1 Gwnaeth Solomon gynghrair Pharo brenin yr Aifft trwy briodi ei ferch. Daeth hi i Ddinas Dafydd i fyw nes iddo ddarfod adeiladu ei du375? ei hun a thu375?'r ARGLWYDD, a'r mur o amgylch Jerwsalem.
1Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh’s daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of Yahweh, and the wall of Jerusalem all around.
2 Yr oedd y bobl yn dal i aberthu mewn uchelfeydd, am nad oedd tu375? i enw'r ARGLWYDD eto wedi ei adeiladu.
2Only the people sacrificed in the high places, because there was no house built for the name of Yahweh until those days.
3 Yr oedd Solomon yn caru'r ARGLWYDD, gan rodio yn l deddfau ei dad Dafydd, ond yn aberthu ac yn arogldarthu mewn uchelfeydd.
3Solomon loved Yahweh, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.
4 Aeth y brenin i aberthu i Gibeon. Honno oedd y brif uchelfa; mil o boethoffrymau a offrymai Solomon ar yr allor yno.
4The king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place. Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.
5 Ymddangosodd yr ARGLWYDD i Solomon yn Gibeon mewn breuddwyd liw nos; a dywedodd DUW, "Gofyn beth bynnag a fynni gennyf."
5In Gibeon Yahweh appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, “Ask what I shall give you.”
6 Dywedodd Solomon, "Buost yn ffyddlon iawn i'm tad Dafydd, dy was, am iddo rodio gyda thi mewn gwirionedd a chyfiawnder a chywirdeb calon. Ie, parheaist yn ffyddlon iawn iddo, a rhoi iddo fab i eistedd ar ei orseddfainc heddiw.
6Solomon said, “You have shown to your servant David my father great loving kindness, according as he walked before you in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with you. You have kept for him this great loving kindness, that you have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
7 Yn awr, O ARGLWYDD fy Nuw, gwnaethost dy was yn frenin yn lle fy nhad Dafydd, a minnau'n llanc ifanc, dibrofiad.
7Now, Yahweh my God, you have made your servant king instead of David my father. I am but a little child. I don’t know how to go out or come in.
8 Ac y mae dy was yng nghanol dy ddewis bobl, sy'n rhy niferus i'w rhifo na'u cyfrif.
8Your servant is in the midst of your people which you have chosen, a great people, that can’t be numbered nor counted for multitude.
9 Felly rho i'th was galon ddeallus i farnu dy bobl, i ddirnad da a drwg; oherwydd pwy a ddichon farnu dy bobl luosog hyn?"
9Give your servant therefore an understanding heart to judge your people, that I may discern between good and evil; for who is able to judge this your great people?”
10 Bu'n dderbyniol yng ngolwg yr ARGLWYDD i Solomon ofyn y peth hwn,
10The speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.
11 a dywedodd Duw wrtho, "Oherwydd iti ofyn hyn, ac nid gofyn i ti dy hun flynyddoedd lawer, na chyfoeth, nac einioes dy elynion, ond gofyn deall wrth wrando achos,
11God said to him, “Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself long life, neither have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice;
12 gwnaf yn l dy eiriau. Rhoddaf iti galon ddoeth a deallus, fel na bu dy fath o'th flaen, ac na chyfyd chwaith ar dy l.
12behold, I have done according to your word. Behold, I have given you a wise and an understanding heart; so that there has been none like you before you, neither after you shall any arise like you.
13 Rhoddaf hefyd iti yr hyn nis gofynnaist, sef cyfoeth a gogoniant, fel na bydd dy fath ymysg brenhinoedd, dy holl ddyddiau di.
13I have also given you that which you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that there shall not be any among the kings like you, all your days.
14 Ac os bydd iti rodio yn fy ffyrdd, a chadw fy neddfau a'm gorchmynion, fel y rhodiodd dy dad Dafydd, estynnaf dy ddyddiau hefyd."
14If you will walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days.”
