1Ne propovijeda li mudrost i ne diže li razboritost svoj glas?
1Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding give forth her voice?
2Navrh brda, uza cestu, na raskršćima stoji,
2On the top of high places by the way, at the cross-paths she taketh her stand.
3kod izlaza iz grada, kraj ulaznih vrata, ona glasno viče:
3Beside the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors, she crieth aloud.
4"Vama, o ljudi, propovijedam i upravljam svoj glas sinovima ljudskim.
4Unto you, men, I call, and my voice is to the sons of man:
5Shvatite mudrost, vi neiskusni, a vi nerazumni, urazumite srce.
5O ye simple, understand prudence; and ye foolish, understand sense.
6Slušajte, jer ću zboriti o važnim stvarima, i moje će usne otkriti što je pravo.
6Hear, for I will speak excellent things, and the opening of my lips shall be right things.
7Jer moje nepce zbori istinu i zloća je mojim usnama mrska.
7For my palate shall meditate truth, and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
8Sve su riječi mojih usta pravične, u njima nema ništa ni krivo ni prijetvorno.
8All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing tortuous or perverse in them.
9Sve su one jasne razboritomu i pravedne onomu tko je stekao spoznaju.
9They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.
10Primajte radije moju pouku no srebro i znanje požudnije od zlata.
10Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold:
11Jer mudrost je vrednija od biserja i nikakve se dragocjenosti ne mogu porediti s njom.
11for wisdom is better than rubies, and all the things that may be desired are not equal to it.
12Ja, mudrost, boravim s razboritošću i posjedujem znanje umna djelovanja.
12I wisdom dwell [with] prudence, and find the knowledge [which cometh] of reflection.
13Strah Gospodnji mržnja je na zlo. Oholost, samodostatnost, put zloće i usta puna laži - to ja mrzim.
13The fear of Jehovah is to hate evil; pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth do I hate.
14Moji su savjet i razboritost, ja sam razbor i moja je jakost.
14Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am intelligence; I have strength.
15Po meni kraljevi kraljuju i velikaši dijele pravdu.
15By me kings reign, and rulers make just decrees;
16Po meni knezuju knezovi i odličnici i svi suci zemaljski.
16by me princes rule, and nobles, all the judges of the earth.
17Ja ljubim one koji ljube mene i nalaze me koji me traže.
17I love those that love me; and they that seek me early shall find me.
18U mene je bogatstvo i slava, postojano dobro i pravednost.
18Riches and honour are with me; durable wealth and righteousness.
19Moj je plod bolji od čista i žežena zlata i moj je prihod bolji od čistoga srebra.
19My fruit is better than fine gold, yea, than pure gold; and my revenue than choice silver.
20Ja kročim putem pravde, sred pravičnih staza,
20I walk in the path of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:
21da dadem dobra onima koji me ljube i napunim njihove riznice.
21that I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasuries.
22Jahve me stvori kao počelo svoga djela, kao najraniji od svojih čina, u pradoba;
22Jehovah possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.
23oblikovana sam još od vječnosti, odiskona, prije nastanka zemlje.
23I was set up from eternity, from the beginning, before the earth was.
24Rodih se kad još nije bilo pradubina, dok nije bilo izvora obilnih voda.
24When there were no depths, I was brought forth, when there were no fountains abounding with water.
25Rodih se prije nego su utemeljene gore, prije brežuljaka.
25Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth;
26Kad još ne bijaše načinio zemlje, ni poljana, ni početka zemaljskom prahu;
26while as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the beginning of the dust of the world.
27kad je stvarao nebesa, bila sam nazočna, kad je povlačio krug na licu bezdana.
27When he prepared the heavens I was there; when he ordained the circle upon the face of the deep;
28Kad je u visini utvrđivao oblake i kad je odredio snagu izvoru pradubina;
28when he established the skies above, when the fountains of the deep became strong;
29kad je postavljao moru njegove granice da mu se vode ne preliju preko obala, kad je polagao temelje zemlji,
29when he imposed on the sea his decree that the waters should not pass his commandment, when he appointed the foundations of the earth:
30bila sam kraj njega, kao graditeljica, bila u radosti, iz dana u dan, igrajući pred njim sve vrijeme:
30then I was by him [his] nursling, and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;
31igrala sam po tlu njegove zemlje, i moja su radost djeca čovjekova.
31rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth, and my delights [were] with the sons of men.
32Tako, djeco, poslušajte me, blago onima koji čuvaju moje putove.
32And now, sons, hearken unto me, and blessed are they that keep my ways:
33Poslušajte pouku - da stečete mudrost i nemojte je odbaciti.
33hear instruction and be wise, and refuse it not.
34Blago čovjeku koji me sluša i bdi na mojim vratima svaki dan i koji čuva dovratnike moje.
34Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.
35Jer tko nalazi mene, nalazi život i stječe milost od Jahve.
35For whoso findeth me findeth life, and obtaineth favour of Jehovah;
36A ako se ogriješi o mene, udi svojoj duši: svi koji mene mrze ljube smrt."
36but he that sinneth against me doeth violence to his own soul: all they that hate me love death.
