Proverbs

9

1Wisdom hath built her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars;
1 Y mae doethineb wedi adeiladu ei thu375?, ac yn naddu ei saith golofn;
2she hath slaughtered her cattle, she hath mingled her wine, she hath also prepared her table;
2 y mae wedi paratoi ei chig a chymysgu ei gwin a hulio ei bwrdd.
3she hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the summits of the high places of the city,
3 Anfonodd allan ei llancesau, ac ar uchelfannau'r ddinas y mae'n galw,
4Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither. To him that is void of understanding, she saith,
4 "Dewch yma, bob un sy'n wirion." Y mae'n dweud wrth y rhai disynnwyr,
5Come, eat ye of my bread, and drink of the wine that I have mingled.
5 "Dewch, bwytewch gyda mi, ac yfwch y gwin a gymysgais.
6Forsake follies and live, and go in the way of intelligence.
6 Gadewch eich gwiriondeb, ichwi gael byw; rhodiwch yn ffordd deall."
7He that instructeth a scorner getteth to himself shame; and he that reproveth a wicked [man] [getteth] to himself a blot.
7 Dirmyg a gaiff yr un sy'n disgyblu gwatwarwr, a'i feio a gaiff yr un sy'n ceryddu'r drygionus.
8Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee; reprove a wise [man], and he will love thee.
8 Paid cheryddu gwatwarwr, rhag iddo dy gasu; cerydda'r doeth, ac fe'th gr di.
9Impart to a wise [man], and he will become yet wiser; teach a righteous [man], and he will increase learning.
9 Rho gyngor i'r doeth, ac fe 'n ddoethach; dysga'r cyfiawn, ac fe gynydda mewn dysg.
10The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom; and the knowledge of the Holy is intelligence.
10 Ofn yr ARGLWYDD yw dechrau doethineb, ac adnabod y Sanctaidd yw deall.
11For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and years of life shall be added to thee.
11 Oherwydd trwof fi y cynydda dy ddyddiau, ac yr ychwanegir blynyddoedd at dy fywyd.
12If thou art wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself; and if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.
12 Os wyt yn ddoeth, byddi ar dy elw; ond os wyt yn gwawdio, ti dy hun fydd yn dioddef.
13The foolish woman is clamorous; she is stupid, and knoweth nothing.
13 Y mae gwraig ffl yn benchwiban, yn ddiddeall, heb wybod dim.
14And she sitteth at the entry of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
14 Y mae'n eistedd wrth ddrws ei thu375?, ar fainc yn uchelfannau'r ddinas,
15to call passers-by who go right on their ways:
15 yn galw ar y rhai sy'n mynd heibio ac yn dilyn eu gorchwylion eu hunain:
16Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither. And to him that is void of understanding she saith,
16 "Dewch yma, bob un sy'n wirion." Y mae'n dweud wrth y rhai disynnwyr,
17Stolen waters are sweet, and the bread of secrecy is pleasant.
17 "Y mae du373?r lladrad yn felys, a bara wedi ei ddwyn yn flasus."
18But he knoweth not that the dead are there; [that] her guests are in the depths of Sheol.
18 Ond ni wyddant hwy mai meirwon yw'r rhai sydd yno, ac mai yn nyfnder Sheol y mae ei gwahoddedigion.