15 Deffrdd Solomon, a sylweddoli mai breuddwyd oedd. Pan ddaeth yn l i Jerwsalem, safodd o flaen arch cyfamod yr ARGLWYDD ac offrymodd boeth-offrymau a heddoffrymau, a gwnaeth wledd i'w holl weision.
15Solomon awoke; and behold, it was a dream. Then he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, and offered up burnt offerings, offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.
16 Daeth dwy buteinwraig at y brenin a sefyll o'i flaen.
16Then two women who were prostitutes came to the king, and stood before him.
17 Dywedodd y naill, "O f'arglwydd, roeddwn i a'r wraig hon yn byw yn yr un tu375?, ac esgorais ar blentyn yn y tu375?, a hithau yno.
17The one woman said, “Oh, my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house. I delivered a child with her in the house.
18 Tridiau wedi i mi esgor, esgorodd y wraig hon hefyd, heb neb ond ni'n dwy yn y tu375?.
18It happened the third day after I delivered, that this woman delivered also. We were together. There was no stranger with us in the house, just us two in the house.
19 Bu farw plentyn y wraig hon yn y nos, am iddi orwedd arno;
19This woman’s child died in the night, because she lay on it.
20 cododd hithau yn ystod y nos a chymryd fy mab o'm hymyl tra oeddwn i, dy lawforwyn, yn cysgu, a'i gymryd i'w chl a gosod ei phlentyn marw yn fy nghl i.
20She arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while your handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.
21 Pan godais yn y bore i roi sugn i'm mab, yr oedd yn farw; ond wedi imi graffu arno yn y bore, nid hwnnw oedd y mab yr esgorais i arno."
21When I rose in the morning to nurse my child, behold, it was dead; but when I had looked at it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, whom I bore.”
22 Meddai'r wraig arall, "Na, fy mab i yw'r un byw; dy fab di yw'r un marw." Yna, dyma'r gyntaf yn dweud, "Na, dy fab di yw'r marw; fy mab i yw'r byw." Taeru felly y buont gerbron y brenin.
22The other woman said, “No; but the living is my son, and the dead is your son.” This said, “No; but the dead is your son, and the living is my son.” Thus they spoke before the king.
23 Yna dywedodd y brenin, "Y mae'r naill yn dweud, 'Hwn yw fy mab i, y byw; yr un marw yw dy fab di.' Ac y mae'r llall yn dweud, 'Na, dy fab di yw'r marw; fy mab i yw'r byw.'"
23Then the king said, “The one says, ‘This is my son who lives, and your son is the dead;’ and the other says, ‘No; but your son is the dead one, and my son is the living one.’”
24 Yna dywedodd y brenin, "Dewch chleddyf imi."
24The king said, “Get me a sword.” They brought a sword before the king.
25 Pan ddaethant 'r cleddyf gerbron y brenin, ebe'r brenin, "Rhannwch y bachgen byw yn ddau, a rhowch hanner i'r naill a hanner i'r llall."
25The king said, “Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.”
26 Ond meddai'r wraig oedd piau'r plentyn byw wrth y brenin (oherwydd enynnodd ei thosturi tuag at ei baban), "O f'arglwydd, rhowch iddi hi y plentyn byw, a pheidiwch 'i ladd ar un cyfrif."
26Then the woman whose the living child was spoke to the king, for her heart yearned over her son, and she said, “Oh, my lord, give her the living child, and in no way kill it!” But the other said, “It shall be neither mine nor yours. Divide it.”
27 Ond dywedodd y llall, "Na foed yn eiddo i mi na thithau; rhannwch ef." Atebodd y brenin, "Peidiwch 'i ladd; rhowch y plentyn byw i'r gyntaf; honno yw ei fam."
27Then the king answered, “Give her the living child, and in no way kill it. She is its mother.”
28 Clywodd holl Israel ddyfarniad y brenin, ac ofnasant ef, am eu bod yn gweld ynddo ddoethineb ddwyfol i weinyddu barn.
28All Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do justice.
