¹Hallelujah! Give ye thanks unto Jehovah; for he is good; for his loving-kindness [endureth] for ever.

¹ خداوند را شکر کنید! خداوند را سپاس گویید، زیرا او نیکوست؛ و محبّت پایدار او جاودانه است.

²Who can utter the mighty acts of Jehovah? [who] can shew forth all his praise?

² چه کسی می‌تواند کارهای عظیمی را که او انجام داده است، بیان کند؟ چه کسی می‌تواند شکر او را آن‌طور که شایسته است، بجا آورد؟

³Blessed are they that keep justice, [and] he that doeth righteousness at all times.

³ خوشا به حال کسانی‌که احکام او را بجا می‌آورند و همیشه آنچه را که درست است انجام می‌دهند.

⁴Remember me, O Jehovah, with [thy] favour toward thy people; visit me with thy salvation:

⁴ خداوندا، وقتی قوم خود را یاری می‌کنی، مرا هم به یادآور. وقتی آنها را نجات می‌دهی، مرا هم نجات بده

⁵That I may see the prosperity of thy chosen ones, that I may rejoice in the joy of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.

⁵ تا سعادت قوم خود را ببینم و در شادمانی امّت تو شریک گردم و در افتخاری که به قوم خود می‌بخشی، سهیم باشم.

⁶We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.

⁶ ما هم مانند اجداد خود گناهکار هستیم، ما نیز خطا کرده و شرارت ورزیده‌ایم.

⁷Our fathers in Egypt considered not thy wondrous works; they remembered not the multitude of thy loving-kindnesses; but they rebelled at the sea, at the Red Sea.

⁷ اجداد ما در مصر، کارهای عجیب تو را درک نکردند، آنها مهر و محبّت پایدار تو را فراموش کردند و در ساحل دریای سرخ علیه قادر متعال شورش کردند.

⁸Yet he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make known his might.

⁸ امّا او همان‌طور که وعده داده بود، آنها را رهایی داد تا قدرت عظیم خود را نشان دهد.

⁹And he rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up; and he led them through the deeps as through a wilderness.

⁹ او به دریای سرخ فرمان داد و دریا خشک شد؛ و قوم خود را از میان دریا از روی خشکی گذرانید.

¹⁰And he saved them from the hand of him that hated [them], and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

¹⁰ آنها را از دست آنانی که از ایشان نفرت داشتند، رهانید و از چنگ دشمنانشان نجات داد.

¹¹And the waters covered their oppressors: there was not one of them left.

¹¹ امّا آب، تمام دشمنان آنها را غرق کرد به طوری که حتی یکی از آنان هم باقی نماند.

¹²Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.

¹² در آن وقت آنها به وعدهٔ او ایمان آوردند و برای او سرود شکرگزاری خواندند.

¹³They soon forgot his works; they waited not for his counsel:

¹³ امّا آنها بزودی همهٔ کارهای او را فراموش کردند و منتظر مشورت و نصایح او نشدند.

¹⁴And they lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted ùGod in the desert.

¹⁴ بلکه با خواهش‌های نفسانی خود، خدا را در صحرا آزمودند.

¹⁵Then he gave them their request, but sent leanness into their soul.

¹⁵ پس او آنچه را که خواسته بودند، به ایشان عطا کرد، امّا مرض کشنده‌ای در بین آنها فرستاد.

¹⁶And they envied Moses in the camp, [and] Aaron, the saint of Jehovah.

¹⁶ در بیابان به موسی و به هارون، خدمتگزار مقدّس خداوند حسادت ورزیدند.

¹⁷The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram;

¹⁷ پس زمین دهان باز کرد و داتان و ابیرام و همراهانش را در خود فروبرد.

¹⁸And fire was kindled in their company; a flame burned up the wicked.

¹⁸ آتش بر پیروانشان بارید و همهٔ آن مردم شریر را سوزانید.

¹⁹They made a calf in Horeb, and did homage to a molten image;

¹⁹ آنها در دامنهٔ کوه سینا گوساله‌ای از طلا ساختند و آن بت را پرستش کردند.

²⁰And they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.

²⁰ مجسمهٔ یک گاوِ علفخوار را، بر خدای با عظمت و پُرجلال ترجیح دادند.

²¹They forgot ùGod their Saviour, who had done great things in Egypt,

²¹ آنها خدایی را که با کارهای عجیب خود آنان را از مصر آزاد کرده بود، فراموش کردند،

²²Wondrous works in the land of Ham, terrible things by the Red Sea.

²² کارهای عجیبی را که در زمین مصر انجام داد و یا آنچه را که در دریای سرخ کرد.

²³And he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses, his chosen, stood before him in the breach, to turn away his fury, lest he should destroy [them].

²³ وقتی خدا فرمود که می‌خواهد آن مردم را از بین ببرد، خادم برگزیدهٔ او موسی، در مقابل خدا به شفاعت ایستاد تا خشم او را برگرداند تا آنان را از بین نبرد.

²⁴And they despised the pleasant land; they believed not his word,

²⁴ آنها نخواستند که به آن سرزمین نیکو وارد شوند و به وعدهٔ خداوند اعتماد ننمودند.

²⁵But murmured in their tents: they hearkened not unto the voice of Jehovah.

