¹Give ye thanks unto Jehovah, call upon his name; make known his acts among the peoples.

¹הודו ליהוה קראו בשמו הודיעו בעמים עלילותיו׃

²Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him; meditate upon all his wondrous works.

²שירו לו זמרו לו שיחו בכל נפלאותיו׃

³Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek Jehovah.

³התהללו בשם קדשו ישמח לב מבקשי יהוה׃

⁴Seek Jehovah and his strength, seek his face continually;

⁴דרשו יהוה ועזו בקשו פניו תמיד׃

⁵Remember his wondrous works which he hath done, his miracles and the judgments of his mouth:

⁵זכרו נפלאותיו אשר עשה מפתיו ומשפטי פיו׃

⁶Ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye sons of Jacob, his chosen ones.

⁶זרע אברהם עבדו בני יעקב בחיריו׃

⁷He, Jehovah, is our God; his judgments are in all the earth.

⁷הוא יהוה אלהינו בכל הארץ משפטיו׃

⁸He is ever mindful of his covenant, -- the word which he commanded to a thousand generations, --

⁸זכר לעולם בריתו דבר צוה לאלף דור׃

⁹Which he made with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac;

⁹אשר כרת את אברהם ושבועתו לישחק׃

¹⁰And he confirmed it unto Jacob for a statute, unto Israel for an everlasting covenant,

¹⁰ויעמידה ליעקב לחק לישראל ברית עולם׃

¹¹Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance;

¹¹לאמר לך אתן את ארץ כנען חבל נחלתכם׃

¹²When they were a few men in number, of small account, and strangers in it.

¹²בהיותם מתי מספר כמעט וגרים בה׃

¹³And they went from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people.

¹³ויתהלכו מגוי אל גוי מממלכה אל עם אחר׃

¹⁴He suffered no man to oppress them, and reproved kings for their sakes,

¹⁴לא הניח אדם לעשקם ויוכח עליהם מלכים׃

¹⁵[Saying,] Touch not mine anointed ones, and do my prophets no harm.

¹⁵אל תגעו במשיחי ולנביאי אל תרעו׃

¹⁶And he called for a famine upon the land; he broke the whole staff of bread.

¹⁶ויקרא רעב על הארץ כל מטה לחם שבר׃

¹⁷He sent a man before them: Joseph was sold for a bondman.

¹⁷שלח לפניהם איש לעבד נמכר יוסף׃

¹⁸They afflicted his feet with fetters; his soul came into irons;

¹⁸ענו בכבל רגליו ברזל באה נפשו׃

¹⁹Until the time when what he said came about: the word of Jehovah tried him.

¹⁹עד עת בא דברו אמרת יהוה צרפתהו׃

²⁰The king sent and loosed him -- the ruler of peoples -- and let him go free.

²⁰שלח מלך ויתירהו משל עמים ויפתחהו׃

²¹He made him lord of his house, and ruler over all his possessions:

²¹שמו אדון לביתו ומשל בכל קנינו׃

²²To bind his princes at his pleasure, and teach his elders wisdom.

²²לאסר שריו בנפשו וזקניו יחכם׃

²³And Israel came into Egypt, and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.

²³ויבא ישראל מצרים ויעקב גר בארץ חם׃

²⁴And he made his people exceeding fruitful, and made them mightier than their oppressors.

²⁴ויפר את עמו מאד ויעצמהו מצריו׃

²⁵He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal subtilly with his servants.

²⁵הפך לבם לשנא עמו להתנכל בעבדיו׃

²⁶He sent Moses his servant, [and] Aaron whom he had chosen:

²⁶שלח משה עבדו אהרן אשר בחר בו׃

²⁷They set his signs among them, and miracles in the land of Ham.

²⁷שמו בם דברי אתותיו ומפתים בארץ חם׃

²⁸He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they rebelled not against his word.

²⁸שלח חשך ויחשך ולא מרו את דבריו׃

²⁹He turned their waters into blood, and caused their fish to die.

²⁹הפך את מימיהם לדם וימת את דגתם׃

³⁰Their land swarmed with frogs, -- in the chambers of their kings.

³⁰שרץ ארצם צפרדעים בחדרי מלכיהם׃

³¹He spoke, and there came dog-flies, [and] gnats in all their borders.

³¹אמר ויבא ערב כנים בכל גבולם׃

³²He gave them hail for rain, [and] flaming fire in their land;

³²נתן גשמיהם ברד אש להבות בארצם׃

³³And he smote their vines and their fig-trees, and broke the trees of their borders.

³³ויך גפנם ותאנתם וישבר עץ גבולם׃

³⁴He spoke, and the locust came, and the cankerworm, even without number;

³⁴אמר ויבא ארבה וילק ואין מספר׃

³⁵And they devoured every herb in their land, and ate up the fruit of their ground.

³⁵ויאכל כל עשב בארצם ויאכל פרי אדמתם׃

³⁶And he smote every firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of all their vigour.

³⁶ויך כל בכור בארצם ראשית לכל אונם׃

³⁷And he brought them forth with silver and gold; and there was not one feeble among their tribes.

³⁷ויוציאם בכסף וזהב ואין בשבטיו כושל׃

³⁸Egypt rejoiced at their departure; for the fear of them had fallen upon them.

³⁸שמח מצרים בצאתם כי נפל פחדם עליהם׃

³⁹He spread a cloud for a covering, and fire to give light in the night.

³⁹פרש ענן למסך ואש להאיר לילה׃

⁴⁰They asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.

⁴⁰שאל ויבא שלו ולחם שמים ישביעם׃

⁴¹He opened the rock, and waters gushed forth; they ran in the dry places [like] a river.

⁴¹פתח צור ויזובו מים הלכו בציות נהר׃

⁴²For he remembered his holy word, [and] Abraham his servant;

⁴²כי זכר את דבר קדשו את אברהם עבדו׃

⁴³And he brought forth his people with gladness, his chosen with rejoicing;

⁴³ויוצא עמו בששון ברנה את בחיריו׃

⁴⁴And he gave them the lands of the nations, and they took possession of the labour of the peoples:

⁴⁴ויתן להם ארצות גוים ועמל לאמים יירשו׃

⁴⁵That they might keep his statutes, and observe his laws. Hallelujah!

⁴⁵בעבור ישמרו חקיו ותורתיו ינצרו הללו יה׃
