1 Y diwrnod hwnnw, yn ystod y darlleniad o lyfr Moses i'r bobl, cafwyd ei bod yn ysgrifenedig nad oedd Ammoniaid na Moabiaid byth i ddod i mewn i gynulleidfa Duw,
1On that day they read in the book of Moses in the audience of the people; and therein was found written, that an Ammonite and a Moabite should not enter into the assembly of God forever,
2 am na ddaethant i gyfarfod 'r Israeliaid bwyd a diod, eithr yn hytrach gyflogi Balaam yn eu herbyn, i'w melltithio; ond fe drodd ein Duw y felltith yn fendith.
2because they didn’t meet the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them, to curse them: however our God turned the curse into a blessing.
3 A phan glywsant y gyfraith gwahanwyd oddi wrth Israel bawb o waed cymysg.
3It came to pass, when they had heard the law, that they separated from Israel all the mixed multitude.
4 Ond cyn hyn yr oedd Eliasib yr offeiriad wedi ei wneud yn gyfrifol am ystafelloedd tu375? ein Duw.
4Now before this, Eliashib the priest, who was appointed over the rooms of the house of our God, being allied to Tobiah,
5 Yr oedd ef yn perthyn i Tobeia, ac wedi rhoi iddo ystafell fawr lle gynt y cedwid y bwydoffrwm a'r thus, y llestri a degwm yr u375?d, y gwin a'r olew oedd yn ddyledus i'r Lefiaid ac i'r cantorion a'r porthorion, a'r cyfraniad ar gyfer yr offeiriaid.
5had prepared for him a great room, where before they laid the meal offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the grain, the new wine, and the oil, which were given by commandment to the Levites, and the singers, and the porters; and the wave offerings for the priests.
6 Yr adeg honno nid oeddwn i yn Jerwsalem, oherwydd yn y ddeuddegfed flwyddyn ar hugain i Artaxerxes brenin Babilon yr oeddwn wedi mynd at y brenin. Ychydig yn ddiweddarach gofynnais ei ganiatd i ddychwelyd.
6But in all this, I was not at Jerusalem; for in the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon I went to the king: and after certain days asked I leave of the king,
7 Pan gyrhaeddais Jerwsalem gwelais y camwri a wnaeth Eliasib ynglu375?n Tobeia trwy roi ystafell iddo yng nghynteddoedd tu375? Dduw.
7and I came to Jerusalem, and understood the evil that Eliashib had done for Tobiah, in preparing him a room in the courts of God’s house.
8 Cythruddodd hyn fi'n ddirfawr, a theflais ddodrefn Tobeia i gyd allan o'r ystafell;
8It grieved me severely: therefore I cast forth all the household stuff of Tobiah out of the room.
9 a gorchmynnais iddynt buro'r ystafelloedd, a rhoddais lestri tu375? Dduw a'r bwydoffrwm a'r thus yn l yno.
9Then I commanded, and they cleansed the rooms: and there brought I again the vessels of God’s house, with the meal offerings and the frankincense.
10 Darganfm hefyd nad oedd y Lefiaid wedi derbyn eu cyfrannau, a'u bod hwy a'r cantorion oedd yn gyfrifol am y gwasanaethau wedi mynd i ffwrdd i'w ffermydd.
10I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them; so that the Levites and the singers, who did the work, had fled everyone to his field.
11 Yna ceryddais y swyddogion a dweud, "Pam y cafodd tu375? Dduw ei esgeuluso?" Ac fe'u cesglais at ei gilydd, a'u gosod yn l wrth eu gwaith.
11Then I contended with the rulers, and said, “Why is God’s house forsaken?” I gathered them together, and set them in their place.
12 Yna daeth holl Jwda degwm yr u375?d a'r gwin a'r olew i'r trysordai.
12Then brought all Judah the tithe of the grain and the new wine and the oil to the treasuries.
13 Ac etholais yn drysoryddion Selemeia yr offeiriad, Sadoc yr ysgrifennydd, a Pedaia y Lefiad, a Hanan fab Saccur, fab Metaneia i'w cynorthwyo, oherwydd fe'u cyfrifid yn rhai dibynadwy, a'u dyletswydd hwy oedd rhannu i'w brodyr.
13I made treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah: and next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah; for they were counted faithful, and their business was to distribute to their brothers.
14 Cofia fi, fy Nuw, am hyn, a phaid dileu'r daioni a wneuthum i du375? fy Nuw a'i wasanaethau.
14Remember me, my God, concerning this, and don’t wipe out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and for its observances.
15 Yn y dyddiau hynny gwelais ddynion yn Jwda yn sathru gwinwryf ar y Saboth, ac yn pentyrru grawn, ac yn llwytho asynnod gwin, grawnwin, ffigys, a phob math o feichiau, ac yn eu cario i Jerwsalem ar y dydd Saboth. Rhybuddiais hwy am werthu bwyd ar y dydd hwn.
15In those days saw I in Judah some men treading winepresses on the Sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and loading donkeys; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all kinds of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day: and I testified against them in the day in which they sold food.
16 Daeth y Tyriaid oedd yn byw yn y ddinas physgod a phob math o farsiandaeth i'w gwerthu ar y Saboth i bobl Jwda yn Jerwsalem.
