1A wise son [heareth] his father's instruction; but a scorner heareth not rebuke.

2A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth; but the soul of the treacherous, violence.
2 Boro ga albarka ŋwa nga me nafa do, Amma amaana ŋwaako fundo ga toonye ŋwa.
3He that guardeth his mouth keepeth his soul; destruction shall be to him that openeth wide his lips.
3 Boro kaŋ ga haggoy nda nga me ga nga boŋ hallasi, Amma boro kaŋ na nga me taŋ, Halaciyaŋ ga ti a baa.
4A sluggard's soul desireth and hath nothing; but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
4 Hawfuno go ga bini, amma a si du hay kulu, Day kookarante fundo ga zaada.
5A righteous [man] hateth lying; but the wicked maketh himself odious and cometh to shame.
5 Adilante ga konna taari, Amma boro laalo ya fanta hari no, A ga haawi hari te mo.
6Righteousness preserveth him that is perfect in the way; but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
6 Adilitaray ga boro kaŋ fondo ga kay batu, Amma laala ga zunubikooni bare ka gum.
7There is that feigneth himself rich, and hath nothing; there is that maketh himself poor, and hath great wealth.
7 Boro go no kaŋ ga nga boŋ himandi arzakante, A go mo, a sinda hay kulu. Boro go no mo kaŋ ga nga boŋ himandi talka, A gonda duure boobo mo.
8The ransom of a man's life is his riches; but the indigent heareth not rebuke.
8 Boro fundo fansa ya a duura no, Amma alfukaaru si maa kaseetiyaŋ.
9The light of the righteous rejoiceth; but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
9 Adilante kaaro ga farhandi, Amma boro laalo fitilla ga bu.
10By pride there only cometh contention; but with the well-advised is wisdom.
10 Boŋbeeray fonda ra hay kulu si no kala yanje, Amma laakal go no borey kaŋ yaŋ ga saaware hanno ta do.
11Wealth [gotten] by vanity diminisheth; but he that gathereth by manual-labour shall increase [it].
11 Arzaka kaŋ i du goy yaamo do ga ye ka ciya ikayna, Amma boro kaŋ ga margu-margu nga kambe goyo do ga du tontoni.
12Hope deferred maketh the heart sick; but the desire [that] cometh to pass is a tree of life.
12 Muraadu kaŋ mongo ka feeri ga naŋ bine ma dooru, Amma d'i du ngey bine ibaay hari, fundi tuuri no.
13Whoso despiseth the word shall be held by it; but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.
13 Boro kaŋ donda Sanno ga halaciyaŋ candi ka kande nga boŋ gaa, Amma boro kaŋ humburu lordo ga du nga alhakku.
14The teaching of the wise [man] is a fountain of life, to turn away from the snares of death.
14 Laakalkooni dondonandiyaŋ ya fundi hari-mo no, Kaŋ ga boro fay da buuyaŋ kumsay.
15Good understanding procureth favour; but the way of the treacherous is hard.
15 Fahamay hanno ga gaakuri candi, Amma naanay feeriko fonda ga sandi.
16Every prudent [man] acteth with knowledge; but the foolish layeth open [his] folly.
16 Laakalkooni kulu ga nga goyo te bayray boŋ, Amma saamo ga nga saamotara bangandi.
17A wicked messenger falleth into evil; but a faithful ambassador is health.
17 Diya laalo ga kaŋ bone ra, Amma diya naanaykoy ya baani no.
18Poverty and shame shall be [to] him that refuseth instruction; but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.
18 Talkataray da haawi go boro kaŋ wangu goojiyaŋ se, Amma boro kaŋ haggoy da kaseetiyaŋ ga du beeray.
19The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul; but it is abomination to the foolish to depart from evil.
19 Muraadu kaŋ feeri ga kaan fundi se, Amma fanta hari no saamey se i ma fay da laala teeyaŋ.
20He that walketh with wise [men] becometh wise; but a companion of the foolish will be depraved.
20 Ma dira laakalkooney banda, ni ga te laakal mo, Amma saamey hangasin ga di bone.
21Evil pursueth sinners; but to the righteous good shall be repaid.
21 Bone ga zunubikooni ce kondo ŋwa, Amma i ga gomni bana adilante se.
22A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children; but the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous [man].
22 Boro hanno ga tubu naŋ hala nga haamey se, Amma i ga zunubikooni duure jisi adilantey se.
23Much food is in the tillage of the poor; but there is that is lost for want of judgment.
23 Talkey farey ra, ŋwaari boobo go no, Amma cimi ciiti jaŋay g'a haabu ka ku.
24He that spareth his rod hateth his son; but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
24 Boro kaŋ mana nga izo barzu goono ga wangu nga izo no, Amma boro kaŋ ga ba r'a g'a gooji nda anniya.
25The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul; but the belly of the wicked shall want.
25 Adilante ga ŋwa hal a fundo ma kungu, Amma boro laalo gunda ga jaŋ.
