1 Fy mab, os rhoddaist wystl i'th gymydog, neu fynd yn feichiau i ddieithryn,
1My son, if thou hast become surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand for a stranger,
2 a chael dy rwymo gan dy eiriau dy hun, a'th ddal gan eiriau dy enau,
2thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.
3 yna gweithreda fel hyn, fy mab, ac achub dy hun: gan dy fod yn llaw dy gymydog, dos ar frys ac ymbil �'th gymydog;
3Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, since thou hast come into the hand of thy friend: go, humble thyself, and be urgent with thy friend.
4 paid � rhoi cwsg i'th lygaid na gorffwys i'th amrannau;
4Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids:
5 achub dy hun fel ewig o afael yr heliwr, neu aderyn o law yr adarwr.
5deliver thyself as a gazelle from the hand [of the hunter], and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
6 Ti ddiogyn, dos at y morgrugyn, a sylwa ar ei ffordd a bydd ddoeth.
6Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways and be wise:
7 Er nad oes ganddo arweinydd na rheolwr na llywodraethwr,
7which having no chief, overseer, or ruler,
8 y mae'n darparu ei gynhaliaeth yn yr haf, yn casglu ei fwyd amser cynhaeaf.
8provideth her bread in the summer, [and] gathereth her food in the harvest.
9 O ddiogyn, am ba hyd y byddi'n gorweddian? Pa bryd y codi o'th gwsg?
9How long, sluggard, wilt thou lie down? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
10 Ychydig gwsg, ychydig hepian, ychydig blethu dwylo i orffwys,
10A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest!
11 a daw tlodi arnat fel dieithryn creulon, ac angen fel gu373?r arfog.
11So shall thy poverty come as a roving plunderer, and thy penury as an armed man.
12 Un dieflig, un drwg, sy'n taenu geiriau dichellgar,
12A man of Belial, a wicked person, is he that goeth about with a perverse mouth;
13 yn wincio �'i lygad, yn pwnio �'i droed, ac yn gwneud arwyddion �'i fysedd.
13he winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
14 Ei fwriad yw gwyrdroi, cynllunio drwg yn wastad, a chreu cynnen.
14deceits are in his heart; he deviseth mischief at all times, he soweth discords.
15 Am hynny daw dinistr arno yn ddisymwth; fe'i dryllir yn sydyn heb fodd i'w arbed.
15Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly: in a moment shall he be broken, and without remedy.
16 Chwe pheth sy'n gas gan yr ARGLWYDD, saith peth sy'n ffiaidd ganddo:
16These six [things] doth Jehovah hate, yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 llygaid balch, tafod ffals, dwylo'n tywallt gwaed dieuog,
17haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood;
18 calon yn cynllunio oferedd, traed yn prysuro i wneud drwg,
18a heart that deviseth wicked imaginations; feet that are swift in running to mischief;
19 gau dyst yn dweud celwydd, ac un sy'n codi cynnen rhwng perthnasau.
19a false witness that uttereth lies, and he that soweth discords among brethren.
20 Fy mab, cadw orchymyn dy dad; paid ag anwybyddu cyfarwyddyd dy fam;
20My son, observe thy father's commandment, and forsake not the teaching of thy mother;
21 clyma hwy'n wastad yn dy galon, rhwym hwy am dy wddf.
21bind them continually upon thy heart, tie them about thy neck:
22 Fe'th arweiniant ple bynnag yr ei, a gwylio drosot pan orffwysi, ac ymddiddan � thi pan gyfodi.
22when thou walkest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and [when] thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
23 Oherwydd y mae gorchymyn yn llusern, a chyfarwyddyd yn oleuni, a cherydd disgyblaeth yn arwain i fywyd,
23For the commandment is a lamp, and the teaching a light, and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
24 ac yn dy gadw rhag gwraig cymydog a rhag gweniaith y ddynes estron.
24to keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
25 Paid � chwennych ei phrydferthwch, a phaid � gadael i'w chiledrychiad dy ddal;
25Lust not after her beauty in thy heart, neither let her take thee with her eyelids;
26 oherwydd gellir cael putain am bris torth, ond y mae gwraig rhywun arall yn chwilio am fywyd brasach.
26for by means of a whorish woman [a man is brought] to a loaf of bread, and another's wife doth hunt for the precious soul.
27 A all dyn gofleidio t�n yn ei fynwes heb losgi ei ddillad?
27Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his garments not be burned?
28 A all dyn gerdded ar farwor heb losgi ei draed?
28Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be scorched?
29 Felly y bydd yr un sy'n mynd at wraig ei gymydog; ni all unrhyw un gyffwrdd � hi heb gosb.
29So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife: whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.
30 Oni ddirmygir lleidr pan fo'n dwyn i foddhau ei chwant, er ei fod yn newynog?
30They do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry:
31 Pan ddelir ef, rhaid iddo dalu'n �l seithwaith, a rhoi'r cyfan sydd ganddo.
31and if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.
32 Felly, y mae'r godinebwr yn un disynnwyr, ac yn ei ddifetha'i hun wrth wneud hynny;
32Whoso committeth adultery with a woman is void of understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.
33 caiff niwed ac amarch, ac ni ddil�ir ei warth.
33A wound and contempt shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
34 Oherwydd y mae eiddigedd yn cynddeiriogi gu373?r priod, ac nid yw'n arbed pan ddaw cyfle i ddial;
34For jealousy is the rage of a man, and he will not spare in the day of vengeance;
35 ni fyn dderbyn iawndal, ac nis bodlonir, er cymaint a roddi.
35he will not regard any ransom, neither will he rest content though thou multipliest [thy] gifts.
