1James, bondman of God and of [the] Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which [are] in the dispersion, greeting.
1ദൈവത്തിന്റെയും കര്‍ത്താവായ യേശു ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെയും ദാസനായ യാക്കോബ് എഴുതുന്നതുചിതറിപ്പാര്‍ക്കുംന്ന പന്ത്രണ്ടു ഗോത്രങ്ങള്‍ക്കും വന്ദനം.
2Count it all joy, my brethren, when ye fall into various temptations,
2എന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങള്‍ വിവിധപരീക്ഷകളില്‍ അകപ്പെടുമ്പോള്‍
3knowing that the proving of your faith works endurance.
3നിങ്ങളുടെ വിശ്വാസത്തിന്റെ പരിശോധന സ്ഥിരത ഉളവാക്കുന്നു എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞു അതു അശേഷം സന്തോഷം എന്നു എണ്ണുവിന്‍ .
4But let endurance have [its] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
4എന്നാല്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ ഒന്നിലും കുറവില്ലാതെ തികഞ്ഞവരും സമ്പൂര്‍ണ്ണരും ആകേണ്ടതിന്നു സ്ഥിരതെക്കു തികഞ്ഞ പ്രവൃത്തി ഉണ്ടാകട്ടെ.
5But if any one of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all freely and reproaches not, and it shall be given to him:
5നിങ്ങളില്‍ ഒരുത്തന്നു ജ്ഞാനം കുറവാകുന്നു എങ്കില്‍ ഭര്‍ത്സിക്കാതെ എല്ലാവര്‍ക്കും ഔദാര്‍യ്യമായി കൊടുക്കുന്നവനായ ദൈവത്തോടു യാചിക്കട്ടെ; അപ്പോള്‍ അവന്നു ലഭിക്കും.
6but let him ask in faith, nothing doubting. For he that doubts is like a wave of the sea driven by the wind and tossed about;
6എന്നാല്‍ അവന്‍ ഒന്നും സംശയിക്കാതെ വിശ്വാസത്തോടെ യാചിക്കേണംസംശയിക്കുന്നവന്‍ കാറ്റടിച്ചു അലയുന്ന കടല്‍ത്തിരെക്കു സമന്‍ .
7for let not that man think that he shall receive anything from the Lord;
7ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള മനുഷ്യന്‍ കര്‍ത്താവിങ്കല്‍നിന്നു വല്ലതും ലഭിക്കും എന്നു നിരൂപിക്കരുതു.
8[he is] a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
8ഇരുമനസ്സുള്ള മനുഷ്യന്‍ തന്റെ വഴികളില്‍ ഒക്കെയും അസ്ഥിരന്‍ ആകുന്നു.
9But let the brother of low degree glory in his elevation,
9എന്നാല്‍ എളിയ സഹോദരന്‍ തന്റെ ഉയര്‍ച്ചയിലും
10and the rich in his humiliation, because as [the] grass's flower he will pass away.
10ധനവനോ പുല്ലിന്റെ പൂപോലെ ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നവനാകയാല്‍ തന്റെ എളിമയിലും പ്രശംസിക്കട്ടെ.
11For the sun has risen with its burning heat, and has withered the grass, and its flower has fallen, and the comeliness of its look has perished: thus the rich also shall wither in his goings.
11സൂര്‍യ്യന്‍ ഉഷ്ണക്കാറ്റോടെ ഉദിച്ചിട്ടു പുല്ലു ഉണങ്ങി പൂവു തീര്‍ന്നു അതിന്റെ രൂപഭംഗി കെട്ടുപോകുന്നു. അതുപോലെ ധനവാനും തന്റെ പ്രയത്നങ്ങളില്‍ വാടിപോകും.
12Blessed [is the] man who endures temptation; for, having been proved, he shall receive the crown of life, which He has promised to them that love him.
12പരീക്ഷ സഹിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യന്‍ ഭാഗ്യവാന്‍ ; അവന്‍ കൊള്ളാകുന്നവനായി തെളിഞ്ഞ ശേഷം കര്‍ത്താവു തന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവര്‍ക്കും വാഗ്ദത്തം ചെയ്ത ജീവകിരീടം പ്രാപിക്കും.
13Let no man, being tempted, say, I am tempted of God. For God cannot be tempted by evil things, and himself tempts no one.
13പരീക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടുമ്പോള്‍ ഞാന്‍ ദൈവത്താല്‍ പരീക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു എന്നു ആരും പറയരുതു. ദൈവം ദോഷങ്ങളാല്‍ പരീക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടാത്തവന്‍ ആകുന്നു; താന്‍ ആരെയും പരീക്ഷിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.
14But every one is tempted, drawn away, and enticed by his own lust;
14ഔരോരുത്തന്‍ പരീക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്നതു സ്വന്തമോഹത്താല്‍ ആകര്‍ഷിച്ചു വശീകരിക്കപ്പെടുകയാല്‍ ആകുന്നു.
