Nehemiah

8

1 Pan ddaeth y seithfed mis, a'r Israeliaid erbyn hyn yn eu trefi, ymgasglodd yr holl bobl fel un yn y sgwr sydd o flaen Porth y Du373?r. Yna dywedasant wrth Esra yr ysgrifennydd am ddod llyfr cyfraith Moses, sef yr un a orchmynnodd yr ARGLWYDD i Israel.
1All the people gathered themselves together as one man into the broad place that was before the water gate; and they spoke to Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which Yahweh had commanded to Israel.
2 Ar y dydd cyntaf o'r seithfed mis daeth Esra yr offeiriad 'r gyfraith o flaen y gynulleidfa, yn wu375?r a gwragedd, pawb a fedrai ddeall yr hyn a glywai.
2Ezra the priest brought the law before the assembly, both men and women, and all who could hear with understanding, on the first day of the seventh month.
3 Darllenodd rannau ohoni, o doriad gwawr hyd hanner dydd, yng ngu373?ydd y gwu375?r a'r gwragedd oedd yn medru deall, gan wynebu'r sgwr o flaen Porth y Du373?r; a gwrandawodd pawb yn astud ar lyfr y gyfraith.
3He read therein before the broad place that was before the water gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women, and of those who could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive to the book of the law.
4 Safodd Esra yr ysgrifennydd ar bulpud pren oedd wedi ei wneud i'r diben. Ar yr ochr dde iddo safodd Matitheia, Sema, Anaia, Ureia, Hilceia a Maaseia, ac ar y chwith Pedaia, Misael, Malcheia, Hasum, Hasbadana, Sechareia a Mesulam.
4Ezra the scribe stood on a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Uriah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchijah, and Hashum, and Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam.
5 Agorodd Esra y llyfr yng ngolwg yr holl bobl, oherwydd yr oedd ef yn uwch na hwy, a phan agorodd y llyfr, safodd pawb ar eu traed.
5Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people;) and when he opened it, all the people stood up:
6 Bendithiodd Esra yr ARGLWYDD, y Duw mawr, ac atebodd yr holl bobl, "Amen, Amen", gan godi eu dwylo ac ymgrymu ac addoli'r ARGLWYDD 'u hwynebau tua'r ddaear.
6and Ezra blessed Yahweh, the great God. All the people answered, “Amen, Amen,” with the lifting up of their hands. They bowed their heads, and worshiped Yahweh with their faces to the ground.
7 Yr oedd y Lefiaid, Jesua, Bani, Serebeia, Jamin, Accub, Sabbethai, Hodeia, Maaseia, Celita, Asareia, Josabad, Hanan, Pelaia, yn egluro'r gyfraith i'r bobl, a hwythau'n aros yn eu lle.
7Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people stayed in their place.
8 Yr oeddent yn darllen o lyfr cyfraith Dduw, ac yn ei gyfieithu a'i esbonio fel bod pawb yn deall y darlleniad.
8They read in the book, in the law of God, distinctly; and they gave the sense, so that they understood the reading.
9 Yna dywedodd Nehemeia y llywodraethwr ac Esra yr offeiriad a'r ysgrifennydd, a'r Lefiaid oedd yn hyfforddi'r bobl, wrth yr holl bobl, "Y mae heddiw yn ddydd sanctaidd i'r ARGLWYDD eich Duw; peidiwch galaru nac wylo." Oherwydd yr oedd pawb yn wylo wrth wrando ar eiriau'r gyfraith.
9Nehemiah, who was the governor, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites who taught the people, said to all the people, “This day is holy to Yahweh your God. Don’t mourn, nor weep.” For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.
10 Yna fe ddywedodd wrthynt, "Ewch, bwytewch ddanteithion ac yfwch win melys a rhannwch 'r sawl sydd heb ddim, oherwydd mae heddiw yn ddydd sanctaidd i'n Harglwydd; felly, peidiwch galaru, oherwydd llawenhau yn yr ARGLWYDD yw eich nerth."
10Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Don’t be grieved; for the joy of Yahweh is your strength.”
11 A thawelodd y Lefiaid yr holl bobl a dweud, "Byddwch ddistaw; peidiwch galaru, oherwydd y mae heddiw yn ddydd sanctaidd."
11So the Levites stilled all the people, saying, “Hold your peace, for the day is holy; neither be grieved.”
12 Yna aeth pawb i ffwrdd i fwyta ac yfed ac i rannu ag eraill ac i orfoleddu, oherwydd yr oeddent wedi deall yr hyn a ddywedwyd wrthynt.
12All the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared to them.
13 Ar yr ail ddiwrnod daeth pennau-teuluoedd yr holl bobl, a'r offeiriaid a'r Lefiaid, at Esra yr ysgrifennydd er mwyn astudio geiriau'r gyfraith.
13On the second day were gathered together the heads of fathers’ households of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, to Ezra the scribe, even to give attention to the words of the law.
14 Yn y gyfraith a orchmynnodd yr ARGLWYDD trwy Moses, fe gawsant yn ysgrifenedig y dylai'r Israeliaid fyw mewn pebyll yn ystod yr u373?yl yn y seithfed mis,
14They found written in the law, how that Yahweh had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month;
15 a'u bod i anfon gair a chyhoeddi ym mhob un o'u dinasoedd yn ogystal ag yn Jerwsalem, "Ewch allan i'r mynydd, a dygwch gangau olewydd ac olewydd gwyllt a myrtwydd a phalmwydd a choed deiliog i wneud pebyll, fel yr ysgrifennwyd."
15and that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities, and in Jerusalem, saying, “Go out to the mountain, and get olive branches, and branches of wild olive, and myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written.”
16 Aeth y bobl allan i'w cyrchu, a gwnaethant bebyll iddynt eu hunain, pob un ar do ei du375? ac yn eu cynteddoedd ac yng nghynteddoedd tu375? Dduw ac yn y sgwr o flaen Porth y Du373?r ac yn y sgwr o flaen Porth Effraim.
16So the people went out, and brought them, and made themselves booths, everyone on the roof of his house, and in their courts, and in the courts of God’s house, and in the broad place of the water gate, and in the broad place of the gate of Ephraim.
17 Gwnaeth yr holl gynulleidfa a ddychwelodd o'r gaethglud bebyll, a byw ynddynt. Nid oedd yr Israeliaid wedi gwneud hyn o amser Josua fab Nun hyd y dydd hwnnw; a bu gorfoledd mawr iawn.
17All the assembly of those who had come again out of the captivity made booths, and lived in the booths; for since the days of Jeshua the son of Nun to that day the children of Israel had not done so. There was very great gladness.
18 Darllenwyd o lyfr cyfraith Dduw yn feunyddiol o'r dydd cyntaf hyd yr olaf. Cadwasant yr u373?yl am saith diwrnod, ac ar yr wythfed dydd bu cynulliad yn l y ddefod.
18Also day by day, from the first day to the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. They kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according to the ordinance.