16There lived men of Tyre also therein, who brought in fish, and all kinds of wares, and sold on the Sabbath to the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem.
17 Felly ceryddais bendefigion Jwda a dweud wrthynt, "Beth yw'r drwg hwn yr ydych yn ei wneud, yn halogi'r dydd Saboth?
17Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said to them, “What evil thing is this that you do, and profane the Sabbath day?
18 Onid dyma a wnaeth eich hynafiaid fel y daeth ein Duw 'r holl ddrwg hwn arnom ni ac ar y ddinas hon? Yr ydych yn dod mwy eto o lid ar Israel trwy halogi'r Saboth."
18Didn’t your fathers do thus, and didn’t our God bring all this evil on us, and on this city? Yet you bring more wrath on Israel by profaning the Sabbath.”
19 Yna, cyn dechrau'r Saboth, fel yr oedd yn nosi dros byrth Jerwsalem, gorchmynnais gau'r drysau, ac nad oedd neb i'w hagor cyn diwedd y Saboth. A gosodais rai o'm llanciau wrth y pyrth fel na chi dim ei gario i mewn ar y dydd Saboth.
19It came to pass that, when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the Sabbath, I commanded that the doors should be shut, and commanded that they should not be opened until after the Sabbath. I set some of my servants over the gates, that no burden should be brought in on the Sabbath day.
20 Unwaith neu ddwy gwersyllodd y masnachwyr a gwerthwyr pob math o nwyddau y tu allan i Jerwsalem,
20So the merchants and sellers of all kinds of wares lodged outside of Jerusalem once or twice.
21 ond rhybuddiais hwy a dweud, "Pam yr ydych yn gwersyllu yn ymyl y mur? Os gwnewch hyn eto fe'ch cosbaf chwi." o'r dydd hwnnw ymlaen ni ddaethant ar y Saboth.
21Then I testified against them, and said to them, “Why do you stay around the wall? If you do so again, I will lay hands on you.” From that time on, they didn’t come on the Sabbath.
22 A gorchmynnais i'r Lefiaid eu puro eu hunain a dod i wylio'r pyrth, er mwyn cadw'r dydd Saboth yn sanctaidd. Am hyn hefyd cofia fi, fy Nuw, ac arbed fi yn dy drugaredd fawr.
22I commanded the Levites that they should purify themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the Sabbath day. Remember to me, my God, this also, and spare me according to the greatness of your loving kindness.
23 Yn y dyddiau hynny hefyd gwelais fod rhai Iddewon wedi priodi merched o Asdod, Ammon a Moab.
23In those days also saw I the Jews who had married women of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab:
24 Yr oedd hanner eu plant yn siarad iaith Asdod, heb fedru siarad iaith yr Iddewon, a'r lleill yn siarad tafodiaith gymysg.
24and their children spoke half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews’ language, but according to the language of each people.
25 Ceryddais hwy a'u melltithio, a tharo rhai ohonynt a thynnu eu gwallt; gwneuthum iddynt gymryd llw yn enw Duw i beidio rhoi eu merched i feibion yr estron, na chymryd eu merched hwy i'w meibion nac iddynt eu hunain.
25I contended with them, and cursed them, and struck certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, “You shall not give your daughters to their sons, nor take their daughters for your sons, or for yourselves.
26 "Onid o achos merched fel hyn," meddwn, "y pechodd Solomon brenin Israel? Ni fu brenin tebyg iddo ymysg yr holl genhedloedd, yn un yr oedd Duw yn ei garu, ac wedi ei wneud ganddo yn frenin ar Israel gyfan; eto fe wnaeth merched estron iddo yntau bechu.
26Didn’t Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? Yet among many nations was there no king like him, and he was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless foreign women caused even him to sin.
27 A ddylem ni felly wrando arnoch chwi i wneud y drwg mawr hwn, a throseddu yn erbyn ein Duw trwy briodi merched estron?"
27Shall we then listen to you to do all this great evil, to trespass against our God in marrying foreign women?”
28 Yr oedd un o feibion Joiada, mab Eliasib yr archoffeiriad, yn fab-yng-nghyfraith i Sanbalat yr Horoniad; am hynny gyrrais ef o'm gu373?ydd.
28One of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son-in-law to Sanballat the Horonite: therefore I chased him from me.
29 Cofia hwy, O fy Nuw, am iddynt halogi'r offeiriadaeth a chyfamod yr offeiriaid a'r Lefiaid.
29Remember them, my God, because they have defiled the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood, and of the Levites.
30 Yna glanheais hwy oddi wrth bopeth estron, a threfnais ddyletswyddau i'r offeiriaid a'r Lefiaid, pob un yn ei swydd.
30Thus I cleansed them from all foreigners, and appointed duties for the priests and for the Levites, everyone in his work;
31 Gwneuthum ddarpariaeth hefyd ar gyfer coed yr offrwm ar wyliau penodedig, ac ar gyfer y blaenffrwyth. Cofia fi, fy Nuw, er daioni.
31and for the wood offering, at times appointed, and for the first fruits. Remember me, my God, for good.