15then lust, having conceived, gives birth to sin; but sin fully completed brings forth death.
15മോഹം ഗര്‍ഭം ധരിച്ചു പാപത്തെ പ്രസവിക്കുന്നു; പാപം മുഴുത്തിട്ടു മരണത്തെ പെറുന്നു.
16Do not err, my beloved brethren.
16എന്റെ പ്രിയസഹോദരന്മാരേ, വഞ്ചിക്കപ്പെടരുതു.
17Every good gift and every perfect gift comes down from above, from the Father of lights, with whom is no variation nor shadow of turning.
17എല്ലാ നല്ല ദാനവും തികഞ്ഞ വരം ഒക്കെയും ഉയരത്തില്‍നിന്നു വെളിച്ചങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവിങ്കല്‍ നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവരുന്നു. അവന്നു വികാരമോ ഗതിഭേദത്താലുള്ള ആഛാദനമോ ഇല്ല.
18According to his own will begat he us by the word of truth, that we should be a certain first-fruits of *his* creatures.
18നാം അവന്റെ സൃഷ്ടികളില്‍ ഒരുവിധം ആദ്യഫലമാകേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന്‍ തന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം ഹേതുവായി സത്യത്തിന്റെ വചനത്താല്‍ നമ്മെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
19So that, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;
19പ്രിയസഹോദരന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങള്‍ അതു അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ. എന്നാല്‍ ഏതു മനുഷ്യനും കേള്‍പ്പാന്‍ വേഗതയും പറവാന്‍ താമസവും കോപത്തിന്നു താമസവുമുള്ളവന്‍ ആയിരിക്കട്ടെ.
20for man's wrath does not work God's righteousness.
20മനുഷ്യന്റെ കോപം ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നീതിയെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നില്ല.
21Wherefore, laying aside all filthiness and abounding of wickedness, accept with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
21ആകയാല്‍ എല്ലാ അഴുക്കും ദുഷ്ടതയുടെ ആധിക്യവും വിട്ടു നിങ്ങളുടെ ആത്മാക്കളെ രക്ഷിപ്പാന്‍ ശക്തിയുള്ളതും ഉള്‍നട്ടതുമായ വചനം സൌമ്യതയോടെ കൈക്കൊള്‍വിന്‍ .
22But be ye doers of [the] word and not hearers only, beguiling yourselves.
22എങ്കിലും വചനം കേള്‍ക്ക മാത്രം ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടു തങ്ങളെ തന്നേ ചതിക്കാതെ അതിനെ ചെയ്യുന്നവരായും ഇരിപ്പിന്‍ .
23For if any man be a hearer of [the] word and not a doer, *he* is like to a man considering his natural face in a mirror:
23ഒരുത്തന്‍ വചനം കേള്‍ക്കുന്നവന്‍ എങ്കിലും ചെയ്യാത്തവനായിരുന്നാല്‍ അവന്‍ തന്റെ സ്വാഭാവിക മുഖം കണ്ണാടിയില്‍ നോക്കുന്ന ആളോടു ഒക്കുന്നു.
24for he has considered himself and is gone away, and straightway he has forgotten what he was like.
24അവന്‍ തന്നെത്താന്‍ കണ്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു താന്‍ ഇന്ന രൂപം ആയിരുന്നു എന്നു ഉടനെ മറന്നുപോകുന്നു.
25But *he* that fixes his view on [the] perfect law, that of liberty, and abides in [it], being not a forgetful hearer but a doer of [the] work, *he* shall be blessed in his doing.
25സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിന്റെ തികഞ്ഞ ന്യായപ്രമാണം ഉറ്റുനോക്കി അതില്‍ നിലനിലക്കുന്നവനോ കേട്ടു മറക്കുന്നവനല്ല, പ്രവൃത്തി ചെയ്യുന്നവനായി താന്‍ ചെയ്യുന്നതില്‍ ഭാഗ്യവാന്‍ ആകും.
26If any one think himself to be religious, not bridling his tongue, but deceiving his heart, this man's religion is vain.
26നിങ്ങളില്‍ ഒരുവന്‍ തന്റെ നാവിന്നു കടിഞ്ഞാണിടാതെ തന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ വഞ്ചിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു താന്‍ ഭക്തന്‍ എന്നു നിരൂപിച്ചാല്‍ അവന്റെ ഭക്തി വ്യര്‍ത്ഥം അത്രേ.
27Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
27പിതാവായ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ശുദ്ധവും നിര്‍മ്മലവുമായുള്ള ഭക്തിയോഅനാഥരെയും വിധവമാരെയും അവരുടെ സങ്കടത്തില്‍ ചെന്നു കാണുന്നതും ലോകത്താലുള്ള കളങ്കം പറ്റാതവണ്ണം തന്നെത്താന്‍ കാത്തുകൊള്ളുന്നതും ആകുന്നു.
