1 Mwy dymunol yw enw da na chyfoeth lawer, a gwell yw parch nag arian ac aur.
1A [good] name is rather to be chosen than great riches; loving favour rather than silver and gold.
2 Y mae un peth yn gyffredin i gyfoethog a thlawd: yr ARGLWYDD a'u creodd ill dau.
2The rich and poor meet together; Jehovah is the maker of them all.
3 Y mae'r craff yn gweld perygl ac yn ei osgoi, ond y gwirion yn mynd rhagddo ac yn talu am hynny.
3A prudent [man] seeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.
4 Gwobr gostyngeiddrwydd ac ofn yr ARGLWYDD yw cyfoeth, anrhydedd a bywyd.
4The reward of humility [and] the fear of Jehovah is riches, and honour, and life.
5 Y mae drain a maglau ar ffordd y gwrthnysig, ond y mae'r un gwyliadwrus yn cadw draw oddi wrthynt.
5Thorns [and] snares are in the way of the perverse: he that keepeth his soul holdeth himself far from them.
6 Hyffordda blentyn ar ddechrau ei daith, ac ni thry oddi wrthi pan heneiddia.
6Train up the child according to the tenor of his way, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
7 Y mae'r cyfoethog yn rheoli'r tlawd, ac y mae'r benthyciwr yn was i'r echwynnwr.
7The rich ruleth over the poor; and the borrower is servant to the lender.
8 Y mae'r un sy'n hau anghyfiawnder yn medi gofid, a bydd gwialen ei ymffrost yn methu.
8He that soweth unrighteousness shall reap iniquity, and the rod of his wrath shall have an end.
9 Bendithir yr un hael am ei fod yn rhannu ei fara i'r tlawd.
9He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed, for he giveth of his bread to the poor.
10 Bwrw allan y gwatwarwr, a cheir terfyn ar ymryson, a diwedd ar ddadlau a gwawd.
10Cast out the scorner, and contention will depart, and strife and ignominy shall cease.
11 Yr un sy'n hoffi purdeb meddwl a geiriau grasol, y mae ef yn gyfaill i frenin.
11He that loveth pureness of heart, upon whose lips is grace, the king is his friend.
12 Y mae llygaid yr ARGLWYDD yn gwarchod deall, ond y mae ef yn dymchwel geiriau twyllwr.
12The eyes of Jehovah preserve knowledge; but he overthroweth the words of the unfaithful.
13 Dywed y diog, "Y mae llew y tu allan; fe'm lleddir yn y stryd."
13The sluggard saith, There is a lion without, I shall be killed in the streets!
14 Y mae genau'r wraig ddieithr fel pwll dwfn; y mae'r un a ddigiodd yr ARGLWYDD yn syrthio iddo.
14The mouth of strange women is a deep ditch: he with whom Jehovah is displeased shall fall therein.
15 Y mae ffolineb ynghlwm wrth feddwl plentyn, ond y mae gwialen disgyblaeth yn ei yrru oddi wrtho.
15Folly is bound in the heart of a child; the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
16 Y sawl sy'n gorthrymu'r tlawd i geisio elw iddo'i hun, ac yn rhoi i'r cyfoethog, bydd hwnnw'n diweddu mewn angen.
16He that oppresseth the poor, it is to enrich him; he that giveth to the rich, [bringeth] only to want.
17 Rho sylw, a gwrando ar eiriau'r doethion, a gosod dy feddwl ar fy neall;
17Incline thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thy heart unto my knowledge.
18 oherwydd y mae'n werth iti eu cadw yn dy galon, ac iddynt oll gael eu sicrhau ar dy wefusau.
18For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee: they shall be together fitted on thy lips.
19 Er mwyn i ti roi dy hyder yn yr ARGLWYDD yr wyf yn eu dysgu iti heddiw � ie, i ti!
19That thy confidence may be in Jehovah, I have made [them] known to thee this day, even to thee.
20 Onid wyf wedi ysgrifennu iti ddeg ar hugain o ddywediadau, yn llawn cyngor a deall,
20Have not I written to thee excellent things, in counsels and knowledge,
21 i ddysgu iti wirionedd geiriau cywir, fel y gelli roi ateb cywir i'r rhai a'th anfonodd?
21that I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest carry back words of truth to them that send thee?
22 Paid ag ysbeilio'r tlawd am ei fod yn dlawd, a phaid � sathru'r anghenus yn y porth;
22Rob not the poor, because he is poor, neither oppress the afflicted in the gate;
23 oherwydd bydd yr ARGLWYDD yn dadlau eu hachos, ac yn difetha'r rhai sy'n eu difetha hwy.
23for Jehovah will plead their cause, and despoil the soul of those that despoil them.
24 Paid � chyfeillachu � neb a chanddo dymer ddrwg, nac aros yng nghwmni'r dicllon,
24Make no friendship with an angry man, and go not with a furious man;
25 rhag iti ddysgu ei ffordd, a'th gael dy hun mewn magl.
25lest thou learn his paths, and get a snare to thy soul.
26 Paid � rhoi gwystl, a mynd yn feichiau am ddyledion;
26Be not of them that strike hands, of them that are sureties for debts:
27 os na fydd gennyt ddim i dalu, oni chymerir dy wely oddi arnat?
27if thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?
28 Paid � symud yr hen derfynau a osodwyd gan dy hynafiaid.
28Remove not the ancient landmark which thy fathers have set.
29 Gwelaist un medrus yn ei waith; bydd yn gwasanaethu brenhinoedd, ond ni fydd yn gwasanaethu pobl ddibwys.
29Hast thou seen a man diligent in his work? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before the mean.
