1 Gwell yw'r tlawd sy'n byw'n onest na'r un twyllodrus ei eiriau, ac yntau'n ynfyd.
1Better is a poor [man] that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
2 Nid oes gwerth mewn brwdfrydedd heb ddeall; y mae'r chwim ei droed yn colli'r ffordd.
2Also that a person be without knowledge is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet maketh false steps.
3 Ffolineb rhywun sy'n difetha'i ffordd, ond yn erbyn yr ARGLWYDD y mae'n dal dig.
3The folly of man distorteth his way, and his heart is irritated against Jehovah.
4 Y mae cyfoeth yn amlhau cyfeillion, ond colli ei gyfaill y mae'r tlawd.
4Wealth addeth many friends; but the poor is separated from his friend.
5 Ni chaiff tyst celwyddog osgoi cosb, ac ni ddianc yr un sy'n dweud celwydd.
5A false witness shall not be held innocent, and he that uttereth lies shall not escape.
6 Y mae llawer yn ceisio ffafr pendefig, a phawb yn gyfaill i'r sawl sy'n rhoi.
6Many court the favour of a noble; and every one is friend to a man that giveth.
7 Y mae holl frodyr y tlawd yn ei gas�u; gymaint mwy y pellha'i gyfeillion oddi wrtho! Y mae'n eu dilyn � geiriau, ond nid ydynt yno.
7All the brethren of a poor [man] hate him; how much more do his friends go far from him: he pursueth [them] with words, -- they are not [to be found].
8 Y mae'r synhwyrol yn caru ei fywyd, a'r un sy'n diogelu gwybodaeth yn cael daioni.
8He that getteth sense loveth his own soul; he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
9 Ni chaiff tyst celwyddog osgoi cosb, a difethir yr un sy'n dweud celwydd.
9A false witness shall not be held innocent, and he that uttereth lies shall perish.
10 Nid yw moethusrwydd yn gweddu i'r ynfyd, na rheoli tywysogion i gaethwas.
10Good living beseemeth not a fool; how much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
11 Y mae deall yn gwneud rhywun yn amyneddgar, a'i anrhydedd yw maddau tramgwydd.
11The discretion of a man maketh him slow to anger, and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
12 Y mae llid brenin fel rhuad llew ifanc, ond ei ffafr fel gwlith ar laswellt.
12The king's displeasure is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.
13 Y mae mab ynfyd yn ddinistr i'w dad, a checru gwraig fel diferion parhaus.
13A foolish son is the calamity of his father; and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
14 Oddi wrth rieni yr etifeddir tu375? a chyfoeth, ond gan yr ARGLWYDD y ceir gwraig ddeallus.
14House and wealth are an inheritance from fathers; but a prudent wife is from Jehovah.
15 Y mae segurdod yn dwyn trymgwsg, ac i'r diogyn daw newyn.
15Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep, and the idle soul shall suffer hunger.
16 Y mae'r un sy'n cadw gorchymyn yn ei ddiogelu ei hun, ond bydd y sawl sy'n diystyru ei ffyrdd yn marw.
16He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his soul; he that is careless of his ways shall die.
17 Y mae'r un sy'n trugarhau wrth y tlawd yn rhoi benthyg i'r ARGLWYDD, ac fe d�l ef yn �l iddo am ei weithred.
17He that is gracious to the poor lendeth unto Jehovah; and what he hath bestowed will he repay unto him.
18 Cerydda dy fab tra bo gobaith iddo, ond gofala beidio �'i ladd.
18Chasten thy son, seeing there is hope; but set not thy soul upon killing him.
19 Daw cosb ar y gwyllt ei dymer; er iti ei helpu, rhaid gwneud hynny eto.
19A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment; for if thou deliver [him], yet thou must do it again.
20 Gwrando ar gyngor, a derbyn ddisgyblaeth, er mwyn iti fod yn ddoeth yn y diwedd.
20Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
21 Niferus yw bwriadau meddwl pobl, ond cyngor yr ARGLWYDD sy'n sefyll.
21Many are the thoughts in a man's heart, but the counsel of Jehovah, that doth stand.
22 Peth dymunol mewn pobl yw eu teyrngarwch, a gwell yw tlotyn na rhywun celwyddog.
22The charm of a man is his kindness; and a poor [man] is better than a liar.
23 Y mae ofn yr ARGLWYDD yn arwain i fywyd, a'r sawl a'i medd yn gorffwyso heb berygl niwed.
23The fear of Jehovah [tendeth] to life, and he [that hath it] shall rest satisfied without being visited with evil.
24 Er i'r diogyn wthio'i law i'r ddysgl, eto nid yw'n ei chodi at ei enau.
24A sluggard burieth his hand in the dish, and will not even bring it to his mouth again.
25 Os curi'r gwatwarwr, bydd y gwirion yn dysgu gwers; os ceryddi'r deallus, ef ei hun sy'n ennill gwybodaeth.
25Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware; reprove the intelligent, and he will understand knowledge.
26 Y mae'r sawl sy'n cam-drin ei dad ac yn diarddel ei fam yn fab gwaradwyddus ac amharchus.
26He that ruineth [his] father and chaseth away [his] mother is a son that causeth shame and bringeth reproach.
27 Fy mab, os gwrthodi wrando ar gerydd, byddi'n troi oddi wrth eiriau gwybodaeth.
27Cease, my son, to hear the instruction which causeth to stray from the words of knowledge.
28 Y mae tyst anonest yn gwatwar barn, a genau'r drygionus yn parablu camwedd.
28A witness of Belial scorneth judgment, and the mouth of the wicked swalloweth down iniquity.
29 Trefnwyd cosb ar gyfer gwatwarwyr, a chernodiau i gefn ynfydion.
29Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of the foolish.
