1 1 Mascl. I Asaff.0 Gwrandewch fy nysgeidiaeth, fy mhobl, gogwyddwch eich clust at eiriau fy ngenau.
1{An instruction. Of Asaph.} Give ear, O my people, to my law; incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
2 Agoraf fy ngenau mewn dihareb, a llefaraf ddamhegion o'r dyddiau gynt,
2I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter riddles from of old,
3 pethau a glywsom ac a wyddom, ac a adroddodd ein hynafiaid wrthym.
3Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us:
4 Ni chuddiwn hwy oddi wrth eu disgynyddion, ond adroddwn wrth y genhedlaeth sy'n dod weithredoedd gogoneddus yr ARGLWYDD, a'i rym, a'r pethau rhyfeddol a wnaeth.
4We will not hide [them] from their sons, shewing forth to the generation to come the praises of Jehovah, and his strength, and his marvellous works which he hath done.
5 Fe roes ddyletswydd ar Jacob, a gosod cyfraith yn Israel, a rhoi gorchymyn i'n hynafiaid, i'w dysgu i'w plant;
5For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children;
6 er mwyn i'r to sy'n codi wybod, ac i'r plant sydd heb eu geni eto ddod ac adrodd wrth eu plant;
6That the generation to come might know [them], the children that should be born; that they might rise up and tell [them] to their children,
7 er mwyn iddynt roi eu ffydd yn Nuw, a pheidio ag anghofio gweithredoedd Duw, ond cadw ei orchmynion;
7And that they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of ùGod, but observe his commandments;
8 rhag iddynt fod fel eu tadau yn genhedlaeth gyndyn a gwrthryfelgar, yn genhedlaeth 'i chalon heb fod yn gadarn a'i hysbryd heb fod yn ffyddlon i Dduw.
8And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that prepared not their heart, and whose spirit was not stedfast with ùGod.
9 Bu i feibion Effraim, gwu375?r arfog a saethwyr bwa, droi yn eu holau yn nydd brwydr,
9The sons of Ephraim, armed bowmen, turned back in the day of battle.
10 am iddynt beidio  chadw cyfamod Duw, a gwrthod rhodio yn ei gyfraith;
10They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;
11 am iddynt anghofio ei weithredoedd a'r rhyfeddodau a ddangosodd iddynt.
11And forgot his doings, and his marvellous works which he had shewn them.
12 Gwnaeth bethau rhyfeddol yng ngu373?ydd eu hynafiaid yng ngwlad yr Aifft, yn nhir Soan;
12In the sight of their fathers had he done wonders, in the land of Egypt, the field of Zoan.
13 rhannodd y mr a'u dwyn trwyddo, a gwneud i'r du373?r sefyll fel argae.
13He clave the sea, and caused them to pass through; and made the waters to stand as a heap;
14 Arweiniodd hwy chwmwl y dydd, a thrwy'r nos thn disglair.
14And he led them with a cloud in the daytime, and all the night with the light of fire.
15 Holltodd greigiau yn yr anialwch, a gwneud iddynt yfed o'r dyfroedd di-baid;
15He clave rocks in the wilderness, and gave [them] drink as out of the depths, abundantly;
16 dygodd ffrydiau allan o graig, a pheri i ddu373?r lifo fel afonydd.
16And he brought streams out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.
17 Ond yr oeddent yn dal i bechu yn ei erbyn, ac i herio'r Goruchaf yn yr anialwch,
17Yet they still went on sinning against him, provoking the Most High in the desert;
18 a rhoi prawf ar Dduw yn eu calonnau trwy ofyn bwyd yn l eu blys.
18And they tempted ùGod in their heart, by asking meat for their lust;
19 Bu iddynt lefaru yn erbyn Duw a dweud, "A all Duw arlwyo bwrdd yn yr anialwch?
19And they spoke against God: they said, Is ùGod able to prepare a table in the wilderness?
20 Y mae'n wir iddo daro'r graig ac i ddu373?r bistyllio, ac i afonydd lifo, ond a yw'n medru rhoi bara hefyd, ac yn medru paratoi cig i'w bobl?"
20Behold, he smote the rock, and waters gushed out, and streams overflowed; is he able to give bread also, or provide flesh for his people?
21 Felly, pan glywodd yr ARGLWYDD hyn, digiodd; cyneuwyd tn yn erbyn Jacob, a chododd llid yn erbyn Israel,
21Therefore Jehovah heard, and was wroth; and fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also went up against Israel:
22 am nad oeddent yn credu yn Nuw, nac yn ymddiried yn ei waredigaeth.
