¹{To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David.} The heavens declare the glory of ùGod; and the expanse sheweth the work of his hands.

¹もろもろの天は神の栄光をあらわし、大空はみ手のわざをしめす。

²Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.

²この日は言葉をかの日につたえ、この夜は知識をかの夜につげる。

³There is no speech and there are no words, yet their voice is heard.

³話すことなく、語ることなく、その声も聞えないのに、

⁴Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their language to the extremity of the world. In them hath he set a tent for the sun,

⁴その響きは全地にあまねく、その言葉は世界のはてにまで及ぶ。神は日のために幕屋を天に設けられた。

⁵And he is as a bridegroom going forth from his chamber; he rejoiceth as a strong man to run the race.

⁵日は花婿がその祝のへやから出てくるように、また勇士が競い走るように、その道を喜び走る。

⁶His going forth is from the end of the heavens, and his circuit unto the ends of it; and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

⁶それは天のはてからのぼって、天のはてにまで、めぐって行く。その暖まりをこうむらないものはない。

⁷The law of Jehovah is perfect, restoring the soul; the testimony of Jehovah is sure, making wise the simple;

⁷主のおきては完全であって、魂を生きかえらせ、主のあかしは確かであって、無学な者を賢くする。

⁸The precepts of Jehovah are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of Jehovah is pure, enlightening the eyes;

⁸主のさとしは正しくて、心を喜ばせ、主の戒めはまじりなくて、眼を明らかにする。

⁹The fear of Jehovah is clean, enduring for ever; the judgments of Jehovah are truth, they are righteous altogether:

⁹主を恐れる道は清らかで、とこしえに絶えることがなく、主のさばきは真実であって、ことごとく正しい。

¹⁰They are more precious than gold, yea, than much fine gold; and sweeter than honey and the dropping of the honeycomb.

¹⁰これらは金よりも、多くの純金よりも慕わしく、また蜜よりも、蜂の巣のしたたりよりも甘い。

¹¹Moreover, by them is thy servant enlightened; in keeping them there is great reward.

¹¹あなたのしもべは、これらによって戒めをうける。これらを守れば、大いなる報いがある。

¹²Who understandeth [his] errors? Purify me from secret [faults].

¹²だれが自分のあやまちを知ることができましようか。どうか、わたしを隠れたとがから解き放ってください。

¹³Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous [sins]; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be perfect, and I shall be innocent from great transgression.

¹³また、あなたのしもべを引きとめて、故意の罪を犯させず、これに支配されることのないようにしてください。そうすれば、わたしはあやまちのない者となって、大いなるとがを免れることができるでしょう。わが岩、わがあがないぬしなる主よ、どうか、わたしの口の言葉と、心の思いがあなたの前に喜ばれますように。

¹⁴Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Jehovah, my rock, and my redeemer.
