Epafrodita, svojho spolupracovníka a spolubojovníka a vášho posla a svätoslužobníka čo do mojej potreby,

²⁶since he longed after you all, and was sore troubled, because ye had heard that he was sick:

²⁶keď túžil po vás po všetkých a nemal pokoja, pretože ste počuli, že onemocnel.

²⁷for indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, that I might not have sorrow upon sorrow.

²⁷Lebo aj skutočne bol tak onemocnel, že už bol blízky smrti. Ale Bôh sa zmiloval nad ním, avšak nie len nad ním samým, ale aj nado mnou, aby som nemal zármutku na zármutok.

²⁸I have sent him therefore the more diligently, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.

²⁸A tak som ho tým snažnejšie poslal, aby ste sa, keď ho uvidíte, zase radovali, a ja aby som mal menej zármutku.

²⁹Receive him therefore in the Lord with all joy; and hold such in honor:

²⁹Prijmite ho tedy v Pánovi s celou radosťou a majte takých v úcte.

³⁰because for the work of Christ he came nigh unto death, hazarding his life to supply that which was lacking in your service toward me.

³⁰Lebo pre dielo Kristovo sa bol priblížil až k smrti nasadiac svoj život, aby doplnil váš nedostatok čo do svätoslužby, ktorú ste mne konali.
