¹Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to a command of God our Saviour, and of the Lord Jesus Christ our hope,

²to Timotheus — genuine child in faith: Grace, kindness, peace, from God our Father, and Christ Jesus our Lord,

³Ingon sa pagpangamuyo ko kanimo, nga magpabilin ka sa Efeso, sa moadto ako ngadto sa Macedonia, aron magsugo ka ug mga tawo, sa dili pagpanudlo sa lain nga pagtolon-an,

³according as I did exhort thee to remain in Ephesus — I going on to Macedonia — that thou mightest charge certain not to teach any other thing,

⁴Dili bisan sa pagpatalinghug sa mga sugilanon ug mga tandaan nga walay katapusan sa kaliwatan nga nagapatubo sa mga paglalis labi kay sa pagkatinugyanan sa Dios, nga mao ang sa pagtoo; busa mao karon ang ginabuhat ko.

⁴nor to give heed to fables and endless genealogies, that cause questions rather than the building up of God that is in faith: —

⁵Apan, ang tuyo sa tulomanon mao ang paghigugma nga nagagikan sa usa ka kasingkasing nga putli, ug sa usa ka maayo nga kaisipan, ug sa pagtoo nga walay pagkasalingkapaw;

⁵And the end of the charge is love out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned,

⁶Nga maoy gikasalaagan sa uban ug namalik ngadto sa mga walay pulos nga sulti;

⁶from which certain, having swerved, did turn aside to vain discourse,

⁷Nga naninguha sila aron mahimong mga magtutudlo sa Kasugoan, bisan sila wala makasabut sa ilang ginapamulong kun sa gipamatud-an gayud nila.

⁷willing to be teachers of law, not understanding either the things they say, nor concerning what they asseverate,

⁸Apan atong hingbaloan nga ang Kasugoan maayo man, kong ang tawo nagagamit niana pinaagi sa pagkakasugoan;

⁸and we have known that the law [is] good, if any one may use it lawfully;

⁹Ingon sa hingbaloan kini nga ang Kasugoan wala pagbuhata alang sa matarung, kondili sa masupilon ug sa dili-madumala, sa dili-diosnon, ug sa mga makasasala, sa mga dili-balaan ug sa mga dili-espirituhanon, sa mga mamumuno sa mga amahan ug mamumuno sa mga inahan, sa mga mamumuno sa tawo;

⁹having known this, that for a righteous man law is not set, but for lawless and insubordinate persons, ungodly and sinners, impious and profane, parricides and matricides, men-slayers,

¹⁰Sa mga makihilawason, sa mga mapatuyangon sa ilang kaugalingon uban sa mga lalake, sa mga mamimihag ug tawo, sa mga bakakon, ug sa mga nagapanumpa sa bakak ug sa uban pang butang nga nagabatok sa maayo nga pagtolon-an;

¹⁰whoremongers, sodomites, men-stealers, liars, perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that to sound doctrine is adverse,

¹¹Sumala sa Maayong Balita sa himaya sa Dios nga bulahan, nga gitugyan kanako.

¹¹according to the good news of the glory of the blessed God, with which I was entrusted.

¹²Ako nagapasalamat sa nagpalig-on kanako nga si Cristo Jesus, nga atong Ginoo, kay giisip niya ako nga matinumanon nga nagatudlo kanako sa iyang ministerio.

¹²And I give thanks to him who enabled me — Christ Jesus our Lord — that he did reckon me stedfast, having put [me] to the ministration,

¹³Bisan ako kaniadto usa ka mapasipalahon, ug maglulutos, ug magdadaut; apan bisan pa niini gikaloy-an ako, kay gibuhat ko kini sa pagkawalay pagsabut diha sa pagkawalay-pagtoo;

¹³who before was speaking evil, and persecuting, and insulting, but I found kindness, because, being ignorant, I did [it] in unbelief,

¹⁴Ug ang gracia sa atong Ginoo midagaya sa hilabihan uban sa pagtoo ug sa gugma, nga anaa kang Cristo Jesus.

¹⁴and exceedingly abound did the grace of our Lord, with faith and love that [is] in Christ Jesus:

¹⁵Pulong nga matinumanon, ug takus gayud nga pagadawaton sa bug-os: Nga si Cristo Jesus mianhi sa kalibutan sa pagluwas sa mga makasasala, nga kanila ako ang labaw:

¹⁵stedfast [is] the word, and of all acceptation worthy, that Christ Jesus came to the world to save sinners — first of whom I am;

¹⁶Bisan pa tungod niini nga hinungdan, gikaloy-an ako, aron dinhi kanako, ingon nga labaw, si Jesucristo makapadayag sa iyang bug-os nga pagkamapailubon, alang sa usa ka panig-ingnan kanila nga managtoo unya kaniya ngadto sa kinabuhi nga walay katapusan.

¹⁶but because of this I found kindness, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all long-suffering, for a pattern of those about to believe on him to life age-during:

¹⁷Karon alang sa Hari sa mga katuigan, nga dili-mamatay, dili-makita, bugtong nga Dios, kaniya ang kadung-ganan ug himaya sa mga katuigan nga walay katapusan. Amen.

¹⁷and to the King of the ages, the incorruptible, invisible, only wise God, [is] honour and glory — to the ages of the ages! Amen.

¹⁸Kini nga sugo, anak ko nga Timoteo, ginatugyan ko kanimo, sumala sa mga tagna nga nagtultol sa dalan kanimo, aron tungod kanila magapakig-away ka sa maayong pag-away;

¹⁸This charge I commit to thee, child Timotheus, according to the prophesies that went before upon thee, that thou mayest war in them the good warfare,

¹⁹Nga nagabantay sa pagtoo ug sa maayo nga kaisipan, nga gisalikway sa uban, ug nangalunod sila mahatungod sa pagtoo;

¹⁹having faith and a good conscience, which certain having thrust away, concerning the faith did make shipwreck,

²⁰Nga kanila mao si Himeneo ug si Alejandro, nga gitugyan ko kang satanas, aron matudloan sila sa dili pagpasipala.

²⁰of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I did deliver to the Adversary, that they might be instructed not to speak evil.
