¹In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, came the word of Jehovah by the prophet Haggai unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,

¹ณ วันที่หนึ่ง เดือนที่หก ปีที่สองแห่งรัชกาลกษัตริย์ดาริอัส พระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์มาโดยทางฮักกัย ผู้พยากรณ์ ถึงเศรุบบาเบลบุตรชายเชอัลทิเอล ผู้ว่าราชการเมืองยูดาห์ และถึงโยชูวาบุตรชายเยโฮซาดัก มหาปุโรหิต ว่า

²Thus speaketh Jehovah of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that Jehovah's house should be built.

²"พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้ว่า ประชาชนเหล่านี้กล่าวว่า เวลานั้นยังไม่มาถึง คือเวลาที่จะสร้างพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์"

³And the word of Jehovah came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

³แล้วพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์จึงมาถึงโดยทางฮักกัยผู้พยากรณ์ว่า

⁴Is it time for you that ye should dwell in your wainscoted houses, while this house lieth waste?

⁴"ถึงเวลาแล้วหรือที่ตัวเจ้าเองอาศัยอยู่ในบ้านที่มีไม้บุ แต่ส่วนพระนิเวศนี้ทิ้งให้พังทลาย

⁵And now thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Consider your ways.

⁵เพราะฉะนั้น บัดนี้พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาจึงตรัสว่า จงพิจารณาดูว่า เจ้ามีความเป็นอยู่อย่างไร

⁶Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but are not satisfied; ye drink, but are not filled with drink; ye clothe yourselves, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages for a bag with holes.

⁶เจ้าหว่านมาก แต่เกี่ยวน้อย เจ้ารับประทาน แต่ไม่เคยอิ่ม เจ้าดื่ม แต่ก็ไม่เคยหายอยาก เจ้านุ่งห่ม แต่ก็ไม่มีใครอุ่น ผู้ที่ได้ค่าจ้าง ก็ได้ค่าจ้างมาใส่ถุงที่มีรู

⁷Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Consider your ways.

⁷พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้ว่า จงพิจารณาดูว่า เจ้ามีความเป็นอยู่อย่างไร

⁸Go up to the mountain and bring wood, and build the house, and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith Jehovah.

⁸พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า จงขึ้นไปที่เนินเขาและนำไม้มาสร้างพระนิเวศ เราจะมีความพอใจในพระนิเวศนั้น และเราจะได้รับเกียรติ

⁹Ye looked for much, and behold it was little; and when ye brought it home, I blew upon it. Wherefore? saith Jehovah of hosts. Because of my house that lieth waste, whilst ye run every man to his own house.

⁹เจ้าทั้งหลายหวังได้มาก แต่ดูเถิด ก็ได้น้อย และเมื่อเจ้านำผลมาบ้านของเจ้า เราก็เป่ามันไปเสีย พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสว่า ทำไมเป็นอย่างนั้นเล่า ก็เพราะนิเวศของเราพังทลายอยู่ ฝ่ายเจ้าต่างก็สาละวนอยู่กับเรื่องบ้านของตน

¹⁰Therefore over you the heavens withhold their dew, and the earth withholdeth its fruit.

¹⁰เพราะฉะนั้น ท้องฟ้าที่อยู่เหนือเจ้าจึงยั้งน้ำค้างไว้เสีย และโลกก็ยึดพืชผลของมันไว้เสีย

¹¹And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon man, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.

¹¹และเราก็เรียกความแห้งแล้งมาสู่แผ่นดินและเนินเขา มาสู่ข้าว น้ำองุ่นใหม่ และน้ำมัน มาสู่สิ่งต่างๆซึ่งดินอำนวยผล สู่มนุษย์และสัตว์ และมาสู่ผลงานทั้งสิ้นซึ่งมือกระทำไว้"

¹²And Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and all the remnant of the people, hearkened to the voice of Jehovah their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, according as Jehovah their God had sent him, and the people feared before Jehovah.

¹²แล้วเศรุบบาเบล บุตรชายเชอัลทิเอลและโยชูวา บุตรชายเยโฮซาดัก มหาปุโรหิต พร้อมกับประชาชนทั้งปวงที่เหลืออยู่ได้เชื่อฟังพระสุรเสียงของพระเยโฮวาห์ พระเจ้าของเขาทั้งหลาย และถ้อยคำของฮักกัยผู้พยากรณ์ เพราะว่าพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเขาทั้งหลายได้ทรงใช้ท่านมา และประชาชนก็เกรงกลัวต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์

¹³Then spoke Haggai, Jehovah's messenger, in Jehovah's message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith Jehovah.

¹³แล้วฮักกัย ทูตของพระเยโฮวาห์ จึงกล่าวแก่ประชาชนตามกระแสรับสั่งของพระเยโฮวาห์ว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า เราอยู่กับเจ้าทั้งหลาย"

¹⁴And Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked at the house of Jehovah of hosts, their God,

¹⁴และพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงเร้าใจเศรุบบาเบลบุตรชายเชอัลทิเอล ผู้ว่าราชการเมืองยูดาห์ และทรงเร้าใจของโยชูวาบุตรชายเยโฮซาดัก มหาปุโรหิต และเร้าใจประชาชนทั้งปวงที่เหลืออยู่นั้น เขาทั้งหลายก็มาทำงานในพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธา พระเจ้าของเขาทั้งหลาย

¹⁵in the four and twentieth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.
