1 Aeth Job ymlaen �'i ddadl, gan ddweud:
1Job again took up his parable, and said,
2 "O na byddwn fel yn yr amser gynt, yn y dyddiau pan oedd Duw yn fy ngwarchod,
2“Oh that I were as in the months of old, as in the days when God watched over me;
3 pan wn�i i'w lamp oleuo uwch fy mhen, a minnau'n rhodio wrth ei goleuni trwy'r tywyllwch;
3when his lamp shone on my head, and by his light I walked through darkness,
4 pan oeddwn yn nyddiau f'anterth, a Duw'n cysgodi dros fy nhrigfan;
4as I was in the ripeness of my days, when the friendship of God was in my tent,
5 pan oedd yr Hollalluog yn parhau gyda mi, a'm plant o'm cwmpas.
5when the Almighty was yet with me, and my children were around me,
6 Gallwn olchi fy nghamau mewn llaeth, ac yr oedd y graig yn tywallt ffrydiau o olew imi.
6when my steps were washed with butter, and the rock poured out streams of oil for me,
7 "Awn allan i borth y ddinas, ac eisteddwn yn fy sedd ar y sgw�r;
7when I went forth to the city gate, when I prepared my seat in the street.
8 a phan welai'r llanciau fi, cilient, a chodai'r hynafgwyr ar eu traed;
8The young men saw me and hid themselves. The aged rose up and stood.
9 peidiai'r arweinwyr � llefaru, a rhoddent eu llaw ar eu genau;
9The princes refrained from talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.
10 tawai siarad y pendefigion, a glynai eu tafod wrth daflod eu genau.
10The voice of the nobles was hushed, and their tongue stuck to the roof of their mouth.
11 "Pan glywai clust, galwai fi'n ddedwydd, a phan welai llygad, canmolai fi;
11For when the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it commended me:
12 oherwydd gwaredwn y tlawd a lefai, a'r amddifad a'r diymgeledd.
12Because I delivered the poor who cried, and the fatherless also, who had none to help him,
13 Bendith yr un ar ddarfod amdano a dd�i arnaf, a gwnawn i galon y weddw lawenhau.
13the blessing of him who was ready to perish came on me, and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.
14 Gwisgwn gyfiawnder fel dillad amdanaf; yr oedd fy marn fel mantell a thwrban.
14I put on righteousness, and it clothed me. My justice was as a robe and a diadem.
15 Yr oeddwn yn llygaid i'r dall, ac yn draed i'r cloff.
15I was eyes to the blind, and feet to the lame.
16 Yr oeddwn yn dad i'r tlawd, a chwiliwn i achos y sawl nad adwaenwn.
16I was a father to the needy. The cause of him who I didn’t know, I searched out.
17 Drylliwn gilddannedd yr anghyfiawn, a pheri iddo ollwng yr ysglyfaeth o'i enau.
17I broke the jaws of the unrighteous, and plucked the prey out of his teeth.
18 Yna dywedais, 'Byddaf farw yn f'anterth, a'm dyddiau mor niferus �'r tywod,
18Then I said, ‘I shall die in my own house, I shall number my days as the sand.
19 a'm gwreiddiau yn ymestyn at y dyfroedd, a'r gwlith yn aros drwy'r nos ar fy mrigau,
19My root is spread out to the waters. The dew lies all night on my branch.
20 a'm hanrhydedd o hyd yn iraidd, a'm bwa yn adnewyddu yn fy llaw.'
20My glory is fresh in me. My bow is renewed in my hand.’
21 "Gwrandawai pobl arnaf, a disgwylient yn ddistaw am fy nghyngor.
21“Men listened to me, waited, and kept silence for my counsel.
22 Wedi imi lefaru, ni ddywedent air; diferai fy ngeiriau arnynt.
22After my words they didn’t speak again. My speech fell on them.
23 Disgwylient wrthyf fel am y glaw, ac agorent eu genau fel am law y gwanwyn.
23They waited for me as for the rain. Their mouths drank as with the spring rain.
24 Pan wenwn arnynt, oni chaent hyder? A phan lewyrchai fy wyneb, ni fyddent brudd.
24I smiled on them when they had no confidence. They didn’t reject the light of my face.
25 Dewiswn eu ffordd iddynt, ac eistedd yn ben arnynt; eisteddwn fel brenin yng nghanol ei lu, fel un yn cysuro'r galarus.
25I chose out their way, and sat as chief. I lived as a king in the army, as one who comforts the mourners.
