1 Pan eisteddi i fwyta gyda llywodraethwr, rho sylw manwl i'r hyn sydd o'th flaen,
1When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider well who is before thee;
2 a gosod gyllell at dy wddf os wyt yn un blysig.
2and put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite.
3 Paid � chwennych ei ddanteithion, oherwydd bwyd sy'n twyllo ydyw.
3Be not desirous of his dainties; for they are deceitful food.
4 Paid �'th flino dy hun i ennill cyfoeth; bydd yn ddigon synhwyrol i ymatal.
4Weary not thyself to become rich; cease from thine own intelligence:
5 Os tynni dy lygaid oddi arno, y mae'n diflannu, oherwydd y mae'n magu adenydd, fel eryr yn hedfan i'r awyr.
5wilt thou set thine eyes upon it, it is gone; for indeed it maketh itself wings and it flieth away as an eagle towards the heavens.
6 Paid � bwyta gyda neb cybyddlyd, na chwennych ei ddanteithion,
6Eat thou not the food of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainties.
7 oherwydd bydd hynny fel blewyn yn ei lwnc; bydd yn dweud wrthyt, "Bwyta ac yf", ond ni fydd yn meddwl hynny.
7For as he thinketh in his soul, so is he. Eat and drink! will he say unto thee; but his heart is not with thee.
8 Byddi'n chwydu'r tameidiau a fwyteaist, ac yn gwastraffu dy ganmoliaeth.
8Thy morsel which thou hast eaten must thou vomit up, and thou wilt have wasted thy sweet words.
9 Paid � llefaru yng nghlyw'r ffu373?l, oherwydd bydd yn dirmygu synnwyr dy eiriau.
9Speak not in the ears of a foolish [man], for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.
10 Paid � symud yr hen derfynau, na chymryd meddiant o diroedd yr amddifaid;
10Remove not the ancient landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless:
11 oherwydd y mae eu Gwaredwr yn gryf, a bydd yn amddiffyn eu hachos yn dy erbyn.
11for their redeemer is mighty; he will plead their cause against thee.
12 Gosod dy feddwl ar gyfarwyddyd, a'th glust ar eiriau deall.
12Apply thy heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.
13 Paid ag atal disgyblaeth oddi wrth blentyn; os byddi'n ei guro � gwialen, ni fydd yn marw.
13Withhold not correction from the child; for [if] thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die:
14 Os byddi'n ei guro � gwialen, byddi'n achub ei fywyd o Sheol.
14thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from Sheol.
15 Fy mab, os bydd dy galon yn ddoeth, bydd fy nghalon innau yn llawen.
15My son, if thy heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine;
16 Byddaf yn llawenhau drwof i gyd pan fydd dy enau yn llefaru'n uniawn.
16and my reins shall exult, when thy lips speak right things.
17 Paid � chenfigennu wrth bechaduriaid, ond wrth y rhai sy'n ofni'r ARGLWYDD bob amser;
17Let not thy heart envy sinners, but [be thou] in the fear of Jehovah all the day;
18 os felly, bydd dyfodol iti, ac ni thorrir ymaith dy obaith.
18for surely there is a result, and thine expectation shall not be cut off.
19 Fy mab, gwrando a bydd ddoeth, a gosod dy feddwl ar y ffordd iawn.
19Thou, my son, hear and be wise, and direct thy heart in the way.
20 Paid � chyfathrachu �'r rhai sy'n yfed gwin, nac ychwaith �'r rhai glwth;
20Be not among winebibbers, among riotous eaters of flesh.
21 oherwydd bydd y diotwr a'r glwth yn mynd yn dlawd, a bydd syrthni'n eu gwisgo mewn carpiau.
21For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty; and drowsiness clotheth with rags.
22 Gwrando ar dy dad, a'th genhedlodd, a phaid � dirmygu dy fam pan fydd yn hen.
22Hearken unto thy father that begat thee, and despise not thy mother when she is old.
23 Pryn wirionedd, a phaid �'i werthu; pryn ddoethineb, cyfarwyddyd a deall.
23Buy the truth, and sell it not; wisdom, and instruction, and intelligence.
24 Bydd rhieni'r cyfiawn yn llawen iawn, a'r rhai a genhedlodd y doeth yn ymhyfrydu ynddo.
24The father of a righteous [man] shall greatly rejoice, and he that begetteth a wise [son] shall have joy of him:
25 Bydded i'th dad a'th fam gael llawenydd, ac i'r un a esgorodd arnat gael hyfrydwch.
25let thy father and thy mother have joy, and let her that bore thee rejoice.
26 Fy mab, dal sylw arnaf, a bydded i'th lygaid ymhyfrydu yn fy ffyrdd.
26My son, give me thy heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.
27 Y mae'r butain fel pwll dwfn, a'r ddynes estron fel pydew cul;
27For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit.
28 y mae'n llercian fel lleidr, ac yn amlhau'r godinebwyr ymysg dynion.
28She also lieth in wait as a robber, and increaseth the treacherous among men.
29 Pwy sy'n cael gwae? Pwy sy'n cael gofid? Pwy sy'n cael ymryson a chu373?yn? Pwy sy'n cael poen yn ddiachos, a chochni llygaid?
29Who hath woe? Who hath sorrow? Who contentions? Who complaining? Who wounds without cause? Who redness of eyes?
30 Y rhai sy'n oedi uwchben gwin, ac yn dod i brofi gwin wedi ei gymysgu.
30-- They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to try mixed wine.
31 Paid ag edrych ar win pan yw'n goch, pan yw'n pefrio yn y cwpan, ac yn mynd i lawr yn esmwyth.
31Look not upon the wine when it is red, when it sparkleth in the cup, and goeth down smoothly:
32 Yn y diwedd bydd yn brathu fel sarff, ac yn pigo fel gwiber.
32at the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.
33 Bydd dy lygaid yn gweld pethau rhyfedd, a'th feddwl yn mynegi pethau cymysg.
33Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thy heart shall speak froward things;
34 Byddi fel un yn mynd i'w wely yng nghanol y m�r, fel un yn gorwedd ar ben yr hwylbren.
34and thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, and as he that lieth down upon the top of a mast:
35 Byddi'n dweud, "Y maent yn fy nharo, ond nid wyf yn teimlo briw; y maent yn fy nghernodio, ond ni wn hynny. Pa bryd y deffroaf, imi geisio cael diod eto?"
35-- ''They have smitten me, [and] I am not sore; they have beaten me, [and] I knew it not. When shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.''
