¹{An instruction. Of Asaph.} Give ear, O my people, to my law; incline your ears to the words of my mouth.

¹Ka mite aw, ka dan thu-ah bil nadoh unla: ka kama thute ah na bil uh hondoh un.

²I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter riddles from of old,

²Gentehna thuin ka kamka dinga: nidanglaia thugil gente ka gen khe ding:

³Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us:

³Huaite i bil un i ja ua, i lungsimin leng I thei uhi, a piputen leng a honhilh uhi.

⁴We will not hide [them] from their sons, shewing forth to the generation to come the praises of Jehovah, and his strength, and his marvellous works which he hath done.

⁴Huaite tuh a tate uh lakah i im kei ding ua, khangthak hongom ding kiangah TOUPA phatna thu leh, a hatdan leh a thillamdang pipi hih dante I hilh zo ding uhi.

⁵For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children;

⁵Jakobte laka thutheihsak tuh a hihkipa, Israelte lakah dan a sepa, huaite tuh i pipute kiangah thupiakin a piaa, amau huai thu tuh a tate u kianga a theihsak ding un:

⁶That the generation to come might know [them], the children that should be born; that they might rise up and tell [them] to their children,

⁶Khangthak hongom ding naupang hongpiang dingten, a theihtheihna ding uh, huaite tuh a thou ua, a thou ua, a tate u kianga a hilh sawn jel ding un:

⁷And that they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of ùGod, but observe his commandments;

⁷A lametna uh Pathiana a a koih theih ua, Pathian thilhihte a mangngilh louhna ding ua, a thupiakte a zon jawkna ding un:

⁸And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that prepared not their heart, and whose spirit was not stedfast with ùGod.

⁸Leh, a pipute bang ua, suan genhak tak leh helhat suan lungtang bawl diklou, Pathian laka lungsim ginomlou pua a om louhna ding un.

⁹The sons of Ephraim, armed bowmen, turned back in the day of battle.

⁹Ephraim suante galthuama kithuama, thalpeu tawiin, kisual niin a taikek ua:

¹⁰They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;

¹⁰Pathian thukhun a jui kei ua, a dana om leng a ut kei ua:

¹¹And forgot his doings, and his marvellous works which he had shewn them.

¹¹A thilhihte a mangngilh ua, a thil lamdang hih a muhsakte toh.

¹²In the sight of their fathers had he done wonders, in the land of Egypt, the field of Zoan.

¹²A pipute uh mitmuhah thillamdang pipite ahih jela. Aigupta gamah Zoan pawnah.

¹³He clave the sea, and caused them to pass through; and made the waters to stand as a heap;

¹³Tuipi a khen hoka, amau a galkaisaka: tuite tuh bangkhat koih khawm venvon bangin a khawlsak meuhmouh hi.

¹⁴And he led them with a cloud in the daytime, and all the night with the light of fire.

¹⁴Sun chiangin meiin a pi a, jan khuain mei vakin leng a pipi hi.

¹⁵He clave rocks in the wilderness, and gave [them] drink as out of the depths, abundantly;

¹⁵Gamdai ah suangpite a kitam saka, tui thukpi akipan bang maiin dawnding tampi a pia hi.

¹⁶And he brought streams out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.

¹⁶Suangpi akipanin luite a pawt khe saka, tuite luipi bangin a luang khe sak hi.

¹⁷Yet they still went on sinning against him, provoking the Most High in the desert;

¹⁷Huchi pipiin leng a tungah thil a hihkhial lailai ua, gam keu ah Tungnungpen tungah a hel uhi.

¹⁸And they tempted ùGod in their heart, by asking meat for their lust;

¹⁸A gongthak uh hihdamna dinga anek ding uh ngenin a lungtang un Pathian a zeet uhi.

¹⁹And they spoke against God: they said, Is ùGod able to prepare a table in the wilderness?

¹⁹Ahi, Pathian kalhin thu a gen ua; Gamdai ah Pathianin dohkan a bawlkhol thei diam maw?

²⁰Behold, he smote the rock, and waters gushed out, and streams overflowed; is he able to give bread also, or provide flesh for his people?

²⁰Ngaiin, suangpi a sat a, tuite khawng a hongkikhoh khiaa, luite tuh a piau ah a dimleta; an leng a pe thei nalai diam maw? A mite adingin sa a bawlkhol diam maw? A chi ua.

²¹Therefore Jehovah heard, and was wroth; and fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also went up against Israel:

²¹Huchiin TOUPAN a na jaa, a hehta a: Jakobte tungah mei a hongkuang kheta a, Israelte tungah hehna hongsuakta hi;

²²Because they believed not in God, and confided not in his salvation;

²²Pathian a gingta kei ua, a hotdamna leng a muan louh jiak un.