²⁵ در چادر‌های خود نشستند و شکایت کردند و به دستورات خداوند گوش ندادند.

²⁶And he lifted up his hand to them, that he would make them fall in the wilderness;

²⁶ پس خداوند به طور بسیار جدّی قسم خورد که همه را در آن بیابان از بین ببرد

²⁷And that he would make their seed fall among the nations, and disperse them through the countries.

²⁷ و نسل ایشان را در سرزمینهای بیگانه پراکنده کند تا در سرگردانی بمیرند.

²⁸And they joined themselves unto Baal-Peor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead;

²⁸ در فغور، بت بعل را پرستیدند و از قربانی‌هایی که به بُتهای بی‌جان تقدیم شده بود، خوردند.

²⁹And they provoked [him] to anger with their doings; and a plague broke out among them.

²⁹ با رفتار خود، خداوند را به خشم آوردند و به‌خاطر آن به بلا دچار شدند.

³⁰Then stood up Phinehas and executed judgment, and the plague was stayed;

³⁰ پس فینحاس، برخاسته و مجرمین را مجازات نمود و وبا از بین رفت.

³¹And that was reckoned unto him for righteousness, from generation to generation, for evermore.

³¹ این کار نیک فینحاس در پیشگاه خدا مقبول گردید و تا به ابد از آن یاد خواهد شد.

³²And they moved him to wrath at the waters of Meribah, and it went ill with Moses on their account;

³² در کنار چشمهٔ مریبه، خشم خداوند را برانگیختند، به طوری که به‌خاطر آن، موسی دچار زحمت گردید.

³³For they provoked his spirit, so that he spoke unadvisedly with his lips.

³³ چون آن‌چنان او را به ستوه آورده بودند که سخنان ناسزا گفت.

³⁴They did not destroy the peoples, as Jehovah commanded them;

³⁴ آن قومهایی را که خداوند دستور داده بود از بین ببرند نکشتند،

³⁵But they mingled with the nations, and learned their works;

³⁵ بلکه با آنها ازدواج کردند و از رفتار بت‌پرستانهٔ آنها پیروی نمودند.

³⁶And they served their idols; and they were a snare unto them:

³⁶ بُتهای آنها را پرستش کردند و در نتیجه اسباب سقوط خود را فراهم کردند.

³⁷And they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto demons,

³⁷ پسران و دختران خود را برای بُتهای کنعان قربانی نمودند.

³⁸And shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan; and the land was polluted with blood.

³⁸ خون پسران و دختران بی‌گناه خود را به‌خاطر بُتهای کنعان ریختند و آن سرزمین را با خون آلوده کردند.

³⁹And they were defiled with their works, and went a-whoring in their doings.

³⁹ به این ترتیب به‌خاطر رفتار بد خود، ناپاک گشتند و به خداوند خیانت ورزیدند.

⁴⁰Then was the anger of Jehovah kindled against his people, and he abhorred his inheritance;

⁴⁰ آنگاه خداوند بر قوم خود خشم نموده از آنها متنفّر گردید.

⁴¹And he gave them into the hand of the nations; and they that hated them ruled over them:

⁴¹ پس آنها را به دست اقوامی که از آنها متنفّر بودند، سپرد و آنها بر ایشان حکمرانی نمودند.

⁴²And their enemies oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.

⁴² دشمنانشان بر آنها ظلم نموده، آنها را خوار و ذلیل کردند.

⁴³Often did he deliver them; but as for them they provoked [him] by their counsel, and they were brought low by their iniquity.

⁴³ خداوند بارها قوم خود را نجات داد، ولی هر بار آنها مجدداً به ضد خدا شورش نمودند، بیشتر در گناه فرو رفتند.

⁴⁴But he regarded their distress, when he heard their cry;

⁴⁴ با وجود این، هرگاه از روی درماندگی به حضور خداوند زاری کردند، خداوند زاری آنها را شنید.

⁴⁵And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his loving-kindnesses;

⁴⁵ پیمانی را که با آنها بسته بود، به یاد آورد و به‌خاطر محبّت پایدارش، بر آنها رحمت فرموده، از گناهانشان چشم پوشید

⁴⁶And he caused them to find compassion of all those that had carried them captives.

⁴⁶ و دل مردمانی را که بر آنها ظلم می‌کردند، به رحم آورد.

⁴⁷Save us, Jehovah our God, and gather us from among the nations, to give thanks unto thy holy name, [and] to triumph in thy praise.

⁴⁷ ای خداوند خدای ما، ما را نجات بده، ما را از میان ممالک بیگانه به سرزمین خودمان بازگردان، تا از تو شکرگزار باشیم و نام پاک تو را ستایش کنیم. خداوند، خدای اسرائیل را سپاس باد؛ از ازل تا ابدالآباد! همهٔ مردم بگویند: «آمین!» خداوند را سپاس باد!

⁴⁸Blessed be Jehovah the God of Israel, from eternity and to eternity! And let all the people say, Amen! Hallelujah!

⁴⁸ خداوند، خدای اسرائیل را سپاس باد؛ از ازل تا ابدالآباد! همهٔ مردم بگویند: «آمین!» خداوند را سپاس باد!
