¹ای خداوند، پناهگاه ما در جمیع نسل ها تو بوده ای.

¹Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.

²پیش از آنکه کوهها به وجود آید و زمین و جهان را بیافرینی، از ازل تا به ابد تو خدا هستی.

²Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

³انسان را به خاک بر می گردانی، و می گویی ای بنی آدم رجوع نمائید.

³Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.

⁴هزار سال در نظر تو مثل دیروز که گذشته باشد و مانند قسمتی از شب است.

⁴For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

⁵تو به زندگی انسان دفعتاً خاتمه می دهی و عمر او مثل یک خواب کوتاه و مانند یک گیاهی زودگذر است.

⁵Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.

⁶صبحگاهان می شگفد و می روید، شامگاهان بریده و پژمرده می شود.

⁶In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.

⁷غضب تو ما را نابود می سازد و خشم تو به وحشت می اندازد.

⁷For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.

⁸چونکه گناهان ما را در نظر خود گذاشته ای و خطایای مخفی ما را در نور روی خویش.

⁸Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

⁹زیرا که تمام روزهای ما در خشم تو سپری شد و سالهای خود را مثل خیالی بسر برده ایم.

⁹For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.

¹⁰میعاد عمر ما هفتاد سال است و اگر تندرست و قوی باشیم ممکن است هشتاد سال زندگی کنیم، اما همه دوران زندگی ما آمیخته با رنج و زحمت است و بزودی به آخر می رسد و فنا می شویم.

¹⁰The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

¹¹کیست که شدت خشم تو را بداند؟ و کیست که غضب تو را بفهمد تا بترسد، چنانکه از تو می باید ترسید؟

¹¹Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.

¹²به ما بیاموز که روزهای عمر خود را بشماریم تا دلِ ما فهیم و دانا گردد.

¹²So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

¹³بیا ای خداوند! تا به کی؟ و بر بندگانت شفقت فرما.

¹³Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.

¹⁴صبحگاهان ما را از رحمت خود سیر کن تا در تمام روزهای زندگی خود شادمانی و خوشی نمائیم.

¹⁴O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

¹⁵به اندازۀ روزهائی که سختی کشیدیم و سالهائی که بدبختی را دیدیم، به ما خوشی عطا فرما.

¹⁵Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil.

¹⁶بگذار بندگانت کارهای تو را ببینند و فرزندان شان عظمت تو را.لطف و نیکویی خداوند، خدای ما بر ما باد و عمل دستهای ما را بر ما استوار ساز! عمل دستهای ما را استوار گردان!

¹⁶Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children.

¹⁷لطف و نیکویی خداوند، خدای ما بر ما باد و عمل دستهای ما را بر ما استوار ساز! عمل دستهای ما را استوار گردان!

¹⁷And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.