²³Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and had opened the doors of the heavens,

²³Himahleh tunglam van dumte thu a pia a, van kongkhakte a honsaka:

²⁴And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them the corn of the heavens.

²⁴A nek ding un manna a tunguah a zu saka, van buh tuh a kiang uah a pia hi.

²⁵Man did eat the bread of the mighty; he sent them provision to the full.

²⁵Mihingten angel ann a ne ua: vahna khopin ann a honpia a.

²⁶He caused the east wind to rise in the heavens, and by his strength he brought the south wind;

²⁶Suahlam huih van ah a nungsaka: a thilhihtheihnain sim huih a nung sak hi.

²⁷And he rained flesh upon them as dust, and feathered fowl as the sand of the seas,

²⁷Sa tuh leivui zah khawng tak a tunguah a zusaka, vasa kha nei tuipi-a piaunel zah tak:

²⁸And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations:

²⁸A giahna mun tak uah a ke saka, a omna buk kim khawng uah.

²⁹And they did eat, and were well filled; for that they lusted after, he brought to them.

²⁹Huchiin a ne ua, a vah ngial ua; a lunggulh uh a kiang uah a pia hi.

³⁰They were not alienated from their lust, their meat was yet in their mouths,

³⁰A gongthakna uh a dai naikei a, a an uh a kam uah a om laia,

³¹When the anger of God went up against them; and he slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel.

³¹Huchih laitakin Pathian hehna tuh a tunguah a tunga, a mi hoihhoihte uh khenkhat a thata, Israel tangvalte a sat puk helhhulh hi.

³²For all this, they sinned still, and believed not in his marvellous works;

³²Huchi piin leng thil a hihkhial lailai ua, thillamdang hihte a gingta tuan kei uh,

³³And he consumed their days in vanity, and their years in terror.

³³Huaijiakin a damsung nite uh bangmahlou phetin a hihmangsaka, a damsung kumte uh launain a hihmansak lai hi.

³⁴When he slew them, then they sought him, and returned and sought early after ùGod;

³⁴Amaute a thah chiangin amah a zong ua: a kik nawn ua, jingsangpiin Pathian a zonguhi.

³⁵And they remembered that God was their rock, and ùGod, the Most High, their redeemer.

³⁵Pathian tuh a suangpi uh ahi chih leh Pathian Tungnungpen a tanpa uh ahi chih a thei khe jel uhi.

³⁶But they flattered him with their mouth, and lied unto him with their tongue;

³⁶Himahleh amah a kam un achiamnuih phat ua, a lei un a kiangah juauthu a gen uhi.

³⁷For their heart was not firm toward him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant.

³⁷A lungtang uh amah lakah a dik ngal keia, a thukhun ah lah a ginom sam kei uh.

³⁸But he was merciful: he forgave the iniquity, and destroyed [them] not; but many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his fury:

³⁸Himahleh, amah bel lainatnaa dim a hih jiakin a thulimlouhna uh a ngaidama, amau a hihmang kei hi. ahi, tamvei pi a hehna a la kika. a thangpaihna a vekin a tokthou nuam kei jel hi.

³⁹And he remembered that they were flesh, a breath that passeth away and cometh not again.

³⁹Sa leltak a hih uh a theigige a: huih, kik nawnlou dinga nung mang jel bangin.

⁴⁰How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!

⁴⁰Gamdai ah a tungah hel munin, gam keu ah amah hihlungkham mun hina tel u e!

⁴¹And they turned again and tempted ùGod, and grieved the Holy One of Israel.

⁴¹A kihei kik nawn un Pathian a zeet ua, Israelte mi siangthou a hihvui naknak uhi.

⁴²They remembered not his hand, the day when he delivered them from the oppressor,

⁴²A khut a theigige kei ua, melma laka a humbit ni a theigige sam kei uhi.

⁴³How he set his signs in Egypt, and his miracles in the field of Zoan;

⁴³Huchi-a Aigupta gama achiamtehnate a koiha, Zoan pawnah a thillamdang hihte leng a koiha;

⁴⁴And turned their rivers into blood, and their streams, that they could not drink;

⁴⁴A luipi uh sisan a suaksaka, a luite uh leng sisan a suaksak hi, huchiin a dawn theita kei uhi.

⁴⁵He sent dog-flies among them, which devoured them, and frogs, which destroyed them;

⁴⁵A lak uah thou tampi a sawla, huaiin amau a ne khina; ukengte leng a sawla, huaiin amau a hihmangta hi.

⁴⁶And he gave their increase unto the caterpillar, and their labour unto the locust;

⁴⁶A thil poute u leng lung kiangah a piaa, a sepgim gah uh khaupe kiangah a pia hi.

⁴⁷He killed their vines with hail, and their sycamore trees with hail-stones;

⁴⁷A grep guite uh gialin a hihsia a. a theipi kungte u leng vukin a hihsia hi.

