1The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.
1 Ninawiya boŋ deda neeya, Nahum Elkosi bora bangando tira:
2A jealous and avenging ùGod is Jehovah: an avenger is Jehovah, and full of fury: Jehovah taketh vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth [wrath] for his enemies.
2 Rabbi ya Irikoy cansekom no, a ga bana. Rabbi ga bana, toonante no a go da futay. Rabbi ga bana nga ibarey gaa, A ga dukuri jisi nga ibarey se.
3Jehovah is slow to anger, and great in power, and doth not at all clear [the guilty]: Jehovah, -- his way is in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
3 Rabbi ga munye hal a bina ga tun. Beeraykoy no hin ra, A si taali-teerey naŋ mo alhakku si baa kayna. Rabbi gonda nga fonda alma haw beeri da beene hari ra, Burey mo a cey kusa no.
4He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth.
4 A ga deeni teeko gaa, a ga naŋ mo a ma sundu, A ga hari zuray goorey kulu koogandi mo. Basan da Karmel kulu ga lakaw, Liban booso mo ga lakaw.
5The mountains quake before him, and the hills melt, and the earth is upheaved at his presence, and the world, and all that dwell therein.
5 Tondi beerey ga jijiri a jine, Tudey ga manne, laabo ga zinji a jine, Oho, hala nda ndunnya nd'a ra gorokoy kulu.
6Who shall stand before his indignation? and who shall abide in the fierceness of his anger? His fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken asunder by him.
6 May no ga hin ka kay a dukuro jine? May no ga hin a futay korna? A ga nga futa gusam sanda danji cine, A ga tondi daarey bagu-bagu mo.
7Jehovah is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
7 Rabbi ya gomnikoy no, Tuguyaŋ do no taabi zaari ra, A ga haggoy mo da borey kaŋ yaŋ goono ga de nga gaa.
8But with an overrunning flood he will make a full end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.
8 Amma a ga naŋ hari kaŋ ga baa ma kwaara ban parkatak! A ga nga ibarey ce kondo ŋwa k'i gaaray ka daŋ kubay ra.
9What do ye imagine against Jehovah? He will make a full end: trouble shall not rise up the second time.
9 Me-hawyaŋ kulu kaŋ dumi no araŋ ga te Rabbi se, A g'a ban parkatak! Taabi si tun sorro hinka bo!
10Though they be tangled together [as] thorns, and be as drenched from their drink, they shall be devoured as dry stubble, completely.
10 I ga bugu waati kulu danga borey kaŋ na baji haŋ, Sanda mate kaŋ karji kambe ga koli-koli care gaa waati kulu. I g'i ŋwa parkatak, sanda buunu kogo cine.
11Out of thee is gone forth one that imagineth evil against Jehovah, a wicked counsellor.
11 Ya _Ninawiya|_, boro fo fatta ni do, Kaŋ na laala me-hawyaŋ te Rabbi boŋ. A goono ga zamba saaware te.
12Thus saith Jehovah: Though they be complete in number, and many as they be, even so shall they be cut down, and he shall pass away; and though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.
12 Haŋ kaŋ Rabbi ci neeya: «Baa i ga to da gaabi, i ga baa mo, Kulu nda yaadin ay g'i pati ka kaa, i ga ban mo. _Ya Yahuda|_, baa kaŋ ay jin ka ni taabandi, Ay si ye ka ni taabandi koyne.
13And now will I break his yoke from off thee, and will burst thy bonds asunder.
13 Sohõ binde ay g'a calo ceeri ka kaa ni jinda gaa, Ay ma ni sisirey mo pati-pati.»
14And Jehovah hath given commandment concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sown: out of the house of thy god will I cut off the graven image, and the molten image: I will prepare thy grave; for thou art vile.
15Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth glad tidings, that publisheth peace! Celebrate thy feasts, Judah, perform thy vows: for the wicked one shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.
