1He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and without remedy.

2When the righteous increase, the people rejoice; but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
2Keď sa množia spravedliví, raduje sa ľud, a keď panuje bezbožník, vzdychá ľud.
3Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father; but he that is a companion of harlots destroyeth [his] substance.
3Človek, ktorý miluje múdrosť, obveseľuje svojho otca; ale ten, kto sa druží so smilnicami, premrhá majetok.
4A king by just judgment establisheth the land; but he that taketh gifts overthroweth it.
4Kráľ stavia súdom zem, aby stála; ale človek poplatkov ju borí.
5A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his steps.

6In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare; but the righteous shall sing and rejoice.
6V prestúpení zlého človeka leží osídlo; ale spravedlivý plesá a raduje sa.
7The righteous taketh knowledge of the cause of the poor; the wicked understandeth not knowledge.
7Spravedlivý zná súd chudobných; ale bezbožník nerozumie toľko, aby to poznal.
8Scornful men set the city in a flame; but the wise turn away anger.
8Posmievační mužovia rozdúchavajú mesto; ale múdri odvracajú hnev.
9If a wise man contendeth with a fool, whether he rage or laugh, [he] hath no rest.
9Múdry človek, ktorý sa súdi s bláznom, už či sa hnevá a či sa smeje, jednako nemá pokoja.
10The bloodthirsty hate the perfect, but the upright care for his soul.
10Mužovia krvi nenávidia bezúhonného; ale čo do úprimných, tí hľadajú zachovať jeho dušu.
11A fool uttereth all his mind; but a wise [man] keepeth it back.
11Blázon vypúšťa všetkého svojho ducha; ale múdry ho zdŕža zpät a krotí.
12If a ruler hearken to lying words, all his servants are wicked.
12Panovník, ktorý pozoruje ušima na lživé slovo, máva všetkých svojich sluhov bezbožníkov.
13The indigent and the oppressor meet together; Jehovah lighteneth the eyes of them both.
13Chudobný a dráč sa stretávajú; no, ten, kto osvecuje oči ich oboch, je Hospodin.
14A king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.
14Trón kráľa, ktorý súdi chudobných podľa pravdy, bude stáť pevne na veky.
15The rod and reproof give wisdom; but a child left [to himself] bringeth his mother to shame.
15Prút a káranie dáva múdrosť; ale rozpustilé decko robí svojej matke hanbu.
16When the wicked increase, transgression increaseth; but the righteous shall see their fall.
16Keď sa množia bezbožníci, množí sa prestúpenie; ale spravedliví uvidia ich pád.
17Chasten thy son, and he shall give thee rest, and shall give delight unto thy soul.
17Kázni svojho syna, a spôsobí ti odpočinutie a dá rozkoše tvojej duši.
18Where there is no vision the people cast off restraint; but happy is he that keepeth the law.
18Keď nieto videnia, je ľud rozpustilý; ale ten, kto ostríha zákon, je blahoslavený.
19A servant is not corrected by words: he understandeth indeed, but he will not answer.
19Slovami nebýva nakáznený sluha, lebo rozumie, ale neodpovedá.
20Hast thou seen a man hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
20Keď vidíš človeka, náhlivého v jeho rečiach, vedz, že o bláznovi je viacej nádeje.
21He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child, shall in the end have him as a son.
21Ten, kto od mladosti mazná svojho sluhu, pozná, že naposledy bude synákom.
22An angry man exciteth contention; and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.
22Hnevivý človek vzbudzuje svár a prchký človek sa dopúšťa mnoho prestúpení.
23A man's pride bringeth him low; but the humble in spirit shall obtain honour.
23Pýcha človeka ponižuje ho; ale ten, kto je poníženého ducha, dosiahne slávy.
24Whoso shareth with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth the adjuration, and declareth not.
24Ten, kto sa delí so zlodejom, nenávidí svoju dušu; čuje kliatbu, ale neoznámi.
25The fear of man bringeth a snare; but whoso putteth his confidence in Jehovah is protected.
25Strach pred ľuďmi kladie osídlo; ale ten, kto sa nadeje na Hospodina, bude povýšený.
26Many seek the ruler's face; but a man's right judgment is from Jehovah.
26Mnohí hľadajú tvár panovníka, a od Hospodina je súd každého človeka.
27An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous; and he that is of upright way is an abomination to the wicked [man].
27Ohavnosťou spravedlivým je človek, ktorý pácha neprávosť, a ohavnosťou bezbožnému je ten, kto ide rovnou cestou.
