¹{A Prayer of Moses, the man of God.} Lord, *thou* hast been our dwelling-place in all generations.

¹主よ、あなたは世々われらのすみかでいらせられる。

²Before the mountains were brought forth, and thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from eternity to eternity thou art ùGod.

²山がまだ生れず、あなたがまだ地と世界とを造られなかったとき、とこしえからとこしえまで、あなたは神でいらせられる。

³Thou makest [mortal] man to return to dust, and sayest, Return, children of men.

³あなたは人をちりに帰らせて言われます、「人の子よ、帰れ」と。

⁴For a thousand years, in thy sight, are as yesterday when it is past, and [as] a watch in the night.

⁴あなたの目の前には千年も過ぎ去ればきのうのごとく、夜の間のひと時のようです。

⁵Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are [as] a sleep: in the morning they are like grass [that] groweth up:

⁵あなたは人を大水のように流れ去らせられます。彼らはひと夜の夢のごとく、あしたにもえでる青草のようです。

⁶In the morning it flourisheth and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down and withereth.

⁶あしたにもえでて、栄えるが、夕べには、しおれて枯れるのです。

⁷For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy fury are we troubled.

⁷われらはあなたの怒りによって消えうせ、あなたの憤りによって滅び去るのです。

⁸Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret [sins] in the light of thy countenance.

⁸あなたはわれらの不義をみ前におき、われらの隠れた罪をみ顔の光のなかにおかれました。

⁹For all our days pass away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a [passing] thought.

⁹われらのすべての日は、あなたの怒りによって過ぎ去り、われらの年の尽きるのは、ひと息のようです。

¹⁰The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if, by reason of strength, they be fourscore years, yet their pride is labour and vanity, for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

¹⁰われらのよわいは七十年にすぎません。あるいは健やかであっても八十年でしょう。しかしその一生はただ、ほねおりと悩みであって、その過ぎゆくことは速く、われらは飛び去るのです。

¹¹Who knoweth the power of thine anger? and thy wrath according to the fear of thee?

¹¹だれがあなたの怒りの力を知るでしょうか。だれがあなたをおそれる恐れにしたがってあなたの憤りを知るでしょうか。

¹²So teach [us] to number our days, that we may acquire a wise heart.

¹²われらにおのが日を数えることを教えて、知恵の心を得させてください。

¹³Return, Jehovah: how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.

¹³主よ、み心を変えてください。いつまでお怒りになるのですか。あなたのしもべをあわれんでください。

¹⁴Satisfy us early with thy loving-kindness; that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

¹⁴あしたに、あなたのいつくしみをもってわれらを飽き足らせ、世を終るまで喜び楽しませてください。

¹⁵Make us glad according to the days [wherein] thou hast afflicted us, according to the years [wherein] we have seen evil.

¹⁵あなたがわれらを苦しめられた多くの日と、われらが災にあった多くの年とに比べて、われらを楽しませてください。

¹⁶Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy majesty unto their sons.

¹⁶あなたのみわざを、あなたのしもべらに、あなたの栄光を、その子らにあらわしてください。われらの神、主の恵みを、われらの上にくだし、われらの手のわざを、われらの上に栄えさせてください。われらの手のわざを栄えさせてください。

¹⁷And let the beauty of Jehovah our God be upon us; and establish thou the work of our hands upon us: yea, the work of our hands, establish thou it.

¹⁷われらの神、主の恵みを、われらの上にくだし、われらの手のわざを、われらの上に栄えさせてください。われらの手のわざを栄えさせてください。
