¹ Aeth Job ymlaen �'i ddadl, gan ddweud:

¹And Job continued his parable and said,

² "O na byddwn fel yn yr amser gynt, yn y dyddiau pan oedd Duw yn fy ngwarchod,

²Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when +God preserved me;

³ pan wn�i i'w lamp oleuo uwch fy mhen, a minnau'n rhodio wrth ei goleuni trwy'r tywyllwch;

³When his lamp shone over my head, [and] by his light I walked through darkness;

⁴ pan oeddwn yn nyddiau f'anterth, a Duw'n cysgodi dros fy nhrigfan;

⁴As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret counsel of +God was over my tent,

⁵ pan oedd yr Hollalluog yn parhau gyda mi, a'm plant o'm cwmpas.

⁵When the Almighty was yet with me, my young men round about me;

⁶ Gallwn olchi fy nghamau mewn llaeth, ac yr oedd y graig yn tywallt ffrydiau o olew imi.

⁶When my steps were bathed in milk, and the rock poured out beside me rivers of oil! ...

⁷ "Awn allan i borth y ddinas, ac eisteddwn yn fy sedd ar y sgw�r;

⁷When I went out to the gate by the city, when I prepared my seat on the broadway,

⁸ a phan welai'r llanciau fi, cilient, a chodai'r hynafgwyr ar eu traed;

⁸The young men saw me, and hid themselves; and the aged arose [and] stood up;

⁹ peidiai'r arweinwyr � llefaru, a rhoddent eu llaw ar eu genau;

⁹Princes refrained from talking, and laid the hand on their mouth;

¹⁰ tawai siarad y pendefigion, a glynai eu tafod wrth daflod eu genau.

¹⁰The voice of the nobles was hushed, and their tongue cleaved to their palate.

¹¹ "Pan glywai clust, galwai fi'n ddedwydd, a phan welai llygad, canmolai fi;

¹¹When the ear heard [me], then it blessed me, and when the eye saw [me], it gave witness to me;

¹² oherwydd gwaredwn y tlawd a lefai, a'r amddifad a'r diymgeledd.

¹²For I delivered the afflicted that cried, and the fatherless who had no helper.

¹³ Bendith yr un ar ddarfod amdano a dd�i arnaf, a gwnawn i galon y weddw lawenhau.

¹³The blessing of him that was perishing came upon me, and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.

¹⁴ Gwisgwn gyfiawnder fel dillad amdanaf; yr oedd fy marn fel mantell a thwrban.

¹⁴I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; my justice was as a mantle and a turban.

¹⁵ Yr oeddwn yn llygaid i'r dall, ac yn draed i'r cloff.

¹⁵I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame;

¹⁶ Yr oeddwn yn dad i'r tlawd, a chwiliwn i achos y sawl nad adwaenwn.

¹⁶I was a father to the needy, and the cause which I knew not I searched out;

¹⁷ Drylliwn gilddannedd yr anghyfiawn, a pheri iddo ollwng yr ysglyfaeth o'i enau.

¹⁷And I broke the jaws of the unrighteous, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.

¹⁸ Yna dywedais, 'Byddaf farw yn f'anterth, a'm dyddiau mor niferus �'r tywod,

¹⁸And I said, I shall die in my nest, and multiply my days as the sand;

¹⁹ a'm gwreiddiau yn ymestyn at y dyfroedd, a'r gwlith yn aros drwy'r nos ar fy mrigau,

¹⁹My root shall be spread out to the waters, and the dew will lie all night on my branch;

²⁰ a'm hanrhydedd o hyd yn iraidd, a'm bwa yn adnewyddu yn fy llaw.'

²⁰My glory shall be fresh in me, and my bow be renewed in my hand.

²¹ "Gwrandawai pobl arnaf, a disgwylient yn ddistaw am fy nghyngor.

²¹Unto me they listened, and waited, and kept silence for my counsel:

²² Wedi imi lefaru, ni ddywedent air; diferai fy ngeiriau arnynt.

²²After my words they spoke not again, and my speech dropped upon them;

²³ Disgwylient wrthyf fel am y glaw, ac agorent eu genau fel am law y gwanwyn.

²³And they waited for me as for the rain, and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.

²⁴ Pan wenwn arnynt, oni chaent hyder? A phan lewyrchai fy wyneb, ni fyddent brudd.

²⁴[If] I laughed on them, they believed [it] not; and they troubled not the serenity of my countenance.

²⁵ Dewiswn eu ffordd iddynt, ac eistedd yn ben arnynt; eisteddwn fel brenin yng nghanol ei lu, fel un yn cysuro'r galarus.

²⁵I chose their way, and sat as chief, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one that comforteth mourners.
