¹{Of David. Instruction.} Blessed is he [whose] transgression is forgiven, [whose] sin is covered!

¹Av David; en læresalme. Salig er den hvis overtredelse er forlatt, hvis synd er skjult.

²Blessed is the man unto whom Jehovah reckoneth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile!

²Salig er det menneske som Herren ikke tilregner misgjerning, og i hvis ånd det ikke er svik.

³When I kept silence, my bones waxed old, through my groaning all the day long.

³Da jeg tidde, blev mine ben borttæret, idet jeg stønnet hele dagen.

⁴For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me; my moisture was turned into the drought of summer. Selah.

⁴For dag og natt lå din hånd tungt på mig, min livssaft svant som ved sommerens tørke. Sela.

⁵I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity I covered not; I said, I will confess my transgressions unto Jehovah, and *thou* forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

⁵Jeg bekjente min synd for dig og skjulte ikke min skyld, jeg sa: Jeg vil bekjenne mine misgjerninger for Herren. Og du tok bort min syndeskyld. Sela.

⁶For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee at a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they will not reach him.

⁶Derfor bede hver from til dig den tid du er å finne! Visselig, når store vannflommer kommer, til ham skal de ikke nå.

⁷Thou art a hiding-place for me; thou preservest me from trouble; thou dost encompass me with songs of deliverance. Selah.

⁷Du er mitt skjul, du vokter mig for trengsel; med frelses jubel omgir du mig. Sela.

⁸I will instruct thee and teach thee the way in which thou shalt go; I will counsel [thee] with mine eye upon thee.

⁸Jeg vil lære dig og vise dig den vei du skal vandre; jeg vil gi dig råd med mitt øie.

⁹Be ye not as a horse, as a mule, which have no understanding: whose trappings must be bit and bridle, for restraint, or they will not come unto thee.

⁹Vær ikke som hest og muldyr, som ikke har forstand! Deres smykke er tømme og bissel til å tvinge dem med; de vil ikke komme nær til dig.

¹⁰Many sorrows hath the wicked; but he that confideth in Jehovah, loving-kindness shall encompass him.

¹⁰Den ugudelige har mange piner, men den som setter sin lit til Herren, ham omgir han med miskunnhet.

¹¹Rejoice in Jehovah, and be glad, ye righteous; and shout for joy, all ye upright in heart.

¹¹Gled eder i Herren og fryd eder, I rettferdige, og juble, alle I opriktige av hjertet!