22Because they believed not in God, and confided not in his salvation;
23 Yna, rhoes orchymyn i'r ffurfafen uchod, ac agorodd ddrysau'r nefoedd;
23Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and had opened the doors of the heavens,
24 glawiodd arnynt fanna i'w fwyta, a rhoi iddynt u375?d y nefoedd;
24And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them the corn of the heavens.
25 yr oedd pobl yn bwyta bara angylion, a rhoes iddynt fwyd mewn llawnder.
25Man did eat the bread of the mighty; he sent them provision to the full.
26 Gwnaeth i ddwyreinwynt chwythu yn y nefoedd, ac 'i nerth dygodd allan ddeheuwynt;
26He caused the east wind to rise in the heavens, and by his strength he brought the south wind;
27 glawiodd arnynt gig fel llwch, ac adar hedegog fel tywod ar lan y mr;
27And he rained flesh upon them as dust, and feathered fowl as the sand of the seas,
28 parodd iddynt ddisgyn yng nghanol eu gwersyll, o gwmpas eu pebyll ym mhobman.
28And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations:
29 Bwytasant hwythau a chawsant ddigon, oherwydd rhoes iddynt eu dymuniad.
29And they did eat, and were well filled; for that they lusted after, he brought to them.
30 Ond cyn iddynt ddiwallu eu chwant, a'r bwyd yn dal yn eu genau,
30They were not alienated from their lust, their meat was yet in their mouths,
31 cododd dig Duw yn eu herbyn, a lladdodd y rhai mwyaf graenus ohonynt, a darostwng rhai dewisol Israel.
31When the anger of God went up against them; and he slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel.
32 Er hyn, yr oeddent yn dal i bechu, ac nid oeddent yn credu yn ei ryfeddodau.
32For all this, they sinned still, and believed not in his marvellous works;
33 Felly gwnaeth i'w hoes ddarfod ar amrantiad, a'u blynyddoedd mewn dychryn.
33And he consumed their days in vanity, and their years in terror.
34 Pan oedd yn eu taro, yr oeddent yn ei geisio; yr oeddent yn edifarhau ac yn chwilio am Dduw.
34When he slew them, then they sought him, and returned and sought early after ùGod;
35 Yr oeddent yn cofio mai Duw oedd eu craig, ac mai'r Duw Goruchaf oedd eu gwaredydd.
35And they remembered that God was their rock, and ùGod, the Most High, their redeemer.
36 Ond yr oeddent yn rhagrithio 'u genau, ac yn dweud celwydd 'u tafodau;
36But they flattered him with their mouth, and lied unto him with their tongue;
37 nid oedd eu calon yn glynu wrtho, ac nid oeddent yn ffyddlon i'w gyfamod.
37For their heart was not firm toward him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant.
38 Eto, bu ef yn drugarog, maddeuodd eu trosedd, ac ni ddistrywiodd hwy; dro ar l tro ataliodd ei ddig, a chadw ei lid rhag codi.
38But he was merciful: he forgave the iniquity, and destroyed [them] not; but many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his fury:
39 Cofiodd mai cnawd oeddent, gwynt sy'n mynd heibio heb ddychwelyd.
39And he remembered that they were flesh, a breath that passeth away and cometh not again.
40 Mor aml y bu iddynt wrthryfela yn ei erbyn yn yr anialwch, a pheri gofid iddo yn y diffeithwch!
40How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!
41 Dro ar l tro rhoesant brawf ar Dduw, a blino Sanct Israel.
41And they turned again and tempted ùGod, and grieved the Holy One of Israel.
42 Nid oeddent yn cofio ei rym y dydd y gwaredodd hwy rhag y gelyn,
42They remembered not his hand, the day when he delivered them from the oppressor,
43 pan roes ei arwyddion yn yr Aifft a'i ryfeddodau ym meysydd Soan.
43How he set his signs in Egypt, and his miracles in the field of Zoan;
44 Fe drodd eu hafonydd yn waed, ac ni allent yfed o'u ffrydiau.
44And turned their rivers into blood, and their streams, that they could not drink;
45 Anfonodd bryfetach arnynt a'r rheini'n eu hysu, a llyffaint a oedd yn eu difa.
45He sent dog-flies among them, which devoured them, and frogs, which destroyed them;
46 Rhoes eu cnwd i'r lindys, a ffrwyth eu llafur i'r locust.
46And he gave their increase unto the caterpillar, and their labour unto the locust;
47 Dinistriodd eu gwinwydd chenllysg, a'u sycamorwydd glawogydd.
47He killed their vines with hail, and their sycamore trees with hail-stones;
48 Rhoes eu gwartheg i'r haint, a'u diadell i'r plu.
48And he delivered up their cattle to the hail, and their flocks to thunderbolts.
