¹{[A Psalm] of David.} Strive, O Jehovah, with them that strive with me; fight against them that fight against me:

¹主よ、わたしと争う者とあらそい、わたしと戦う者と戦ってください。

²Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help;

²盾と大盾とを執って、わたしを助けるために立ちあがってください。

³And draw out the spear, and stop [the way] against my pursuers: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.

³やりと投げやりとを抜いて、わたしに追い迫る者に立ちむかい、「わたしはおまえの救である」と、わたしに言ってください。

⁴Let them be put to shame and confounded that seek after my life; let them be turned backward and brought to confusion that devise my hurt:

⁴どうか、わたしの命を求める者をはずかしめ、いやしめ、わたしにむかって悪をたくらむ者を退け、あわてふためかせてください。

⁵Let them be as chaff before the wind, and let the angel of Jehovah drive [them] away;

⁵彼らを風の前のもみがらのようにし、主の使に彼らを追いやらせてください。

⁶Let their way be dark and slippery, and let the angel of Jehovah pursue them.

⁶彼らの道を暗く、なめらかにし、主の使に彼らを追い行かせてください。

⁷For without cause have they hidden for me their net [in] a pit; without cause they have digged [it] for my soul.

⁷彼らはゆえなくわたしのために網を隠し、ゆえなくわたしのために穴を掘ったからです。

⁸Let destruction come upon him unawares, and let his net which he hath hidden catch himself: for destruction let him fall therein.

⁸不意に滅びを彼らに臨ませ、みずから隠した網にとらえられ、彼らを滅びに陥らせてください。

⁹And my soul shall be joyful in Jehovah; it shall rejoice in his salvation.

⁹そのときわが魂は主によって喜び、その救をもって楽しむでしょう。

¹⁰All my bones shall say, Jehovah, who is like unto thee, who deliverest the afflicted from one stronger than he, yea, the afflicted and the needy from him that spoileth him!

¹⁰わたしの骨はことごとく言うでしょう、「主よ、だれかあなたにたぐうべき者がありましょう。あなたは弱い者を強い者から助け出し、弱い者と貧しい者を、かすめ奪う者から助け出される方です」と。

¹¹Unrighteous witnesses rise up; they lay to my charge things which I know not.

¹¹悪意のある証人が起って、わたしの知らない事をわたしに尋ねる。

¹²They reward me evil for good, [to] the bereavement of my soul.

¹²彼らは悪をもってわたしの善に報い、わが魂を寄るべなき者とした。

¹³But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth; I chastened my soul with fasting, and my prayer returned into mine own bosom:

¹³しかし、わたしは彼らが病んだとき、荒布をまとい、断食してわが身を苦しめた。わたしは胸にこうべをたれて祈った、

¹⁴I behaved myself as though [he had been] a friend, a brother to me; I bowed down in sadness, as one that mourneth [for] a mother.

¹⁴ちょうど、わが友、わが兄弟のために悲しんだかのように。わたしは母をいたむ者のように悲しみうなだれて歩きまわった。

¹⁵But at my halting they rejoiced, and gathered together: the slanderers gathered themselves together against me, and I knew [it] not; they did tear [me], and ceased not:

¹⁵しかし彼らはわたしのつまずくとき、喜びつどい、ともに集まってわたしを責めた。わたしの知らない他国の者はわたしをののしってやめなかった。

¹⁶With profane jesters for bread, they have gnashed their teeth against me.

¹⁶彼らはますます、けがす言葉をもってあざけり、わたしにむかって歯をかみならした。

¹⁷Lord, how long wilt thou look on? Rescue my soul from their destructions, my only one from the young lions.

¹⁷主よ、いつまであなたはながめておられますか、わたしを彼らの破壊から、わたしのいのちを若きししから救い出してください。

¹⁸I will give thee thanks in the great congregation; I will praise thee among much people.

¹⁸わたしは大いなるつどいの中で、あなたに感謝し、多くの民の中で、あなたをほめたたえるでしょう。

¹⁹Let not them that are wrongfully mine enemies rejoice over me; let them not wink with the eye that hate me without cause.

¹⁹偽ってわたしの敵となった者どものわたしについて喜ぶことを許さないでください。ゆえなく、わたしを憎む者どものたがいに目くばせすることを許さないでください。

²⁰For they speak not peace; and they devise deceitful words against the quiet in the land.

²⁰彼らは平和を語らず、国のうちに穏やかに住む者にむかって欺きの言葉をたくらむからです。

²¹And they opened their mouth wide against me; they said, Aha! aha! our eye hath seen [it].

²¹彼らはわたしにむかって口をあけひろげ、「あはぁ、あはぁ、われらの目はそれを見た」と言います。

²²Thou hast seen [it], Jehovah: keep not silence; O Lord, be not far from me.

²²主よ、あなたはこれを見られました。もださないでください。主よ、わたしに遠ざからないでください。

²³Stir up thyself, and awake for my right, for my cause, my God and Lord!

²³わが神、わが主よ、わがさばきのため、わが訴えのために奮いたち、目をさましてください。

²⁴Judge me, Jehovah my God, according to thy righteousness, and let them not rejoice over me.

²⁴わが神、主よ、あなたの義にしたがってわたしをさばき、わたしの事について彼らを喜ばせないでください。

²⁵Let them not say in their heart, Aha! so would we have it. Let them not say, We have swallowed him up.

²⁵彼らにその心のうちで、「あはぁ、われらの願ったことが達せられた」と言わせないでください。また彼らに「われらは彼を滅ぼしつくした」と言わせないでください。

²⁶Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine adversity; let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me.

²⁶わたしの災を喜ぶ者どもをともに恥じ、あわてふためかせてください。わたしにむかって誇りたかぶる者どもに恥と、はずかしめとを着せてください。

²⁷Let them exult and rejoice that delight in my righteousness; and let them say continually, Jehovah be magnified, who delighteth in the prosperity of his servant.

²⁷わたしの義を喜ぶ者をば喜びの声をあげて喜ばせ、「そのしもべの幸福を喜ばれる主は大いなるかな」とつねに言わせてください。わたしの舌はひねもすあなたの義と、あなたの誉とを語るでしょう。

²⁸And my tongue shall talk of thy righteousness, [and] of thy praise, all the day.
