Proverbs

7

1My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
2Keep my commandments, and live; and my teaching, as the apple of thine eye.
3Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the tablet of thy heart.
3 Ni m'i haw ni kambayzey gaa. Ni m'i hantum ni bina walhã boŋ.
4Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister, and call intelligence [thy] kinswoman:
4 Ma ne laakal se: «Ni ya ay wayme no.» Ma fahamay mo te ni dumi.
5that they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger who flattereth with her words.
6For at the window of my house, I looked forth through my lattice,
6 Ay windo finetarey gaa ay niigaw, daabirjo ra haray.
7and I beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the sons, a young man void of understanding,
7 Kala borey kaŋ yaŋ sinda carmay game ra ay di arwasu fo. Ay n'a fayanka arwasey kaŋ sinda fahamay ra.
8passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,
8 A goono ga waybora fuwo batama casu. A na fonda di ka koy a kwaara haray,
9in the twilight, in the evening of the day, in the blackness of night and the darkness.
9 Wiciri kambu, almaari haray, cin kubay biyo ra.
10And behold, there met him a woman in the attire of a harlot, and subtle of heart.
10 A binde, a go, a kubay da wayboro fo kaŋ gonda waykuuru bankaaray da bina kaŋ ga bar-bare.
11She is clamorous and unmanageable; her feet abide not in her house:
11 Kaŋ kusuumante no, wayboro boŋ-ibaay-koy, A cey si kay nga windo ra.
12now without, now in the broadways, -- and she lieth in wait at every corner.
12 Han fooyaŋ a go fondey gaa, Han fooyaŋ a go batamey ra, Fondo gaarey kulu boŋ a goono ga lamba.
13And she caught him and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him,
13 Waybora din binde na arwaso di k'a garbe sunsum. A n'a guna da mo-koogay ka ne a se:
14I have peace-offerings with me; this day have I paid my vows:
14 «Saabuyaŋ sargayyaŋ go ay do hunkuna, Ay n'ay sarto bana.
15therefore came I forth to meet thee, to seek earnestly thy face, and I have found thee.
16I have decked my bed with tapestry coverlets of variegated linen from Egypt;
16 Ay n'ay dima daaru nda kunta baano yaŋ, Misira kaymi suubanante no.
17I have perfumed my couch with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
18Come, let us revel in love until the morning, let us delight ourselves with loves.
19For the husband is not at home, he is gone a long journey;
19 Zama windikoyo si no, A koy naaruyaŋ hala nangu mooro.
20he hath taken the money-bag with him, he will come home on the day of the full moon.
20 A konda nooru foola nga kamba ra, Hando farso no a ga ye ka kaa.»
21With her much enticement she beguiled him; with the smoothness of her lips she constrained him.
21 Waybora hin a da nga me kaana, A n'a halli da nga deena kaana.
22He went after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, and as stocks [serve] for the correction of the fool;
22 Arwaso n'a gana fap! folloŋ, Danga haw kaŋ ga koy faawa do, Wala mo danga hawante kaŋ ga koy saamo goojiyaŋ do.
23till an arrow strike through his liver: as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for its life.
23 Hala hangaw n'a hay haama ra, Danga curo kaŋ ga cahã ka koy hirrimi do, A mana bay mo kaŋ nga fundo se no i n'a te.
24And now, ye sons, hearken unto me, and attend to the words of my mouth.
24 Sohõ binde, ay izey, wa hanga jeeri ay se. Araŋ ma haggoy d'ay me sanney.
25Let not thy heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths:
25 Ma si naŋ ni bina ma miila ka koy waybora din teerey do haray, Ma si kamba ka koy a fondey ra.
26for she hath cast down many wounded, and all slain by her were strong.
26 Zama a na boro boobo maray ka zeeri. Oho, borey kaŋ yaŋ a wi kulu ya kunda bambata no.
27Her house is the way to Sheol, going down to the chambers of death.
27 A windo ya Alaahara fondo no, A ga zulli no ka koy buuyaŋ fuwey do.
