2[When] pride cometh, then cometh shame; but with the lowly is wisdom.
2Prijde pýcha, prijde i hanba; ale u skromných je múdrosť.
3The integrity of the upright guideth them; but the crookedness of the unfaithful destroyeth them.
3Bezúhonnosť úprimných ich povedie, a spreneverilcov zahubí ich vlastná prevrátenosť.
4Wealth profiteth not in the day of wrath; but righteousness delivereth from death.
4Nepomôže majetok v deň zúrivého hnevu, ale spravedlivosť vytrhne zo smrti.
5The righteousness of the perfect maketh plain his way; but the wicked falleth by his own wickedness.
5Spravedlivosť bezúhonného urovnáva jeho cestu, a bezbožník padne svojou vlastnou bezbožnosťou.
6The righteousness of the upright delivereth them; but the treacherous are taken in their own craving.
6Spravedlivosť úprimných ich vytrhne, ale tí, ktorí robia neverne, budú lapení v zlobe.
7When a wicked man dieth, [his] expectation shall perish; and the hope of evil [men] perisheth.
7Keď zomiera bezbožný človek, hynie nádej; hynie aj očakávanie veľkých síl.
8The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.
8Spravedlivý bude vytrhnutý z úzkosti, a na jeho miesto prijde bezbožný.
9With his mouth a hypocrite destroyeth his neighbour; but through knowledge are the righteous delivered.
9Pokrytec kazí svojho blížneho ústami, ale spravedliví bývajú vytrhnutí známosťou.
10When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth; and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.
10Zo šťastia spravedlivých sa veselí mesto, a keď hynú bezbožníci, býva plesanie.
11By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted; but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
11Požehnaním úprimných ľudí statočných sa vyvyšuje mesto, a ústami bezbožníkov sa borí.
12He that despiseth his neighbour is void of heart; but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.
12Človek bez rozumu pohŕda svojím blížnym; ale rozumný človek mlčí.
13He that goeth about talebearing revealeth secrets; but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.
13Pomluvač túlajúc sa odkrýva tajomstvo, ale človek verného ducha zakrýva vec.
14Where no advice is, the people fall; but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
14Kde nieto múdrej správy, padá ľud, a záchrana je vo množstve radcov.
15It goeth ill with him that is surety for another; but he that hateth suretyship is secure.
15Veľmi si škodí človek, keď sa zaručuje za cudzieho; ale ten, kto nenávidí rukojemstva, je bezpečný.
16A gracious woman retaineth honour; and the violent retain riches.
16Šľachetná žena dosiahne česti, a násilníci dosiahnu bohatstva.
17The merciful man doeth good to his own soul; but the cruel troubleth his own flesh.
17Milosrdný človek robí dobre svojej duši, ale ukrutný trápi svoje vlastné telo.
18The wicked worketh a deceitful work; but he that soweth righteousness hath a sure reward.
18Bezbožník si nadobúda falošného zárobku, ale ten, kto seje spravedlivosť, vernej mzdy istej.
19As righteousness [tendeth] to life, so he that pursueth evil [doeth it] to his own death.
19Tak je spravedlivosť na život, a ten, kto sa ženie za zlým, robí to na svoju smrť.
20The perverse in heart are abomination to Jehovah; but they that are perfect in [their] way are his delight.
20Ohavnosťou sú Hospodinovi prevrátení srdcom; ale jeho záľuba je v tých, ktorých cesta je bezúhonná.
21Hand for hand! an evil [man] shall not be held innocent; but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
21Zlý človek, keby si hneď vzal pomoc na pomoc, nebude bez trestu; ale semeno spravedlivých unikne.
22A fair woman who is without discretion, is [as] a gold ring in a swine's snout.
22Zlatá obrúčka na pysku svine pekná žena a bez rozumu.
23The desire of the righteous is only good; the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
23Žiadosť spravedlivých je len dobré, očakávanie bezbožníkov prchký hnev.
24There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is right, but [it tendeth] only to want.
24Niekto zrovna rozhadzuje, a ešte mu pribýva, a zase iný šetrí viac ako je slušné, ale vše na nedostatok.
25The liberal soul shall be made fat, and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
25Duša požehnania sa vytučí, a ten, kto zvlažuje, bude i sám zvlažený.
26He that withholdeth corn, the people curse him; but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.
26Tomu, kto zadržuje zbožie, budú zlorečiť ľudia; ale požehnanie prijde na hlavu toho, kto ho predáva.
27He that is earnest after good seeketh favour; but he that searcheth for mischief, it shall come upon him.
27Ten, kto snažne a včasne hľadá dobré, hľadá priazeň; ale ten, kto vyhľadáva zlé, prijde na neho.
28He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall flourish as a leaf.
28Ten, kto sa nadeje na svoje bohatstvo, padne; ale spravedliví budú pučať ako lístie.
29He that troubleth his own house shall inherit wind; and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.
29Ten, kto trápi svoj dom, bude dediť vietor, a blázon bude sluhom tomu, kto je múdreho srdca.
30The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and the wise winneth souls.
30Ovocie spravedlivého je stromom života, a ten, kto jíma duše, je múdry.
31Behold, the righteous shall be requited on the earth: how much more the wicked and the sinner.
31Hľa, spravedlivému býva odplatené na zemi, a pravdaže bezbožnému a hriešnikovi!
