1Exult, ye righteous, in Jehovah: praise is comely for the upright.
1Juble, I rettferdige, i Herren! For de opriktige sømmer sig lovsang.
2Give thanks unto Jehovah with the harp; sing psalms unto him with the ten-stringed lute.
2Pris Herren med citar, lovsyng ham til tistrenget harpe!
3Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud sound.
3Syng en ny sang for ham, spill liflig med frydesang!
4For the word of Jehovah is right, and all his work is in faithfulness.
4For Herrens ord er sant, og all hans gjerning er trofast.
5He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the loving-kindness of Jehovah.
5Han elsker rettferdighet og rett; jorden er full av Herrens miskunnhet.
6By the word of Jehovah were the heavens made, and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
6Himlene er skapt ved Herrens ord, og all deres hær ved hans munns ånde.
7He gathereth the waters of the sea together as a heap; he layeth up the deeps in storehouses.
7Han samler havets vann som en dynge, han legger de dype vann i forrådshus.
8Let all the earth fear Jehovah; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
8All jorden frykte for Herren, for ham beve alle de som bor på jorderike!
9For *he* spoke, and it was [done]; *he* commanded, and it stood fast.
9For han talte, og det skjedde; han bød, og det stod der.
10Jehovah frustrateth the counsel of the nations; he maketh the thoughts of the peoples of none effect.
10Herren omstøter hedningenes råd, han gjør folkenes tanker til intet.
11The counsel of Jehovah standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart from generation to generation.
11Herrens råd står fast evindelig, hans hjertes tanker fra slekt til slekt.
12Blessed is the nation whose God is Jehovah, the people that he hath chosen for his inheritance!
12Salig er det folk hvis Gud Herren er, det folk han har utvalgt til sin arv.
13Jehovah looketh from the heavens; he beholdeth all the sons of men:
13Fra himmelen skuer Herren ned han ser alle menneskenes barn.
14From the place of his habitation he looketh forth upon all the inhabitants of the earth;
14Fra det sted hvor han bor, ser han ned til alle dem som bor på jorden,
15He who fashioneth the hearts of them all, who considereth all their works.
15han som har skapt deres hjerter alle sammen, han som gir akt på alle deres gjerninger.
16The king is not saved by the multitude of [his] forces; a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.
16En konge frelses ikke ved sin store makt, en helt reddes ikke ved sin store kraft.
17The horse is a vain thing for safety; neither doth he deliver by his great power.
17Hesten er ikke å stole på til frelse, og med sin store styrke redder den ikke.
18Behold, the eye of Jehovah is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his loving-kindness,
18Se, Herrens øie ser til dem som frykter ham, som bier på hans miskunnhet,
19To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
19for å utfri deres sjel fra døden og holde dem i live i hungersnød.
20Our soul waiteth for Jehovah: he is our help and our shield.
20Vår sjel bier på Herren; han er vår hjelp og vårt skjold.
21For in him shall our heart rejoice, because we have confided in his holy name.
21For i ham fryder vårt hjerte sig, fordi vi setter vår lit til hans hellige navn.
22Let thy loving-kindness, O Jehovah, be upon us, according as we have hoped in thee.
22Din miskunnhet, Herre, være over oss, således som vi håper på dig!