49 Anfonodd ei lid mawr arnynt, a hefyd ddicter, cynddaredd a gofid cwmni o negeswyr gwae
49He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and distress, -- a mission of angels of woes.
50 a rhoes ryddid i'w lidiowgrwydd. Nid arbedodd hwy rhag marwolaeth ond rhoi eu bywyd i'r haint.
50He made a way for his anger; he spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence;
51 Trawodd holl rai cyntafanedig yr Aifft, blaenffrwyth eu nerth ym mhebyll Ham.
51And he smote all the firstborn in Egypt, the first-fruits of their vigour in the tents of Ham.
52 Yna dygodd allan ei bobl fel defaid, a'u harwain fel praidd trwy'r anialwch;
52And he made his own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock;
53 arweiniodd hwy'n ddiogel heb fod arnynt ofn, ond gorchuddiodd y mr eu gelynion.
53And he led them safely, so that they were without fear; and the sea covered their enemies.
54 Dygodd hwy i'w dir sanctaidd, i'r mynydd a goncrodd 'i ddeheulaw.
54And he brought them to his holy border, this mountain, which his right hand purchased;
55 Gyrrodd allan genhedloedd o'u blaenau; rhannodd eu tir yn etifeddiaeth, a gwneud i lwythau Israel fyw yn eu pebyll.
55And he drove out the nations before them, and allotted them for an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
56 Eto, profasant y Duw Goruchaf a gwrthryfela yn ei erbyn, ac nid oeddent yn cadw ei ofynion.
56But they tempted and provoked God, the Most High, and kept not his testimonies,
57 Troesant a mynd yn fradwrus fel eu hynafiaid; yr oeddent mor dwyllodrus bwa llac.
57And they drew back and dealt treacherously like their fathers: they turned like a deceitful bow.
58 Digiasant ef 'u huchelfeydd, a'i wneud yn eiddigeddus 'u heilunod.
58And they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.
59 Pan glywodd Duw, fe ddigiodd, a gwrthod Israel yn llwyr;
59God heard, and was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel:
60 gadawodd ei drigfan yn Seilo, y babell lle'r oedd yn byw ymysg pobl;
60And he forsook the tabernacle at Shiloh, the tent where he had dwelt among men,
61 gadawodd i'w gadernid fynd i gaethglud, a'i ogoniant i ddwylo gelynion;
61And gave his strength into captivity, and his glory into the hand of the oppressor;
62 rhoes ei bobl i'r cleddyf, a thywallt ei lid ar ei etifeddiaeth.
62And delivered up his people unto the sword, and was very wroth with his inheritance:
63 Ysodd tn eu gwu375?r ifainc, ac nid oedd gn briodas i'w morynion;
63The fire consumed their young men, and their maidens were not praised in [nuptial] song;
64 syrthiodd eu hoffeiriaid trwy'r cleddyf, ac ni allai eu gweddwon alaru.
64Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows made no lamentation.
65 Yna, cododd yr Arglwydd, fel o gwsg, fel rhyfelwr yn cael ei symbylu gan win.
65Then the Lord awoke as one out of sleep, like a mighty man that shouteth aloud by reason of wine;
66 Trawodd ei elynion yn eu holau, a dwyn arnynt warth tragwyddol.
66And he smote his adversaries in the hinder part, and put them to everlasting reproach.
67 Gwrthododd babell Joseff, ac ni ddewisodd lwyth Effraim;
67And he rejected the tent of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim,
68 ond dewisodd lwyth Jwda, a Mynydd Seion y mae'n ei garu.
68But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved;
69 Cododd ei gysegr cyn uched 'r nefoedd, a'i sylfeini, fel y ddaear, am byth.
69And he built his sanctuary like the heights, like the earth which he hath founded for ever.
70 Dewisodd Ddafydd yn was iddo, a'i gymryd o'r corlannau defaid;
70And he chose David his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:
71 o fod yn gofalu am y mamogiaid daeth ag ef i fugeilio'i bobl Jacob, ac Israel ei etifeddiaeth.
71From following the suckling-ewes, he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance.
72 Bugeiliodd hwy chalon gywir, a'u harwain llaw ddeheuig.
72And he fed them according to the integrity of his heart, and led them by the skilfulness of his hands.
