¹کسی که بعد از سرزنش زیاد بازهم سرسختی کند، ناگهان خُرد می شود و علاجی نخواهد داشت.

²تا وقتی که قدرت به دست اشخاص نیک باشد، مردم خوشحال هستند، ولی اگر قدرت به دست افراد بد افتد، مردم می نالند.

²When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

³پسر عاقل پدر خود را خوشحال می سازد، اما پسری که بدنبال زنان بدکار می رود، دارائی او را برباد می دهد.

³Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance.

⁴پادشاه عادل به کشور خود ثبات می بخشد، ولی آنکه رشوت می گیرد، مملکت خود را نابود می سازد.

⁴The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.

⁵شخص متملق با چاپلوسی به دوست خود صدمه می زند.

⁵A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.

⁶اشخاص بدکار در دام گناه خود گرفتار می شوند، اما شادکامی نصیب مردم راستکار می گردد.

⁶In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.

⁷شخص راستکار نسبت به فقرا با انصاف است، اما آدم بدکار به فکر آن ها نیست.

⁷The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it.

⁸شخص احمقی که دیگران را مسخره می کند، شهری را به آشوب می آورد، اما آدم دانا خشم را فرو می نشاند.

⁸Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.

⁹وقتی یک آدم عاقل با یک شخص احمق به محکمه می رود، مرد احمق خشمگین می شود و او را مسخره می کند و کار بجائی نمی رسد.

⁹If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.

¹⁰اشخاص خون آشام از افراد راستکار متنفرند و قصد جانشان را دارند.

¹⁰The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul.

¹¹آدم احمق بزودی خشم خود را ظاهر می سازد، اما شخص عاقل از خشم خود جلوگیری می کند.

¹¹A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.

¹²اگر حاکم به سخنان دروغ گوش بدهد، تمام خادمانش دروغگو می شوند.

¹²If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.

¹³فقیر و ثروتمند در یک چیز مثل هم هستند: خداوند به هر دوی آن ها چشم بینا داده است.

¹³The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes.

¹⁴پادشاهی که نسبت به مردم مسکین با انصاف باشد، سلطنتش همیشه پایدار می ماند.

¹⁴The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.

¹⁵برای تربیۀ کودکان چوب و‎ ‎تأديب لازم است، اگر او را آزاد گذاری و سرزنش نکنی، باعث شرمندگی مادر خود می شود.

¹⁵The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.

¹⁶وقتی اشخاص بدکار به قدرت می رسند، فساد زیاد می شود. اما مردم راستکار سقوط آن ها را بچشم خواهند دید.

¹⁶When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.

¹⁷فرزندت را تأدیب کن تا باعث خوشی و آرامش تو گردد.

¹⁷Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.

¹⁸مردمی که راهنمای شان خدا نباشد، سرکش می شوند، خوشا بحال قومی که از احکام خدا پیروی می کنند.

¹⁸Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

¹⁹خادمان تنها با نصیحت اصلاح نمی شوند، زیرا آن ها هرچند سخنان ترا بفهمند، اما به آن ها توجه نمی کنند.

¹⁹A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer.

²⁰شخصی که بدون فکر کردن و با عجله حرف می زند، از یک احمق هم بدتر است.

²⁰Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

²¹خادمی که آقایش او را از کودکی بناز پرورده باشد، سرانجام تمام دارائی آقای خود را غصب می کند.

²¹He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become his son at the length.

²²شخص تندخو نزاع برپا می کند و آدم بدخُلق فتنه انگیز است.

²²An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.

²³تکبر، انسان را به زمین می زند، اما فروتنی باعث سرفرازی می شود.

²³A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

²⁴کسی که با دزد همدست می شود، به جان خود دشمنی می کند، اگر در محکمه حقیقت را بگوید، مجازات خواهد شد و اگر حقیقت را نگوید، خدا او را لعنت می ‌کند.

²⁴Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not.

²⁵کسی که از انسان می ترسد در دام می افتد، اما هرکه بر خدا توکل می کند، در امان می ماند.

²⁵The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

²⁶بسیاری از مردم از حاکم انتظار لطف را دارند، اما داوری فقط به دست خداوند است.اشخاص راستکار از بدکاران نفرت دارند و بدکاران از مردم راستکار.

²⁶Many seek the ruler's favour; but every man's judgment cometh from the LORD.

²⁷اشخاص راستکار از بدکاران نفرت دارند و بدکاران از مردم راستکار.

²⁷An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.