⁴⁸And he delivered up their cattle to the hail, and their flocks to thunderbolts.

⁴⁸A ganta u leng gial kiangah a pia a, a ganhonte uh kek sa velvol kiangah a pia hi.

⁴⁹He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and distress, -- a mission of angels of woes.

⁴⁹A hehna thupi tak a tunguah a khia a, thangpaihna te, lunghihlouhna mahmahte, mangbatna te, gilou angel honte,

⁵⁰He made a way for his anger; he spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence;

⁵⁰A hehna adingin lam a bawlsaka’a hinna uh sihna lakah a humbit keia, a hinna uh hi kiangah a pezota hi.

⁵¹And he smote all the firstborn in Egypt, the first-fruits of their vigour in the tents of Ham.

⁵¹Aigupta gama ta chil om tengteng a hihluma, Ham puanintea a hatna gah masa pente uh.

⁵²And he made his own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock;

⁵²Himahleh amah mite tuh belam bangin a pi khia a, ganhon bangin gamdai ah a pi hi.

⁵³And he led them safely, so that they were without fear; and the sea covered their enemies.

⁵³Bit takin a pi a, huchiin bangmah a lau kei ua: himahleh tuipiin a melmate uh a khuh khinta hi.

⁵⁴And he brought them to his holy border, this mountain, which his right hand purchased;

⁵⁴Huan, a mun siangthou gamgi a pi tunga, hiai tang, a khut taklama a lei.

⁵⁵And he drove out the nations before them, and allotted them for an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.

⁵⁵Nam chih a ma uah a delh khia a, amau khaua tehin gouluah dingin a hawma, a puaninte uah Israel namte a omsakta ahi.

⁵⁶But they tempted and provoked God, the Most High, and kept not his testimonies,

⁵⁶Himahleh, Pathian Tungnungpen tuh a zeet ua, a tungah a hel ua, a thutheihsakte lah a jui ngal kei uhi.

⁵⁷And they drew back and dealt treacherously like their fathers: they turned like a deceitful bow.

⁵⁷Kihei nawnin, a pipute u bangin lepchiah takin a gamta zota uhi: thalpeu muanhuai lou bangin a pai kawi uhi.

⁵⁸And they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.

⁵⁸A mun sangte un amah tuh a hihheh ngala, a milim siamte un a mullit sak ahi.

⁵⁹God heard, and was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel:

⁵⁹Pathianin huai a najakin a heha, Israelte a kih mahmah hi.

⁶⁰And he forsook the tabernacle at Shiloh, the tent where he had dwelt among men,

⁶⁰Huchiin Shiloh biakbuk mihing laka apuanin koih, a paisan a:

⁶¹And gave his strength into captivity, and his glory into the hand of the oppressor;

⁶¹A hatna salah a mansaka, a thupina melma khut ah a mansak nawn hi.

⁶²And delivered up his people unto the sword, and was very wroth with his inheritance:

⁶²A mite namsau kiangah a piaa; a gouluah ding tungah a hehta hi.

⁶³The fire consumed their young men, and their maidens were not praised in [nuptial] song;

⁶³Meiin a tangvalte uh a kangmanga, a nungakte un kitenna himhim a neita kei uhi.

⁶⁴Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows made no lamentation.

⁶⁴A siampute uh namsaua hihpukin a om ua; a meithaite uh a kap himhim kei uhi.

⁶⁵Then the Lord awoke as one out of sleep, like a mighty man that shouteth aloud by reason of wine;

⁶⁵Huchih laiin, TOUPA, mi ihmu a khanglou bangin a khangloutaa, mi hat uain jiaka kikou bangin.

⁶⁶And he smote his adversaries in the hinder part, and put them to everlasting reproach.

⁶⁶Amah melmate tuh a sat kika, khantawn min siatna a lohsakta hi.

⁶⁷And he rejected the tent of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim,

⁶⁷Huailou leng Jospeh puanin a deih keia, Ephraim nam leng a telta kei hi;

⁶⁸But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved;

⁶⁸Juda nam tuh a tel zota a, a it Zion tang mah.

⁶⁹And he built his sanctuary like the heights, like the earth which he hath founded for ever.

⁶⁹A in siangthou tuh van sangte bangin a lama, khantawn dinga a hihkip leilung bangin.

⁷⁰And he chose David his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:

⁷⁰A sikha David tuh a tela, belam huang akipante a la khiaa:

⁷¹From following the suckling-ewes, he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance.

⁷¹Belampu nou kaite zuihna akipanin a pi khiaa, a mite Jakobte leh a gouluah ding Israelte vak dingin.Huchiin aman a lungtang uh hoihna bangjelin amaute a vaka; khut siamin a pita hi.

⁷²And he fed them according to the integrity of his heart, and led them by the skilfulness of his hands.
