¹{To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David.} Jehovah, thou hast searched me, and known [me].

¹ خداوندا، تو مرا آزموده‏ای و می‌شناسی.

²*Thou* knowest my down-sitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off;

² از نشستن و بر خواستن من آگاهی و تمام افکار و اندیشه‌های مرا از دور می‌دانی.

³Thou searchest out my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways;

³ تو از رفتار، کردار، کار و استراحت من آگاهی و تمام روشهای مرا می‌دانی.

⁴For there is not yet a word on my tongue, [but] lo, O Jehovah, thou knowest it altogether.

⁴ حتّی پیش از آن که حرفی بر زبان آورم، تو ای خداوند، منظور مرا می‌دانی.

⁵Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thy hand upon me.

⁵ حضور تو مرا از هر طرف احاطه نموده و با قدرت خود، مرا محافظت می‌کنی.

⁶O knowledge too wonderful for me! it is high, I cannot [attain] unto it.

⁶ شناخت تو از من خیلی عمیق است؛ این فراتر از فهم من می‌باشد.

⁷Whither shall I go from thy Spirit? and whither flee from thy presence?

⁷ از نزد تو کجا بگریزم و از حضور تو کجا پنهان شوم؟

⁸If I ascend up into the heavens thou art there; or if I make my bed in Sheol, behold, thou [art there];

⁸ اگر به آسمان بروم، تو در آنجا هستی. اگر به دنیای مردگان بروم، تو در آنجا هستی.

⁹[If] I take the wings of the dawn [and] dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,

⁹ اگر بر بالهای سحر بنشینم و از مشرق به دورترین نقطه در مغرب بروم،

¹⁰Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

¹⁰ تو برای رهبری من در آنجا خواهی بود. برای کمک به من تو در آنجا خواهی بود.

¹¹And if I say, Surely darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night;

¹¹ اگر از تاریکی خواهش کنم که مرا بپوشاند و یا روشناییِ اطراف من به تاریکی تبدیل گردد،

¹²Even darkness hideth not from thee, and the night shineth as the day: the darkness is as the light.

¹² حتّی تاریکی هم برای تو تاریک نخواهد بود و شب برای تو مانند روز روشن است، زیرا تاریکی و روشنایی برای تو یکی است.

¹³For thou hast possessed my reins; thou didst cover me in my mother's womb.

¹³ تو تمام اجزای بدنم را ساختی و در رحم مادرم همهٔ آنها را به هم پیوند دادی.

¹⁴I will praise thee, for I am fearfully, wonderfully made. Marvellous are thy works; and [that] my soul knoweth right well.

¹⁴ من تو را می‌ستایم، زیرا مرا به گونه‌ای عجیب ساخته‏ای، تمام کارهای تو بسیار شگفت‌انگیز است. من این را با تمام وجود می‌دانم.

¹⁵My bones were not hidden from thee when I was made in secret, curiously wrought in the lower parts of the earth.

¹⁵ وقتی استخوانهایم ساخته می‌شدند و در رحم مادر شکل می‌گرفتم و در نهان رشد می‌کردم، تو از وجود من آگاه بودی.

¹⁶Thine eyes did see my unformed substance, and in thy book all [my members] were written; [during many] days were they fashioned, when [as yet] there was none of them.

¹⁶ پیش از آن که به وجود بیایم و زندگی را آغاز کنم، روزهای عمرم را در دفتر خود ثبت نمودی.

¹⁷But how precious are thy thoughts unto me, O ùGod! how great is the sum of them!

¹⁷ خداوندا، افکار تو آن‌قدر عالی و گرانبها هستند، که من آنها را درک نمی‌کنم.

¹⁸[If] I would count them, they are more in number than the sand. When I awake, I am still with thee.

¹⁸ اگر آنها را بشمارم، از ریگهای صحرا زیادترند. وقتی بیدار می‌شوم باز هم با تو هستم.

¹⁹Oh that thou wouldest slay the wicked, O +God! And ye men of blood, depart from me.

¹⁹ خدایا، شریران را نابود کن و جنایتکاران را از من دور نما.

²⁰For they speak of thee wickedly, they take [thy name] in vain, thine enemies.

²⁰ آنها نام تو را به بدی یاد می‌کنند و به ضد تو حرفهای زشت می‌زنند.

²¹Do not I hate them, O Jehovah, that hate thee? and do not I loathe them that rise up against thee?

²¹ خداوندا، آیا از کسانی‌که از تو نفرت دارند، نفرت نداشته‌ام؟ آیا از آنانی که از تو سرپیچی می‌کنند، متنفّر نبوده‏ام؟

²²I hate them with perfect hatred; I account them mine enemies.

²² با تمام وجود از آنها متنفّرم و آنها را دشمن خود می‌دانم.

²³Search me, O ùGod, and know my heart; prove me, and know my thoughts;

²³ خدایا، مرا تفتیش کن و از دل من باخبر شو، مرا بیازما و افکار مرا بخوان. ببین آیا خطایی در من هست، و مرا به راه جاودانی هدایت نما.

²⁴And see if there be any grievous way in me; and lead me in the way everlasting.

²⁴ ببین آیا خطایی در من هست، و مرا به راه جاودانی هدایت نما.
