1 Yna atebodd Soffar y Naamathiad:
1And Zophar the Naamathite answered and said,
2 "Yn awr, fe'm cynhyrfir i ateb; am hynny atebaf ar frys.
2Therefore do my thoughts give me an answer, and for this is my haste within me.
3 Clywais gerydd sy'n fy nifro; y mae cynnwrf fy meddwl yn fy ngorfodi i ateb.
3I hear a reproof putting me to shame; and [my] spirit answereth me by mine understanding.
4 Onid wyt yn gwybod hyn? o'r dechrau, er pan osodwyd pobl ar y ddaear,
4Knowest thou [not] this, that of old, since man was placed upon earth,
5 byr yw gorfoledd y drygionus, ac am gyfnod yn unig y pery llawenydd yr annuwiol.
5The exultation of the wicked is short, and the joy of the ungodly man but for a moment?
6 Er i'w falchder esgyn i'r uchelder, ac i'w ben gyffwrdd 'r cymylau,
6Though his height mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds,
7 eto derfydd am byth fel ei dom ei hun, a dywed y rhai a'i gwelodd, 'Ple mae ef?'
7Like his own dung doth he perish for ever; they which have seen him shall say, Where is he?
8 Eheda ymaith fel breuddwyd, ac ni fydd yn bod; fe'i hymlidir fel gweledigaeth nos.
8He flieth away as a dream, and is not found; and is chased away as a vision of the night.
9 Y llygad a'i gwelodd, ni wl mohono mwy, ac nid edrych arno yn ei le.
9The eye which saw him shall [see him] not again; and his place beholdeth him no more.
10 Cais ei blant ffafr y tlawd, a dychwel ei ddwylo ei gyfoeth.
10His children shall seek the favour of the poor, and his hands restore his wealth.
11 Y mae ei esgyrn sy'n llawn egni yn gorwedd gydag ef yn y llwch.
11His bones were full of his youthful strength; but it shall lie down with him in the dust.
12 "Er i ddrygioni droi'n felys yn ei enau, a'i fod yntau am ei gadw dan ei dafod,
12Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth [and] he hide it under his tongue,
13 ac yn anfodlon ei ollwng, ond yn ei ddal dan daflod ei enau,
13[Though] he spare it, and forsake it not, but keep it within his mouth,
14 eto y mae ei fwyd yn ei gylla yn troi'n wenwyn asb iddo.
14His food is turned in his bowels; it is the gall of asps within him.
15 Llynca gyfoeth, ac yna'i chwydu; bydd Duw'n ei dynnu allan o'i fol.
15He hath swallowed down riches, but he shall vomit them up again: ùGod shall cast them out of his belly.
16 Sugna wenwyn yr asb, ac yna fe'i lleddir gan golyn gwiber.
16He shall suck the poison of asps; the viper's tongue shall kill him.
17 Ni chaiff weld ffrydiau o olew, nac afonydd o fl a llaeth.
17He shall not see streams, rivers, brooks of honey and butter.
18 Dychwel ffrwyth ei lafur heb iddo elwa arno; er cymaint ei enillion, ni chaiff eu mwynhau.
18That which he laboured for shall he restore, and not swallow down; its restitution shall be according to the value, and he shall not rejoice [therein].
19 Oherwydd gorthrymodd y tlawd a'i adael yn ddiymgeledd; cipiodd du375? nas adeiladodd.
19For he hath oppressed, hath forsaken the poor; he hath violently taken away a house that he did not build.
20 Ni u373?yr sut i dawelu ei chwant, ac ni ddianc dim rhag ei wanc.
20Because he knew no rest in his craving, he shall save nought of what he most desired.
21 Nid oes gweddill iddo'i fwyta, ac felly nid oes parhad i'w ffyniant.
21Nothing escaped his greediness; therefore his prosperity shall not endure.
22 Wedi digoni ei chwant, 'n gyfyng arno; daw holl rym gofid arno.
22In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits; every hand of the wretched shall come upon him.
23 Pan fydd ar fedr llenwi ei fol, gyrrir arno angerdd llid, a'i dywallt i lawr i'w berfedd.
23It shall be that, to fill his belly, he will cast his fierce anger upon him, and will rain it upon him into his flesh.
24 "Fe ffy rhag arfau haearn, ond fe'i trywenir gan y saeth bres.
24If he have fled from the iron weapon, the bow of brass shall strike him through.
25 Tynnir hi allan o'i gorff, y blaen gloyw allan o'i fustl; daw dychrynfeydd arno.
25He draweth it forth; it cometh out of his body, and the glittering point out of his gall: terrors are upon him.
26 Tywyllwch llwyr a gadwyd ar gyfer ei drysorau; ysir ef gan dn nad oes raid ei chwythu; difethir yr hyn a adawyd yn ei babell.
26All darkness is laid up for his treasures: a fire not blown shall devour him; it shall feed upon what is left in his tent.
27 Dadlenna'r nefoedd ei gamwedd, a chyfyd y ddaear yn ei erbyn.
27The heavens shall reveal his iniquity, and the earth shall rise up against him.
28 Bydd i'r dilyw ddwyn ymaith ei du375?, a llifogydd, yn nydd ei lid.
28The increase of his house shall depart, flowing away in the day of his anger.
29 Dyma dynged yr annuwiol oddi wrth Dduw, a'r etifeddiaeth a osododd iddo."
29This is the portion of the wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed to him by ùGod.
