1And there was a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brethren the Jews.
1Huchih laiin a unaute uh Judate dema nakpi taka kikouna mite leh a jite uh akipanin a hongomta a.
2And there were that said, We, our sons and our daughters, are many, and we must procure corn that we may eat and live.
2Kou, ka tapate leh ka tanute uh, tampi ka hi ua: ka nek ua ka hin theihna ding un, buhlehbal honpia un, chi lah a om ngal ua.
3And there were that said, We have had to pledge our fields, and our vineyards, and our houses, that we might procure corn in the dearth.
3Ka loute uh, ka grephuante uh, ka inte uh ka juak uhi: kial jiakin, buhlehbal honpia un, chi kuate hiam leng a om uhi.
4And there were that said, We have borrowed money for the king's tribute upon our fields and vineyards;
4Ka loute uh leh ka grephuante ua dit dingin kumpipa siah dingin sum ka leitawi uh, chi mi khenkhatte leng a om ua.
5yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children; and behold, we must bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought into bondage [already]; neither is it in the power of our hand [to redeem them], for other men have our fields and our vineyards.
5Hinapiin ka sa uh ka unaute uh sa bang ahi a, ka tate uh lah amau tate bang: huan, ngai un, ka tapate uh leh ka tanute uh sikhate hi dingin tanna ah ka pi ua, ka tanute uh laka a khente tannaa piin a omkhin manhial uhi: panpih theihna ka nei het kei ua; mi dangten lah ka loute uh leh ka grephuante uh a nei ngal ua, chiin.
6And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words.
6Huchia a kikouna uleh hiai thute ka jakin ka heh mahmah hi.
7And I consulted with myself; and I remonstrated with the nobles and the rulers, and said to them, Ye exact usury, every one of his brother! And I set a great assembly against them.
7Huchih laiin ka kingaihtuaha, miliante leh vaihawmmite ka kiselpiha, a kiang uah, Mi chihin a unau lakah a pung na phut uh, ka chi a. Huchiin amaute demna kikhawmpi thupi ka nei a.
8And I said to them, We, according to our ability, have redeemed our brethren the Jews, who were sold to the nations; and will ye even sell your brethren? or shall they be sold unto us? And they were silent and found no answer.
8huchiin a kiang uah, Khovelmite kianga juaka omsa, i unau Judate i theih bang un i tanta ua; huan nou na unaute uh juak un, i lak ua khota om ding uh ahi maw? Ka chi a. Huan amau a dai dide ua, thu khat leng a neikei uh.
9And I said, The thing that ye do is not good. Ought ye not to walk in the fear of our God, so as not to be the reproach of the nations our enemies?
9Na thilhih uh a hoih kei: i melmate khovelmiten hon simmohna jiak un, i Pathian laudansiama na om ding uh hi lou hia? Ka chi behlapa.
10I also, my brethren and my servants, we might exact usury of them, money and corn. I pray you, let us leave off this usury.
10Huchibangmahin, ka unaute leh ka sikhate leh ken amau kiangah sum leh buhlehbal ka leitawi sak uhi. Ka honngen ahi, hiai pung om sak kei ni.
11Restore, I pray you, to them this very day their fields, their vineyards, their olive-gardens, and their houses, also the hundredth [part] of the money, and of the corn, the wine and the oil, that ye have exacted of them.
11Pe nawn un, ka honngen ahi, a kiang uah, tuni mahmahin a loute uh, a grephuante, a oliv huante u leh a inte uh, a sum uh a seh jana leng, buhlehbal, uain, leh sathau amau akipan na phut khiak uh.
12And they said, We will restore [them], and will require nothing of them; so will we do, as thou hast said. And I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise.
12Huan amau, Ka pe nawn ding ua, amau akipan bangmah ka ngiat kei ding uh; huchibangin ka hih ding ua, na chih bang mamahin, a chi ua. Huan ken siampute ka sama, a kichiamna uh ka laa, huchia hiai thuchiam banga a hihna ding un.
13Also I shook my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house and from his earnings, that performeth not this promise: even thus be he shaken out and emptied! And all the congregation said, Amen! And they praised Jehovah. And the people did according to this promise.
13Ken leng ka pheipi ka vuanga, Hiai thuchiam bawl lou peuhmah, a in akipan, a nasepna akipan Pathianin hichibangin vuang hen; hichibang taka vuan khiak ahi dinga, a hawm ding, ka chi a. Huan khawmpite tengtengin, Amen, TOUPA phatin om hen, a chi uh. Huchiin miten hiai thuchiam dungjuiin a hihta uhi.
14Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even to the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes the king, twelve years, I and my brethren have not eaten the bread of the governor.
14Huailouin Juda gama a ukpipa ding ua seha ka om laia kipan, kumpipa Artaksarsi kum sawmnih akipan kum sawmthum leh nih chiang, huai bel kum sawm leh nih ahia, kei leh ka unauten ukpipa tanghou ka ne nai kei uh.
15But the former governors that were before me had been chargeable to the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, besides forty shekels of silver: even their servants bore rule over the people. But I did not so, because of the fear of God.
15Himahleh kei maa ukpipa masate mite tunga mohsak theih ahi ua, amau akipanin tanghou leh uain a la uh, dangka sekel sawmli sim louin; ahi, a sikhate uh nangawnin mite tungah vai a hawm uhi: himahleh ken huchibangin ka hih keia, Pathian kihtakna jiakin.
16Yea, also I applied myself to this work of the wall, and we bought no fields; and all my servants were gathered thither for the work.
16A hi, Huailou leng hiai kulhbang nasepna ah ka pang nilouhlouha, gam himhim leng i lei keiuh: huan ka sikhate tengteng huailamah nasepna ah kaihkhawmin a om uh.
17And there were at my table a hundred and fifty of the Jews and the rulers, besides those that came to us from among the nations that were about us.
17Huaibanah ka dohkan ah Judate leh vaihawmmite laka mi ja leh sawmnga, i kim i vel ua om khovelmite lak akipana i kiang ua hongpaite chih louh, a om uh.
18And that which was prepared daily was one ox [and] six choice sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days all sorts of wine in abundance. Yet for all this I demanded not the bread of the governor; for the service was heavy upon this people.
18Huan ni khat adinga bawlkholhsa bawngtal khat leh belam hoihhoih guk ahi ua; vasate leng kei adia bawlkhawlsain a om ua, huan ni sawm sunga khatvei uain chi chih akipan koih hoih: hinapiin hiai mite tunga tanna a gik jiakin, ukpipa tanghou hiaite tengteng jiakin ka phut kei hi.Aw ka Pathian, hoihna dingin, kei lam hontheigigein, hiai mite adia ka hih tengteng.
19Remember for me, my God, for good, all that I have done for this people.
19Aw ka Pathian, hoihna dingin, kei lam hontheigigein, hiai mite adia ka hih tengteng.
