1And Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,
1 Gaa no Elifaz Teman boro tu ka ne:
2Should a wise man answer with windy knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind,
2 «Boro kaŋ gonda laakal ga sanni yeti da bayray yaamo, Wala a ga nga gundo toonandi nda wayna funay hawo no?
3Reasoning with unprofitable talk, and with speeches which do no good?
3 A ma kakaw te da sanni kaŋ sinda nafa mo, Wala nda sanniyaŋ kaŋ si hay kulu hanse?
4Yea, thou makest piety of none effect, and restrainest meditation before ùGod.
4 Oho, yaadin no ni goono ga Irikoy humburkumay zeeri, Ni go ga Irikoy se sududuyaŋ mo ganji.
5For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou hast chosen the tongue of the crafty.
5 Zama ni taalo ga daŋ ni meyo ma salaŋ, Ni na hiilantey deene suuban mo.
6Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I; and thy lips testify against thee.
6 Ni bumbo meyo go ga ni zeeri, manti ay bo. Ni bumbo sanno goono ga seeda ni boŋ.
7Art thou the first man that was born? and wast thou brought forth before the hills?
7 To, nin no ga ti bora kaŋ i sintin ka hay, wala? Wala i na ni kaa taray za i mana tudey te no?
8Hast thou listened in the secret council of +God? And hast thou absorbed wisdom for thyself?
8 Irikoy saaware marge ra no ni goono ga goro ka maa? Ni goono ga ne ni hinne do no laakal bara, wala?
9What knowest thou that we know not? [what] understandest thou which is not in us?
9 Ifo no ni ga bay kaŋ iri wo si bay? Wala ifo no ni faham d'a kaŋ si iri wo banda?
10Both the greyheaded and the aged are with us, older than thy father.
10 Iri do haray gonda hamni kwaaray koy yaŋ da arkusu zeeno boobo, Boroyaŋ kaŋ ga zeen ni baabo gumo.
11Are the consolations of ùGod too small for thee? and the word gently spoken to thee?
11 Irikoy yaamaryaŋey kayna ni se no? Wala baa sanni baana kaŋ i te ni se?
12Why doth thy heart carry thee away? and why do thine eyes wink?
12 Ifo se no ni ta ni bina ma ni halli? Ifo se mo no ni moy goono ga ciray?
13That thou turnest thy spirit against ùGod, and lettest words go out of thy mouth?
13 Hala nda ni bare ka fay da Irikoy ni biya ra, Kaŋ ni goono ga naŋ sanney wo dumi ma fun ni me ra.
14What is man, that he should be pure? and he that is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
14 Adam-ize wo, ifo no? sanku fa a ma ciya hanante? Wayboro hayyaŋ mo, ifo no, hal a ma ciya adilante?
15Behold, he putteth no trust in his holy ones, and the heavens are not pure in his sight:
15 Guna, baa a wane hanantey, Irikoy mana naanay i gaa bo. Oho, hala beeney bumbo sinda hananyaŋ a do.
16How much less the abominable and corrupt, -- man, that drinketh unrighteousness like water!
16 Sanku fa binde boro kaŋ go, Fanta hari no, ifumbo mo no! Adam-ize kaŋ ga laala haŋ sanda hari cine!
17I will shew thee, listen to me; and what I have seen I will declare;
17 Ma maa ay se ay ma woone cabe ni se mo. Haŋ kaŋ ay jin ka di, nga no ay ga ci.
18Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hidden;
18 Haŋ kaŋ laakalkooney ci, Ngey kaayey do no i maa r'a, Ngey mo man'a tugu.
19Unto whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger passed among them.
19 Ngey hinne se no i na laabo no, Yaw fo kulu mana furo a ra.
20All his days the wicked man is tormented, and numbered years are allotted to the violent.
20 Boro laalo ga azaaba haŋ nga jirbey kulu ra, I na jiiri timmanteyaŋ jisi kankamandiko se.
21The sound of terrors is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer cometh upon him.
21 Humburkumay yooje maayaŋ go a hanga ra, A baani jirbey ra mo halaciko no ga kaŋ a boŋ.
22He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is singled out for the sword.
22 A ga laakal kaa hala nga ga ye ka kaa ka fun kubay ra, Takuba mo goono g'a batu.
23He wandereth abroad for bread, -- where may it be? He knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
23 A ga windi-windi ka ŋwaari ceeci, Ka ne: ‹Man no a go?› A bay kaŋ kubay zaaro maan nga gaa.
24Distress and anguish make him afraid; they prevail against him, as a king ready for the battle.
24 Kankami nda foyrayyaŋ goono g'a humburandi. I goono ga te a boŋ zaama mo, Sanda bonkooni kaŋ go soolante wongu se.
25For he hath stretched out his hand against ùGod, and strengthened himself against the Almighty:
25 Zama a na nga kambe salle ka gaaba nda Irikoy. A goono ga boŋbeeray te ka gaaba nda Hina-Kulu-Koyo.
26He runneth against him, with [outstretched] neck, with the thick bosses of his bucklers;
26 Boŋ sanday no a ga zuru ka koy d'a Irikoy gaa, A korayo banda gaa gonda wargayaŋ.
27For he hath covered his face with his fatness, and gathered fat upon [his] flanks.
27 Zama a na nga moyduma daabu nda maani, A na maani margu mo nga tanja boŋ.
28And he dwelleth in desolate cities, in houses that no man inhabiteth, which are destined to become heaps.
28 A goro mo gallu kurmuyaŋ ra, Windey kaŋ ra boro kulu si da goray, Wo kaŋ yaŋ zeen hala i ga ba ka kaŋ.
29He shall not become rich, neither shall his substance continue, and their possessions shall not extend upon the earth.
29 A si te arzakante, a duura si duumi, A fari nafa mo si sumbal kala ganda.
30He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches; and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.
30 A si du ka fun kubay ra, Danji beela g'a tuuri kambey koogandi mo. Irikoy meyo ra funsaro no g'a ganandi.
31Let him not trust in vanity: he is deceived, for vanity shall be his recompense;
31 A ma si de yaamo gaa, ka nga boŋ halli mo, Zama yaadin gaa yaamo ga ciya a wane alhakku.
32It shall be complete before his day, and his branch shall not be green.
32 A g'a kulu bana a se za da hinay. A tuuri kambe mo si zaada.
33He shall shake off his unripe grapes as a vine, and shall cast his flower as an olive.
33 A ga nga izey kaŋ mana nin yaŋ zama, Danga reyzin* nya cine. Danga zeytun* tuuri-nya mo, a ga nga booso dooru.
34For the family of the ungodly shall be barren, and fire shall consume the tents of bribery.
34 Zama borey kaŋ yaŋ ga wangu Irikoy ganayaŋ, I jama si du banda, Danji mo ga ngey kaŋ yaŋ ga me-daabu ta windey ŋwa.
35They conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity, and their belly prepareth deceit.
35 I ga kun da hasaraw ka laala hay, I biney mo go ga halliyaŋ soola.»
